Greetings from Finland

Hello there,

 

Here speaks a new Sherlock fan from Finland. I just recently watched seasons 1-3 and got hooked immediately. I first saw Sherlock series a couple of years ago when season 1 was just released, but didn't get excited about it back then. Then, many years later, I watched the Hobbit movies and really liked Martin Freeman's performance. Through that I got interested in Sherlock and here we are. ;)

At first I definitely thought that John is my favorite from the two main characters, but when the series went on, I wasn't  sure anymore which one I prefer. After the wedding episode and Sherlock's speech I was very touched and liked the way he cracked a little and showed emotions. I'm really looking forward to Season 4.

 

A few facts about me:

 

- I'm an introverted person, but I still enjoy deep and interesting discussions with people who share same interests.

- I love to draw, as you might see from my avatar which I made myself.

- I have a thing for British accent. Yes. I just realized recently that the most of my favorite actors are from Britain...

- I love fanfiction and fanart. Yup! They are my another weakness besides British accent.

- I haven't read the original books yet. I would really like to though. I read the LoTR books not until now and maybe next will be the original Sherlock stories.

 

Yeah, now I have to start exploring the forum and getting to know another fans. Cheers. o/

Hi Hanna, welcome. Yes, here we are, all stumbling, waiting for season 4, trying to drag each other deeper into obsession to have fun discussion.

 

Anyway we share quite a lot in common, I am an introvert but also enjoy deep discussion with someone I can click with, on almost every topic, sometimes sending more 'normal' friend into coma. I love to draw but mostly landscape although haven't done it for years. I also haven't read the book yet but mostly because I don't have the time and the mood. There is always something else.

 

However I am not into fanfict, but I think there are a lot of nice fanarts posted around this forum, and I am indifferent with accent, but hey, 3 out of 5 is not bad.. :p

 

You can post your fanart around if you want to, I'd love to see some as it could prove you are more obsessed than me, eh.. I'd love to see some and I'm sure some others too.

It depends what you are interested to see. If you enjoy big cities and architecture I recommend Helsinki (it is an easy start for Finnish trip, lots of attractions and public transport works very well) and Turku (the oldest city of Finland).

If you like smaller towns, I would recommend my town of origin Rauma, which has a very nice archipelago and Old Town. Here is a link: http://www.rauma.fi/en/what-to-see-in-rauma

 

If you like nature and extreme experiences, I would recommend Lapland. I have never actually been there, but there are many attractions and beautiful landscapes to see. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lapland_%28Finland%29

 

And I have to say, especially if you go to smaller places, you should definitely find a local guide, because locals know the best and the most interesting tourist-free places.

3/5 is pretty good. ;D I have noticed that here are so many interesting people. I have definitely found the right forum to be in!

 

I would be very interested to see your drawings too. Myself I suck at landscapes, most of my pictures are portraits of gorgeous men. Unfortunately, I haven't done so much Sherlock fanart yet...
