"Forbidden" Errors (due to "spam" words)

Hmm, no problem.  Maybe by the time Boton got the software to accept her post, she had forgotten precisely how she'd originally worded it?  This particular filter can be very persnickety.

And it was some other combination of words, you mean? Egad, how are we ever to know what we can and cannot say? It's censorship, I say!!!! :p

Damn right it's censorship!

(My current suspicion is that it didn't like whatever Boton originally had instead of "ladies of the evening.")

Ah.

Hookers?

Whores?

Prostitutes?

Call girls?

Well, now we know what can be readily advertised on this forum!  :P

Lemme try the singulars:

Hooker

Whore

Prostitute

Call girl

... and while I'm at it:

Escort

Masseuse

I have edited the initial post of this thread to add a list of all the "Forbidden" words discovered to date.  I shall endeavor to remember to keep the list updated.

Seeing the guessing lists reminds me of Name That Tune for some reason only it's forbidden words instead.

.... copy the link below and remove the space before .ru (the Forbidden Error strikes again)

cytqg.beon .ru/tag/%cc%e0%f0%ea%20%c3%fd%f2%e8%f1%f1/

Can anybody figure out what the magic word is this time?

It's not the body text, it's the link that causes the error message. I tried putting in the link with the text above, and also with different words, and got the error message both times. But as you can see, as long as it's not linked, the above text is fine.

What that means, I have no idea.

I've noticed before that "forbidden" words don't need to be in the visible text -- the filter also looks at links, image addresses, and such.  In this case, there's apparently a string of letters in that link that looks like the name of something likely to be marketed via spam.  But any idea what it is?

Could the website itself be on the "forbidden" list?

I suppose that's possible -- but it didn't sound like that particular site was selling anything, did it?

Hmmm... interesting. From home it seemed to be the .ru domain. As soon as it was written together, I've got the error, no matter if it was an active link or not, http:// at the beginning or not. From the workplace all the alternatives seem to work

Might the magic word be no word at all, but something linked to IP address or/and browser?

I didn't see anything "suspicious" about that sight, but I don't read Russian ... for all I know it was one big porn advertisement. :p

I seem to have read right over your actual point, Arcadia.  Interesting.  What I'd seen before was a Forbidden error if a link contained a Forbidden word, even if the URL was not displayed in the post.  In this case, it seems to be objecting to the link as a link.  It objects if that URL is used as a link, regardless of whether or not the URL is displayed in the post (I tried it both ways), but does not object to the URL being merely displayed, as you have done.

Right. And Van Buren is reporting that she got some kind of crazy message when she tried to go to that site. I asked if she was sure she typed the address right; depending on her answer, I'll post a link to that thread (after I find it again :)
