That article also includes this quote:

25- ‘I think that there are certain crimes which the law cannot touch, and which therefore, to some extent, justify private revenge.’

... which Google tells me is from The Adventure of Charles Augustus Milverton.  Not sure I'd ever noticed that part before, at least as it applies to His Last Vow.
