I just WISH I could post a video of the tune that's been stuck in my head.  It was probably being used as background music in an episode of either Friends or Ellery Queen -- so even if I could remember where I heard it, the source wouldn't identify it for me -- but it's orchestral, probably either classical or else old and quasi-classical.

Thanks, Martina, I've bookmarked that site for future reference.  Unfortunately it's no help at the moment, because even though I can hear the music in my head -- well, as I said a while back:
