Videos with hints at season 4? (possible spoilers!)

Recommended Posts

sorry, I oblivously meant season 4 in the title....

Some days ago I watched the following video on youtube. It is fanmade and shows how they were filming at a series 3 location. I won't say more here, because the video may contain a major spoiler and I don't want to spoil anything for anyone, so more in the spoiler-box:

The first scene in this video shows Moriarty and Mycroft leaving St Bart's, shaking hands. So, at least if they intend to use this footage, Moriarty must be alive, don't you think?:

Today I found this video which shows photos that were taken while filming series 3. Again, it may  contain  a spoiler:

At 1:06 we see Moriarty and I'm quite sure he's standing in front of St Barts hospital again - wearing Sherlock's coat...: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9lRn4i1AoaI

So:

Isn't this proof that Moriarty is still alive? Why else would they shoot such a scene?

Now I'm not done with my theory as to what we see - clearly Mycroft knew Moriarty wasn't dead, maybe he even supported him in faking his death. But why would he do so? And would he have told Sherlock? And why does Moriarty wear Sherlock's coat? Just a "I know you are obsessed with him"-present of Mycroft's or may there be a real reason?

If anyone even opened the spoiler boxes, I'd love to hear your theories!

I always thought I wasn't a very curious person, but I guess I was wrong!

Should I spoiler box my reply? I'm guessing the whole thread is a spoiler, and those who aren't interested will leave before reading my reply, so I won't 'box' it, unless someone asks me to.

Yeah, I saw that first youtube video before series 3 aired, even, but I assumed back then that they had just shot a scene to confuse us and keep us speculating. Now, though, I'm thinking you might be right. It's intriguing. I do wonder, though, why they would need to shoot a series 4 scene back then... Of course the answer to that could simply be that they had the rooftop scene all set up, and that it would be difficult to return to it again for the shooting of series 4.

I believe I've heard Moftiss quoted as saying that both of those particular scenes were just to confuse us.  Since they're so meticulous about always telling us the truth, I am forced to believe them.

From a historical standpoint, they've never filmed much if any of the following series' opener while filming a cliff-hanger.  They had to go back to the swimming pool for "Scandal" and they went back to Bart's for "Empty Hearse."  So yeah, I'm pretty sure those were just jokes.

It's either on the commentary or in an interview ... they shot it to fool the people watching from the street. Of course, then Gatiss promptly joked that maybe it was a real scene ... so who the heck knows? :)

That's right, Lestrade! You tell 'em! :D Mofftiss, that is.

Or, to quote someone else: "I wouldn't trust them as far as I could spit!"

I was afraid you'd say it was just to lead us astray :(

I'm sure they didn't say so in the dvd interviews, but maybe in one of the commentaries, haven't watched all of them in full, yet. I'll do some research later today, need to hear it with my own ears.

As to why they would need to shoot a series 4 scene back then: I think they might have done it because maybe Moftiss themselves weren't sure how they would deal with Moriarty, and if they decided to raise him from the dead, they'd need an explanation. And well, since they knew he wouldn't be back in series 3, they might have decided it is wise to do the filming of a possible explanation now. Why? Because Moriarty might look much older when they come to do it and it would look strange if suddenly the flashback-Moriarty looked older than the Moriarty on the roof. At least I think that Benedict really changed from series 1-3, and that might also happen to Andrew Scott.

I do still hope it's not a fake scene!

:lestrade:  Ooh, you bastards!

It is possible that the Mycroft/Moriarty handshake was a deleted scene.  They may have decided to show he was alive a different way.
