Spoiler Box problems

Split off from the "How can I post a Spoiler?" thread -- this is the place to post any and all spoiler-box problems:

Thank you, ladies, I shall try in the very near future, but since I cannot open spoilers, either, it may have to do with Apple's eerie love of protected software. At any rate, I can do this :rose: now, whereas in the past it eluded me.

One step at a time, huh?  Just keep at it, Inge, and you'll be a forum expert in no time.

You say you cannot open spoilers -- is anyone else having that problem, on their cell phones or otherwise?

Do you see the spoiler box?  It should look vaguely like this:

Spoiler    Show

...with the area between the two lines being where the spoiler would open.

If you're seeing that, what happens when you click the "Show" button?

Dear Carol, I'm so very sorry to bother you once again with my technical problems! I realise you have a life outside this forum, and it is nearly always a guilt trip when I stumble on something I cannot handle and you and Caya, and Arcadia and Baker Street Irregular immediately jump in to help. I am so very grateful, but I really do not deserve such TLC from all you kindly, patient moderators!

When I click on a spoiler box I get a black oblong. Many, many :rose:, :rose:, to you and every moderator on this forum!

Ah -- sounds to me like you're opening the spoiler box OK, but the background color inside it is more-or-less the same as the text color.

Could you try this and tell me what (if anything) happens:  Open a spoiler box (such as the one below), then highlight at least the inside of that black oblong (you can highlight a larger area if that's easier).  Now do you see any writing inside the box?

Handy spoiler text!

And no apologies are necessary -- this is what the staff is here for.  :)

Dear Carol, when I drag to highlight, it opens up! you wrote "handy spoiler box", right?

Yay!  I shall pass this info along to Tim, and meanwhile you have a workaround to help you read spoilers.

I split this thread off from "How can I post a Spoiler?" and since your post is the first one here, you're credited with starting the thread.

I use tapatalk on my iPhone and I can click on spoiler boxes with little issue (usually fat fingering if there is) and I end up typing in the spoiler code manually when I'm on my phone. Haven't tried it in safari yet as I don't have my password memorized. If that can be of any help for Inge's issue.

Carol, you're a genius, I would never have figured that out.

That sort of thing happens a lot when people are using regular cut-and-paste instead of the forum's quote function -- the result apparently looks just fine on most themes, but somehow on my favorite theme, IP.Board, it ends up as very close to black-on-black.  So it sounded familiar!

Hopefully the above info will give Tim enough clues to be able to find and fix the problem (assuming that it's something the software gives him access to).  Meanwhile, there's a workaround.
