Sherlock: The Novels

Recommended Posts

For a while I’ve been wondering why, when we consider the huge success of Sherlock, haven’t the stories been released in novel form? A guaranteed seller surely? They would risk being killed in a stampede of authors if they let it be known that they wanted someone to put the scripts into novel form. They’ve been done in Manga I know. I got the first 2 episodes but I won’t bother with anymore as I’m not a fan of the artwork.

Does anyone know if this idea has been considered or even suggested? Also can anyone think of any reasons why Moftiss wouldn’t consider this a good idea?

No idea.

What I'd love to see is the shooting scripts available in print. They could do each series as one bound volume.

This may be just me, but I'm interested in interpretations of the episodes in this order:

1. Moftiss's

2. Director's / Actor's

3. Mine

4. Anybody else's

Moftiss aren't likely to have any interest in spending time turning their scripts into novels.  And I'm afraid that a novelization written by anybody except Moftiss is likely to fall into category 4.  Whereas a script is pure category 1.

On the other hand, if someone were allowed to write a Sherlock novel with an original plot, I'd be interested.  (Calling Diane Duane!)
