Thankfully it was confined to the garage. But the entire building stinks of it. It is a very old building. But I certainly hope we won’t have any more problems like that.

I thought that’d be a great song for a funeral when I heard it too.
-
Thanks FL! That’s an interesting question, and the answer is there aren’t any! I can honestly say I’ve never heard the same song played twice, with the exception of a few hymns (namely ‘Nearer My God To Thee’). Church funerals might see more repetition, but at the funeral home, song choices tend to be highly personalized by the family of the deceased. The most memorable for me was the funeral of a man who was known for his love of rock and roll. Throughout the funeral we played a list of his favorite rock songs, chosen by the family, and it was a very fun and upbeat atmosphere. You could really feel the spirit of the man. At the end of the funeral, the very last song played was this one: The acoustics in our buildling are very good, and the song resonated so beautifully. It was so pretty, and the tonal change was so drastic, it just stopped everyone in their tracks. No one talked or ate or moved, especially during the last minute or so. We all just listened. It’s one of my favorite moments from working there. My second favorite song choice was this one: So pretty, and it got a lot of people emotional.

To top off a crappy year, one of the three locations belonging to the funeral home I work at had an electrical fire last week. While we're waiting for repairs, the funerals that would normally take place at that building have been shuffled over to the one I work at, indefinitely. Which means my workload has just doubled.

Ready to hear something weird? Last Wednesday night, about 3 1/2 years after I posted my first dream post on this thread, I dreamt a continuation of that dream. Brains are weird.

Thanks Carol. It wasn't that bad, I just couldn't be less in the mood. It's been a bad year and I'm fully drained of anything that could potentially resemble "Christmas cheer" at this point. I'm just ready to get it over with.

... This was an interesting video I came across the other day. I agree with many of the points, as well as this comment I read: "@srebrnaFH Sherlock was always about characters. Specifically, about John Watson, around whom things happen. The issue with Season 4 is that John Watson stopped being John Watson at some point and became an anger-infested, twisted creature who forgives a murderer and beats up his best friend, blaming him for Mary's death. Writing in S4 is shoddy (the whole Eurus twist was nonsensical), the puzzles are weird and Mary's character (again) is put through such weird changes that we can't say if it was planned like that or Moffat just wrote another lousy female plot device into the whole thing and changed his mind too many times." -
I finished season 5 of "The Crown". It is probably my least favorite season so far. The acting is impeccable, as usual; however the story is lagging. Every episode felt like filler, the final episode was weirdly anticlimactic, and they're taking waaaay too long leading up to Diana's death. She's been the focal point of two seasons now. Just get on with it already. I know what a big deal she was to everyone, but quite frankly she's the least interesting part of the show to me. I'd rather see more of the other family and political dynamics that made the previous seasons so fascinating.

Winnipeg and Anchorage, specifically. Highs in the 30's here. Everyone's excited for the "warmth", lol.

8 degrees F and dropping. According to my weather app it's warmer in Canada, Alaska, Russia... I think the only place colder tonight is Antarctica, lol.

I've noticed water tastes vastly different depending on the source it's drawn from. In the city where I grew up and spent most of my life, the water supply came from a lake (protected, no one was allowed to swim or boat). That was the best-tasting water I've had, besides water from Lake Superior. The next place I moved to drew its water supply from the Mississippi River. That was the worst-tasting water I've had, barely tolerable, especially in the summer months. Now I live in a city that draws its water from wells. It's not good but it's tolerable. I use a Britta filter, which helps. I really miss that lake water. I've had Scottish water and Viennese water. I can't say I noticed their taste. Not to say that they aren't good; I just didn't notice, for whatever reason. -

When I was in Scotland I went to some fancy place (I forget the name of it) for high tea and was very disappointed to see no watercress or cucumber sandwiches. They've always sounded really good to me, I had been looking forward to trying them. The sweets were all very pretty of course, but I really wanted the sandwiches! -

I don't find it terribly surprising. It's information gathering. Google wants to cover everything. -

That's interesting, I always thought 'autumn' sounded more poetic. 'Fall' is such an abrupt, plain word, and far less evocative of the season in my opinion. Maybe because I also associate it with its other meanings. Don't forget 'thrice' and 'sennight'! Although I suppose 'week' is just as good for the latter. Other people in GB say 'sheer'? Strange, I've never heard that from a Brit or an American. Most people say 'shur', or if they get it wrong, they mispronounce it as 'shyer', like where the Hobbits live in 'The Lord of the Rings', lol. I don't say 'howzez' or 'house-ess', I say 'house-ezz', as do most people around me. -
Ditto. The series shows the Queen at different ages, progressively older. Every two seasons there is a different actress playing her. Claire Foy was cast as a younger Elizabeth for seasons 1-2. Seasons 3-4 featured Olivia Colman. Both actresses have been perfect for the role in my opinion, but seasons 3-4 were my favorites thus far. Imelda Staunton will be taking over as an older Elizabeth in seasons 5-6. I think season 6 is supposed to be the last one. It's a very good show, if you have any interest I'd encourage you to watch it. I have virtually no interest in the royal family and I still think it's one of the better shows I've seen in recent years.

It's been up and down here too. One week it's winter and the next it's summer. We are currently in summer. Winter will be back in a few days.

War movies aren't usually my thing, but this one has me intrigued. I'll probably give it a watch when it comes out. I'm hoping it'll be something like "1917", which was brilliant.
-
Looking forward to season 5!

Waking up to snow this morning was not the experience I wanted to have, lol.

That's my question. Life just will not let up.

That sounds amaaaaaazing! Hobbits and I are about equally voracious when it comes to mushrooms, lol.
