  1. Hey!!! It used to be cool when this forum (website) had snowflakes falling down as decoration. Why did they disappear? They were beautiful.
  2. Hello Fanki and welcome! :) This is what I know about 221 B Baker Street apartment; it is, at least on the Sherlock Holmes stories that I've read, pretty similar to the BBC series Sherlock. It has the same amount of stairs and they part in the middle, just like the series, for the apartment to have a view to the main road (Baker Street) at the windows, at least in the living room. It has a fireplace, in which Sherlock's and John's chairs (sofas) are located, but I'm not so sure about whether John Watson's chair is at the right side of the fireplace or at the left side; of course, the same problem with Sherlock's chair. I think you should read that up on some short Sherlock Holmes stories by Sir. Arthur Conan Doyle, the ones he published in a newspaper first and then were put all together in a book named "The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes" (or at least that's what the name is in Spanish). You will have tons of information from there!!! I can assure you that. Sherlock's kitchen is transformed into a whole chemistry lab, just like in the series, and of course, it should have old materials and lab instruments. There is also a chair for the visitors, clients, which is located in front of the fireplace, just like in the series. I know the apartment is full of old books everywhere; maybe even more than what the BBC series shows. Remember, they are old books, tons of them and very used. There's a room for Sherlock and a room for John too, John doesn't use it that much (especially after he got married), but he still uses it a lot when he participates on Sherlock's adventures. This is all the information I can give you about the apartment. You should definitely look everything up and read a lot of Sherlocks books and stories, they're the main source and what you want to know after all. The 221 B Baker Street address is located at the center of London, and remember it all happened at the Victorian age. Good luck!!!
  3. Hi Carol, Pons is Latin for bridge I believe. I did read of some significance with the name but I can't remember what it was. It's been said that he wanted a name that syllabically similar to Sherlock Holmes but it is a strange choice for a name. Of course there's a similar situation with the fictional detective Sexton Blake (who actually lived in Baker Street.) Pons is a little less, shall we say, cranky than Holmes! Pons is very popular. There's a society, for example, called The Praed Street Irregulars and I've also heard of a newsletter called The Pontine Dossier. I haven't got anywhere near all of the books (I think that I've got 4) but they are very good, especially if you can get them reasonably priced. Coincidentally I'm going to London on the 19th for an 11 day break (a couple of Holmes Walks included) and when I checked how to get the hotel I found that I'll have to walk down Praed Street! I'll see if 7b exists.
  4. And so many people believe that "Sherringford" is the name of another brother... Where did that fan theory come from? Thank you for sharing the meaning of the "East Wind", by the way.
  5. Hey! Hello, Bryony! (I like your name). Welcome! It is great that you fell in love with the BBC series and with Benedict Cumberbatch as Sherlock Holmes. I have been in London, and even though I love it just as Sherlock does, I don't live there. You know, Sherlock Holmes couldn't live in any other city that wasn't London. I am in love with the BBC series and couldn't change Sherlock for any other but the one from the original books. Which books or movies do you recommend?

  7. I had never heard of that book; it sounds interesting. I went to college with a gal who has cerebral palsy, but she's able to speak fairly well and can walk with crutches. According to Wikipedia, the author has a daughter with cerebral palsy, so I suppose the book is fairly accurate. It's nice to know that this young woman was able to speak and walk with crutches: for having cerebral palsy, it is like a gift. I am very happy for her. Yes, it is very accurate, from the point of view of an eleven-year-old girl. But, on the book itself, it says that the author does not have a daughter with cerebral palsy, that the fact is a popular belief, so I don't know what to believe :/ The book is very interesting, yes, and one of my favorites. It's worth reading a lot also, so I highly recommend it. Hey! I have read that a lot of people ship Mystrade, but why? ^_^ I would really like to know. And what do you think, or what did you think about ACDs works when you were fifteen?
  8. My cat offers that kind of help too!!! :D Thank you so much! I just realized there's this golden fish emoji: It reminds me so much of a book I read called "Out of my mind" by Shannon M. Draper. Nor that I'm changing the subject, but has anyone read it too?
  9. Hello, Crazy!!! Don't worry, I am just as new as you are here. Welcome! I started watching Sherlock Holmes this year (and finished it, of course. I didn't search anything that had to do with the series before I finished watching the last episode of Season 4). And it is one of my fandoms, yes (but the biggest fandom I've ever had). The series helped me through really hard times. So, why did you like the series so much? Was it because of the logistic kind of thinking behind everything? (Considering, also, how good was everything on the show). Forgive me if I make any mistakes in this language, I actually speak Spanish (annnnd, my cat doesn't stop bothering me ^_^ ).
  10. Yes. It is. Don't mind me, this sometimes happens in my brain. Yes, I do forget the main idea of things sometimes in my daily life.
  11. Again, sorry if I have been rude. It is so great that you have purchased de DVD set ^_^ Is it on Amazon too?
  12. I will!!! Do not worry. Drama is on its way (okay, no, but we all know what a Drama Queen is Sherlock, right? No...?)
  13. Aprilmay, I don't believe anyone has answered your second question. I don't know whether the Brett series was ever shown where you live, but it originally ran (between 1984 and '94) in the UK on the ITV channel, and also aired at about the same time on PBS television in the United States. Thank you so much! (I wonder how do you know all that, I don't know, it's a lot to remember (or maybe you're reading it on the Wikipedia, whatever, it doesn't matter, sorry if I'm rude :( )) But thank you so much, really!!! But, I think nobody recorded the series, right?
  14. Hello! I couldn't resist reading this thread, and I am very interested in Jeremy Brett (Not-BBC Sherlock Holmes). But, do you know where I can find those Sherlock Holmes series? And, where did you watch them in the first place? I am very eager to know. Get thee to Amazon.com! Thank you so much to both of you! Inge l-w, I am very happy to know your very own Sherlock Holmes is someone different. I don't know, I think I just like different opinions (although, for me at this time, whenever I think about Sherlock Holmes I think about the BBC series ). Also, thank you so much for receiving me on the forum ^_^

  16. Thank you, Arcadia! You're right, I'm new and I am shy, so I often hesitate about resurrecting old threads. But I will try my best because there is a lot of thoughts I want to share and discuss. Thank you so much for your support!
  17. Hello, Raghad! Sherlock is my favorite series until now too, and I don`t think I will ever change my mind :)The series helped through really hard times, especially the last episode. I feel identified! I am answering you because I want to meet other Sherlockians too ^_^ How is life in Egypt? Do people like Sherlock Holmes there? I am waiting for your answers
