  2. There was a huge annual office party that is actually compulsory (yeah right). First two year here, I attended and left way early, even before dinner. The subsequent three years I skipped and went straight back home before it started. This year, with new group of colleagues, which I could actually stand, persuaded me to go and say 'but you have us!' when I mentioned the dreaded atmosphere. But I used my dog as excuse, as always, and to my surprise, they decided not to go as well because it looked overwhelming to them too, and locked themselves in our secluded office playing games (the party venue is still inside office premise and they are staying in office accomodation) can't say I don't have new appreciation for them.

  3. No of course not! The other way is coming here and reading only selective threads. That explain my vast knowledge about Benedict Cumberbatch and any other cast and things happening around the world.

  4. I have to say I'm relieved it's not the kind of hump that I thought it would be. Found Mycroft-Only pedestrian crossing.

  6. Why on earth are parties mandatory?

  8. I'd rather they don't do the cameo in CGI, too much and too weird. Someone being a rebel here.

  9. No deer, and no coffee, lol. But yes, Max is canon. And with the Grinch living in isolation like he does, probably the only reason he's retained some semblance of sanity, lol. He needs someone to grumble to.

  10. I like a rain that washes the humidity out of the air, although we seldom get those ā€¦. usually it just makes it worse. But a cold, freezing rain ā€¦ pah. Wouldn't wish it even on my worst enemies.

  11. I wouldnā€™t like a CGI cameo either. It is weird, and it wouldnā€™t really be Stan. Itā€™s not the same. What I would like to see is RDJ carry on the cameo tradition. Depending on what they have planned for Tony Stark in the next Avengers... Most people are predicting death, but if he has to go away, Iā€™d rather see him happily retired. In any case, weā€™ve probably still got one or two more Stan cameos to see. Avengers 4 is already filmed, and perhaps Captain Marvel as well.

  12. Will you have to be doing a lot of scuba diving in your work, or can you leave that to other people? Iā€™m sure itā€™s something you can get used to with practice.

  13. Of course we noticed! Your absence was deafening. (Like Arcadia said, it wasnā€™t as busy here without you.) I was worried about you too, what with everything going on with you lately.

  14. Oh so the dog is actually 'canon'? I had never seen another Grinch movie, soI don't know. What about the f... big-sized deer? So do they make coffee? I have to admit I gave my dog a stink eye when he does nothing to help with my chores after watching Grinch.

  15. Awww. I had a kitty that would do that. When she groomed, she was thorough! That even looks a little bit like her. I miss that cat, she was the sweetest being I've ever met.

  17. I was going to say "I feel the same way", but since I can't know how you feel, I'll just go with "I feel like you describe in hot weather too". As far as I know, some people are just sensitive to heat. I thrive in the cold.

  18. I thought of that ā€¦ but I'm not sure how I'd feel about it. Depends on how they handle it, I guess. I found the CGI Leia rather creepy.

  20. Ditto. Even when I was little I struggled with summertime. Thereā€™s something called Reverse Seasonal Affective Disorder/Summer SAD, which can have this effect. It can also be accompanied by ā€œsummer bluesā€ much like winter SAD is accompanied by ā€œwinter bluesā€, but thatā€™s not always a symptom. I first learned of it 10 or 15 years ago, but itā€™s really only just begun to be studied. Most doctors donā€™t even know about it yet. I normally look forward to the coming of winter, but last winter was so long and hard that it honestly feels like it just ended, so Iā€™m not really ready for another yet. Plus, I didnā€™t get an autumn, which is when I thrive. We went straight from summer to winter in mid-September, so itā€™s going to be another long one. I would mind it less if it didnā€™t get so cold. Snow I like. What I donā€™t like is when it gets too cold to snow, lol. I think thereā€™s a word for that smell... petrichor?

  21. As do I. Bring on winter! Although preferably with snow instead of freezing rain, which is what we're due to get tomorrow. I hate freezing rain, it's all the misery without any of the beauty.

  22. I just came back from sitting on the bottom of a swimming pool in scuba class. Not sure I liked it, kept panicking.

  23. There are some people who seem to be able to do that. It doesn't seem possible, but our vet recommended one such "animal communicator" to us when one of our cats had some mysterious condition. She was able to tell us things that only we and the cats should have known, plus we asked her to explain to two of our cats that what they had been doing to one of our other cats was like something another cat used to do to them, that they hated -- and they never did it again. Dunno if there are animal communicators in your area, but they can work by phone
