Hm, could be interesting.

I saw the new Moftiss production is apparently a modern Dracula, not sure how I feel about that - I'm guessing it's discussed in another thread? But I'm inundated with updates from threads every morning as is and I don't know if I can keep up with another one.

I heard about Martin's new gig a couple of weeks ago but was on the wrong device to put anything over here and might not have had the time either.

Looks like it's been a while since the last MF project update.

Here's the latest on Martin Freeman's upcoming projects:

Cargo is in post-production with a release date sometime this year.

Ghost Stories is also in post-production with a release date sometime this year.

Black Panther is currently filming, with release dates in 2018.

Funny Cow is finally filming as well, but without Freeman (who had stayed with the project for more than two years' worth of delays, but apparently left just recently, presumably due to the conflict with Black Panther).

Official Secrets is in pre-production with no release date as yet.

Cargo is due to premiere at the Adelaide [Australia] Film Festival in about five weeks.  There will be two performances, namely the official premiere the evening of October 6th and a matinee on the 7th.  Tickets are apparently still available for each.  And despite concerns about the film having been snapped up by Netflix, there is some serious online speculation that Netflix may give it at least a limited release in theaters (to make it eligible for the Oscars, etc. -- apparently Amazon has started doing this with some of their streaming movies).  So let's all keep our eyes and ears open.

Ghost Stories is also set to premiere at a film festival in about five weeks; this time it's the London Film Festival on October 5th.  IMDb does not yet list any general release date.  Weird.

Black Panther is now in post-production, with release dates in February.

And IMDb now lists Official Secrets (presumably the same film) as "in development," which sounds like Harrison Ford must be awfully busy with his new Indiana Jones project.

Just saw that The Eichmann Show (Martin's biopic about Adolph Eichmann's televised WWII war crimes trial) is on Netflix streaming in the US.

Booooo, I don't have Netflix (nor plan to). That's one I'd really like to see.

It's not a Netflix exclusive, though. Amazon has the DVD.

Yeah? Okay, somebody watch it for  me and tell me if it's worth the bucks. :D

What I was really hoping is that PBS would pick it up. Sounded like their cup of tea. Alas, no.

I've seen it, and it's good. Not great, but a well-above-average TV movie. And near as I can tell it's historically quite accurate, so it's even educational. I'd give it a B+.

Thanks Carol. Er ... how did you manage to see it?

Don't ask it might make you an accessory!

As I mentioned, Amazon has the DVD. Though that might have been Amazon UK, and therefore a Region 2 DVD. These days, it pays to have a region-free player.

Updates:

There's now a trailer for Ghost Stories -- in fact, here are three trailers.  The movie premieres in the UK on Friday, April 13, 2018.

This article claims that Official Secrets was nearly ready to start filming when everything was shut down, staff moved out of the offices they'd just moved into, etc.  No reasons were given.

Interesting choice for Martin. It actually looks like something I might like to see, although I'm usually not fond of horror films. But this looks more like psychological horror than the bloody kind, which I'm up for. Wonder if it will ever make it to the States. Too late for this Halloween....

Might help if I had a clue what they were talking about.

From what I can gather the young guy has a prosthetic nose so that he can play a younger version of MF. As his Marvel character I assume.

Ah. It also didn't help that I read the panels in the wrong order the first time.

Funny thing -- they're talking about this being a landmark of sorts -- a blockbuster film with a majority-black cast. So who are they interviewing?  Two white guys!  :lol2:  (But I'm guessing that this was a British interview, in which case they were presumably the two cast members most readily available and/or most familiar to the television audience.)

I noticed that too. Especially since there appears to be several interviews by the same person with the rest of the cast. But then I thought, maybe it's the Hobbit connection.

MF just filmed a sitcom pilot called Breeders (about being a parent) based on an idea he got from a dream.

That same article mentions that he also has an upcoming comedy film called Ode to Joy.

Do I dare hope it fails so he'll be available to film another Sherlock instead? Does that make me a bad person?

Drat. Now I feel guilty.

Here's a young Martin to cheer you up.

I don't like sitcoms much, I just never find them funny. But if it was his idea maybe it'll be dry and sarcastic enough I'll actually enjoy it. Though if it's about being a parent, it's probably only really funny to parents.

This man was born to play a Hobbit.  And John Watson.

Martin's eyes are dark blue but they always seem to photograph brown.  Am I the only one who thinks so?  I'd been watching 'Sherlock' for three years before I realized that MF's eyes weren't hazel or darker but actually navy blue.  They look more blue in the vid above this one.  When it dawned on me was when Sherl and John wake up in the drunk tank in So3 and John is sitting on the floor in a full blinding sunlight.  Only then did I see those orbs are actually blue.
