Hopefully at least they won't take Arwel Jones's cell phone away, and we'll get some tweets from the set.

Guess I need to add him to the people I follow.

He has interesting posts on twitter including stuff the would be an even more behind the scenes of setlock.

Right after I posted the above, my computer decided to hang up -- but now we're on speaking terms again, and I see that Jones has already posted some set-construction photos -- such as this one on November 25th, and this one on the 29th.

Also, it looks like crew members who post about the Special are using the hashtag #ShSpesh

When they were preparing for Series 3, Jones tweeted a picture very similar to #1 above on January 23, 2013, and he announced that the set was fully dressed on March 1st.  So starting this time on November 25th, that should work out to set completion in very early January -- except that the holidays intervene, which will presumably add a few days.

Continuing the calculations -- the January 23rd through March 1st Series 3 set preparation was followed by a read-through on March 11th and first day of filming on March 18th.  This time, they've reportedly already had the read-through, so set completion may be followed more or less immediately by filming in fairly early January.

I'm so ridiculously excited to be around for setlock this time.

Anyone else I should follow besides the guy mentioned above?  I think I already follow Gatiss.

The other one I have is Hartswood Films.  Not sure about the rest.  Seems like Arwel retweets others who use the #ShSpesh.

Which makes Sherlock a Capricorn, and Capricornian characteristics include determination, dominance (in what, I'm not sure), perseverance, practicality, and stubbornness.

Which describes Sherlock pretty well.

This similar article (based on Gatiss's Comic Con talk) also includes this quote:

Steven and I have written the Christmas special together. It's been a lot of fun. And it's almost entirely original - not really based on any of the stories.

So much for "The Blue Carbuncle," I suppose -- at least for now.

Then again, that article also quotes Gatiss as saying this:

Some of the episodes ... like The Blind Banker are Sherlock Holmes-like stories - entirely original but with all the elements that are the hallmarks of the original stories.

... whereas in my opinion, TBB was a heck of a lot like The Sign of the Four.  So the precise dividing line between an actual adaptation and an "inspired by" original story seems to be largely a matter of personal interpretation.

I think we need to trace back and find out when the original leak (I think it came from Freeman) was about the one-off special.  Gatiss did say that there would be NO Sherlock time-travel, so that should squash any of those ideas regarding what I suspect was that red herring photo that was released a few weeks ago with the boys in older costumes.  I'd say it could be some sort of costumed event, but Sherlock doesn't actively participate in events where there will be other people.  He made an exception for John's wedding but he left as soon as his duties were done...although there was a longing to stay and possibly dance with Janine except she was dancing with the geek.

But I digress...  The point is, I can't see him willingly jumping into a costumed event.  Now, what if it were one of those costumed murder mystery dinner theater things where you go from room to room to try to solve the murder... and all the guests are suspect as are the actors...only if Sherlock went and thought he had if figured out instantly only to discover there really is a murder.

Sounds reasonable.

That would be an interesting take on those costumes.

After all, he didn't even want to attend John's birthday party (Many Happy Returns) because there would be people there.  I think he was barely tolerant of the Christmas party in SIB - and all those people he knew well.

But Sherlock will do damned near anything for a case -- so if the costumes were required for going undercover at a costumed event ....
