And dare we even dream that PBS will do likewise?

I hope not, as TV viewing is never a possibility in my house at Christmas! :p

Hopefully PBS will play it by New Years Eve if BBC plays it by Christmas.

I don't know where I'll be... will probably have to find a bolt hole and hijack the TV for the night it airs.

Well if for some reason you end up in Minnesota, there are options.  And I'm sure the same goes for elsewhere from this section of the fandom.

Still think whenever it shows in the USA, it will be a delay from when it shows in Britain.

Probably.  *sigh*  But we can always hope.  After all, there's been a huge improvement already over Series 1 and 2.

Erm... Maybe filming begins tomorrow rather than Tues.?

Well, that tweet says 6:33 pm on the 4th -- but you're five hours behind her time zone, so that would be 11:33 her time, and she says she can't sleep -- so maybe she's already thinking of Monday as "today" and Tuesday as "tomorrow"?  Or maybe Ms. Brealey is filming something else tomorrow?  Of course it's possible that they announced the 6th as sort of an honorary filming date, since it's Sherlock Holmes's traditional (though not official) birthday.

If filming really does start on Monday the 5th, I expect we'll see some pretty indicative tweets in just a few more hours!

How much of a gap was there? I wasn't around for the suspense (thank goodness).

Series 1 aired in the UK in July, I think, and in the US in October.  Series 2 aired in the UK in January, and in the US in May.  So three or four months.  Series 3 had just a two or three WEEK gap.

Yipe. Thanks. Just as well I wasn't aware! The S3 gap was bad enough.

There were other options, of course -- even legal ones!  As soon as Alex and I heard those air dates for S2, we pre-ordered the Region 2 DVD from Amazon UK.  It was shipped shortly after the series finished airing on the BBC, and we had it in hand sometime in early February.  By the time PBS aired the series, we had everything just about memorized -- so that the infamous cuts were glaringly obvious to us (and that's another great PBS improvement for Series 3 -- no cuts!).

Oh... here's an idea for S4 - John KNOWS Mary and the baby are at home...and he gets word that the house has blown up... tremendous fire, and everything is incinerated... remains found but too damaged to extract DNA... and John has no place to go except back to 221B... and maybe Mary and the child are dead, and maybe they aren't....

So do we need a separate Setlock thread?  What about things that might be spoilers from set?  How does this work?

I think we should definitely have a #Setlock S4 thread.  I doubt any real spoilers will be there.  If they shoot at a certain location, who cares?  It doesn't tell us anything about the story.

Maybe what we could do is have a bit of fun just making up stuff about those locations.... like the concert hall... Mycroft gets roped into taking his parents to see "The Nutcracker" - we know how much he enjoyed taking them to "Les Miserables"!!!  LOL

A "Filming News" thread is definitely a good idea, and since sittything already went ahead and started one, I've moved the specifically filming-related posts to it.  See y'all over there!

I posted this under the 'Christmas special' news, but I think it belongs here instead. It's a new interview with Steven Moffat. Doesn't say a whole lot - you know Moffat!

. [season 4] is going to be… I suppose you’d say… consequences. It’s consequences. Chickens come to roost. It’s dark in some ways—obviously it’s great fun and a Sherlock Holmes romp and all that—but there’s a sense of… things… coming back to bite you. It’s not a safe, sensible way to live. It’s hilarious and exhilarating some days, but some days it’s going to be bloody frightening.

Hurray, food for speculation! So, what do we all think Moffat is alluding to? (Does he even know himself, considering that he says the series isn't actually written yet?)
