    Game of Thrones

Cleagane vs. Cleagane scene would be MUCH better if they didn't planted that stupid Darth Vader face in the middle of it. They should have left him hidden and us wondering about Mountain's looks - as someone said, the best monster is one you never see. In contrary to you the disappointment over Jaime felt very GoT-ish to me. And don't you remember Varys' words about people steered by their gonads and what comes from it? I agree with the rest. Every important character point seemed misplaced, missed, poorly paced. Another stupidly ending series? LOST. Twin Peaks. Sherlock. The original Witcher books. Dune books. Also have heard of Alf, How I Met Your Mother… partially Westworld. I'm waiting for Man In The High Castle, Preacher and American Gods to end… badly Actually watching whole series in one piece might be helpful for not building up expectations.
  2. Here it was raining almost 24/7 for much too long already and it's beeping COLD as if St. Peter tried to make even with last year when we've had a summer from April to November. So far for "average seasonal temperatures"

You can see the surface of the sea is a kind of mirror. It reflects everything that's over it, from your POV. So when the horizon is bright, the water is also bright. With the other photos - it might be similar. 1 -the sun seems to be behind you, 2 - the quite diffuse light seems to come from the side. I'm guessing. Now it's up to you to find links.

    Well, not exactly… https://spaceplace.nasa.gov/blue-sky/en/
  5. Oooh, Ducky… We have to mention that he FINALLY won a BAFTA. After 8 nominations in (i think) 10 years. With Hawking, Richard III, Turing…
  6. The Dude reference made me laugh out loud. It took few seconds though, because it was so surprising that I didn't quite believe what I saw. It's even funnier because they updated the reference, using Crocks instead of plastic sandals. I wonder whose idea it was.

    Game of Thrones

Well, this might be the fate of all shows that started before they were written to the end.

Compared with Sherlock, I also follow GoT from afar. Maybe it would be different if Sherlock didn't cross my way - there is no way my brain can handle two obsessions at once. But I can also remember trying to follow some of the stuff online, but I noticed that it's all too complicated. BTW, I found out that the Night King was created by the Children of the Forest - as a weapon against the men. Apparently it's somewhere on screen, but I must have deleted it. So he is not a god… Yeah, complicated.
  9. Today I went ballistic at my boss. Okay, my probably-not-anymore-boss (he's suing the company over reducing his rank and salary, so he's a kind of Schrödinger's Boss now) but it felt… liberating. A collegue said she thought I would bite his head off, so maybe I should do it more often. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

    Game of Thrones

Now I could ramble about the strategic failures in the last episode. Ships cannot turn around very quickly. Dragons can. WTF, Danny? There are only two episodes left, so I don't have much hope for it, but I'd like to see the gods' layer in the whole story revealed. Just yesterday it occurred to me (after years of watching!) That the faces carved into trees resemble the old Three-Eyed Raven enclosed in a tree. It doesn't have to mean anything, but I would be happy if it does. Unlike the most of the genre religions and believes were beautifully forged here, and there are signs that for the GoT world they might be real. We have the Lord of Light who seems to have a lot of power, also the God of Death - both might be the same deity. Is the Night King also a god, another one or just a form of the others? He has powers too, but is it god-like or just magic, like the one of the Raven? Or not? Or what's about the Seven (they didn't care to show up, do they)? It would be nice to know. Really.

Ok-kay, I think the fluffy is over. The surprises are back.
  14. This! I think the worst thing about series written over years is not knowing the whole story at the beginning. I suspect it requires a different kind of writing, and it's a bit not good. You cannot spread the best ideas along the whole story, if you don't know how long it will be. And if you don't want to fire all your ammunition in the recent season, it might happen that your best ideas will die if the next season never comes. And this Avengers-thing is almost like a series.

    Recently watched movies

Funny, MIB, Alladin and Godzilla were in the ads before the movie. Also the new Lion King. Hell, all those movies are actually remakes, except MIB that's a follow-up.

The only prophecy I can recall, was the one that Cersey will lose her children.

I would rather say, we have been living in a vaccinated society for too long - there is no clearly visible reason for doing it. If you lost a family member or a child to one of the diseases, you wouldn't ask twice. It seems to be a luxury problem.

She had no idea at all. As she started to think about it, she brought up the "tree-wool" thing, but - as you noticed - it's not very helpful in German. Still, I've thought it's basic knowledge. BTW, just recently I was quite amused about a sudden, meme-based outrage at the way silk is produced - by "murdering millions of little caterpillars by boiling them alive". Umm… yes. Since thousands of years.
  21. It is, but it's not obligatory. Sometimes men uses the wife's name or both keep their own names. The marriage is a valid reason for the name change, so you don't have to beg for it. But I bet - if they would like to use a completely different name, it would be much more difficult.
  22. I bet a lot was different. I managed to visit DC in 2000 and believe me, with all that openness I have wondered how nothing had happened yet - and that many times. If we now tried to get to the Andrews Air Force Base (it was the idea of my host), we would both end in Guantanamo
