I've been in one that was like the last picture, I shudder to recall.

I haven't encountered these in real life, but as I had posted before, there are plethora of hotels that use tranparent glass or visible frosted glass or barely concealed toilet wall, I think maybe about 75% modern minimalistic hotels that I visited do that. You almost always have to kick your roommate out to the lobby or you shouldn't bunk with someone you mind seeing each other in birthday suit.

But I had encountered quite a number of scary 'toilet' before. One of the worst, I probably had mentioned this, was the one with three sides of wall, triangle shape. Their definition of wall here is thin cloth wrapping around three flimsy pole, about 10cm (4") above ground, and... wait for this, 80cm height, maybe 2-3 foot? It barely covered anything. But it shouldn't be a surprised (IT FREAKING WAS) because one of our missions (it was voluntary social work in uni) in that remote island was helping to improve the public facilities, including yes, the toilets. Luckily we girls, not many of us, managed to find another more proper toilet in the village head's house, although it has no frigging door and has low windows, we had to help each other by guarding those.

I think the most terrifying toilet I ever encountered was in Cambodia … it was literally just a hole in the ground. Under a tree, but otherwise out in the open. Fortunately, I seem to have dismissed from my mind whether I actually had to use it or not. I was about eight. Oh, the childhood memories....

A friend told me she couldn't find a toilet there, and had to use umbrella as a desperate try to provide cover for herself.

I think no amount of umbrella, beach's or Mycroft's would ever be adequate for this nightmare.

Well, at least we now know why Mycroft always carries that brolly!  Who knows when he might need to make an emergency trip to Serbia -- or Cambodia.

He has to be careful though, his brolly got those sharp end, weapon, he wouldn't want to misplace them when he is using that as emergency toilet cover.

Today I had a dream - a crossover of The School Doomsday and The Loo Apocalypse.

I was at some school, trying to find out about the exams I'll have to take (3 Months, no idea about what the exams would be) and while running around through this school/uni building I made a little trip to the toilet. Messy as usual in my dreams, but it was the first time I remember, when I've got massively contaminated during that visit. Woke up from trying to wash my blazer. Urgs…

Earlier this week I dreamt that I was transported to a parallel Earth where trees could uproot themselves and relocate.  They typically moved together in large herds, traversing long distances.  Sometimes entire forests would stampede, leveling everything in their path.  I was just about to learn how people had adapted their housing and such to accommodate this “natural disaster,” when I woke up.

I had another of those dreams… I needed a while after waking up to reassure myself: I'm 50+, I never enlisted to a class for getting a master craftsman's diploma that was much too stressful for me. and I'm not late fighting with my car. And yes, I've had dreams about missing school or exams I'm totally unprepared for, but it were DREAMS!

There are two kinds of dreams I get. One can be dramatic (recently I dreamt a whole new Avengers movie), but even if I experience them in first person, I'm still kind of watching them like movies, emotionally unattached. The other kind is when I dream a stressful life situation and it's VERY emotionally engaging and feeling real to the degree that after waking up I need time to recall my real life.

It's been three times in a row now that I've had crazy adventurey Loki dreams after posting Loki pics in the Superheroes thread, lol.  I can only recall the very end of this one because it was interrupted by two, even weirder, unrelated dreams in the middle.  Loki and I were on the run from some people; government people, I think.  We escaped the chase when we ducked into a diner and Loki used an illusion to disguise us.  After that, we booked a motel room for the night.  There was only one bed, and Loki plopped down in the middle of it, assuming he'd take the whole thing, like the snobby prince he is.  He thought the floor was too disgusting to sleep on, but apparently it was good enough for me, lol.  So we were bickering about that when I woke up.  I'm pretty sure I smacked him with a pillow.

That's the cool thing about dreams -- it's like imagining things without constantly being interrupted by your conscious mind saying "don't be silly, that couldn't happen!"  I think I'd have trouble imagining or daydreaming that I was a unicorn, because my only  experience with having four legs is from crawling, and it's hard to prance on your hands and knees.  But in a nighttime dream, those brakes are off.

Are those alternative you's real?  My gut feeling is that they represent some aspect of you, but (obviously!) not the whole you.  I don't know if you've ever written a story, but characters in a story all come from the author's imagination, so in a sense they *are* the author, but only in certain aspects.

In short, I'm not a dream expert, but I think it's safe to say that it's perfectly normal to have weird dreams.

it's just that when I dream it's like I'm watching a film and then if I really like the dream I'll enter the body of a character in it. then that character just becomes me; I've been a teenager, a little kid, a unicorn...
are they like real; these variations on me? cos there isn't a whole lotta science on dreams so yeaah...

I don’t think it’s abnormal, I do that too.  I can be any character or gender in a dream, even an animal; and it’s not uncommon for me to switch between characters.

I like Carol’s analogy.  You’re sort of the “author” of your dream, so in a sense every character is “you”, because it’s all generating from your brain.

I think we've discussed this somewhere on the forum before, but has anyone else experienced "prophetic" dreams?  I occasionally dream of conversations, people, and places I've never seen before, which then appear months or years later.  There's no way of knowing which of my dreams are "prophetic" until I actually see the thing I dreamt about, and they're never about anything meaningful, as far as I can tell.  (Although as I sit here typing this, it occurs to me that two of the locational dreams were about a murder, which now makes me wonder... hm...)

I'm not the only person in my family whose brain does weird things.  My paternal grandmother and a few of my aunts also had prophetic dreams, but my grandmother's were actually useful.  One of them probably saved my uncle's life.  Relatives on both sides of my family are empaths and sympaths; and as children, two of my cousins were able to communicate with each other in their sleep, even miles apart.

I'm bringing this up because on March 30th, I dreamt that the actor Tom Hiddleston desperately needed an organ donor (a kidney, I'm pretty sure); though I fail to recall whether it was for him or a close relative... maybe a sister.  It sounds dumb when I say it, lol.  It is dumb, but I can't seem to forget it, and it's been nagging at me off and on since then.  But I also can't just be like, "Excuse me Mr. Hiddleston sir, I sometimes dream about the future and I dreamt that you needed a kidney, so maybe you and yours could go get yourselves checked out by a doctor just in case.  Also I'm not a crazy person."  There's a 99.9% chance that it was just a random, weird, completely meaningless dream, as per usual.  But I hope I don't hear a few years from now that he or someone close to him is terminally ill with some kind of kidney disease.  I'll kick myself.

Alex has dreams like that sometimes, about places he's never been and doesn't recognize.  Then sometimes, years later, he'll visit someplace he's never been, and it looks like the place in his dream.  That's usually about the extent of it, though, as far as things "coming true."  The dreams he has about bad things happening seem so far to be just bad dreams.

From what I've heard, if a person's kidneys are anywhere near needing a transplant, they'll feel really awful, and presumably the same with other organs.  So if someone in the Hiddleston family really did prompt your dream, they're probably already aware of their health problem.  Hope that sets your mind at ease!

*sigh* I kinda envy you, though I know it's probably a double-edged sword. I have a handful of places that I keep seeing in my dreams every now and then, though I've never been there ... but the point is, I *know* these dreams are not prophetic because the locations simply don't exist and never will. Like, one of them is an altered version of Disneyworld, and it's so different in some ways (and, frankly, inferior to the real deal) that know it can't be any of the other parks either (besides, my parents have been at every single one, and I've seen the pics, so nope on that front as well) and it's none they're ever going to open (see, inferior, above). Yet, I keep revisiting that place in my dreams instead of the real one (which I actually would prefer), and I have zero idea why my stupid brain is so fixated on it.

Interesting!  Could you post a few of the differences?

Well, it's surrounded by a low white brick wall, which you're walking along from bus stop to entrance, and that level of security or lack thereof would never fly with Disney, for starters. Also, there's what looks like a natural copse in the northwest, but if you know where to walk, you come to a secret testing area where new rides are being tried, and if you find them, you can do so as well. Can you imagine how trampled down that poor forest floor would be in real life?   To say nothing of the liability nightmare of letting the general public get to and mess around on your untested attractions. There are lots of little differences as well, like the cheap pathways, but they're not nearly as striking.
