Irene Adler

One of the advantages of never having read that story, I guess ... nothing to compare "our" Scandal to.

I thought her "battle dress" was her disguise. A good one, too ... he couldn't make anything of it. Actually, she had many disguises, they were just behavioral, not sartorial. Which Irene was the real one? I sure don't know.

The real Irene is pretty obvious though, isn’t it? Selfish, attractive, manipulative, supposedly gay, dangerous, a likely sociopath who only cares about herself, willing to use anyone to get what she wants and will work with anyone if she thinks it will meet her purposes. What about her is a mystery?

The only reason she needs protection though are the same qualities listed. I could understand your point if there was any ambiguity in her actions but what about giving the Bond Air code to Moriarty to foil Mycroft’s plan, using Sherlock to blackmail Mycroft and gloating about working with Moriarty are ambiguous as to actions or motivation? All the qualities listed (except being gay) were all there in one scene and were foreshadowed the entire episode preceding it.
