Oh my....

Sherlock and John are wearing top hats!!!

Now I really cannot wait.

Well, there are photos (spoilers, obviously) of their attire, but they aren't wearing these yet, sadly.

eta: If you scroll down here(yet more spoilers) you can at least see them holding them ;).

Well, I'm going to assume that since they are carrying them, they will wear them at some point :) (I certainly hope so, lol).

Hubby spotted this on the Radio Times web site, posted today.  I'll put it in a spoiler box for the sake of the truly timid, but it's not much of a spoiler, honest!

It's Eggs Benedict Cumberbatch as Sherlock stars enjoy breakfast at Speedy's Cafe

Cumberbatch and Amanda Abbington were snapped stopping in for refreshments as filming continued on series 3 of the detective drama

Paul Jones
1:16 PM, 25 April 2013

Speedy’s Café in north London is famous among Sherlock fans as 221B Baker Street’s next door neighbour. Actually located on Camden’s North Gower Street, it’s a fully functioning eatery selling a range of fresh food (including the Sherlock wrap – chicken, bacon, cheddar cheese, crispy lettuce, red onions, red peppers, cucumber and chilli sauce since you ask) and was open for breakfast this morning as filming continued on Sherlock series three episode two, The Sign of Three.

Speedy’s tweeted a snap of Benedict Cumberbatch and his new co-star Amanda Abbington taking a morning break. We're not told what they ate, but we’re betting at least one of them had the eggs…

If you're looking for the speculative discussion on what "bow" might mean (as regards the plot of Episode 3), it's got its own thread now.  See you over there!

Hubby just pointed out that Radio Times has a "Sherlock series 3 filming diary" online.

This past Tuesday, they posted the following (bit of a spoiler, I suppose):

]Tuesday 23 April

Sherlock goes boating – and a new director is revealed

The latest in the Sherlock crew's "beautiful morning" series of tweets was "Beautiful morning for a crane shot...", from director of photography Steve Lawes, together with a sunny canalside snap from the Sign of Three shoot. Will Sherlock and John be messing about on boats in this adventure? Or perhaps the happy couple from the wedding are honeymooning on a barge...

Meanwhile, we discovered that Doctor Who director Nick Hurran looks set to be in charge on the series three finale.

  • 2 weeks later...

From Radio Times:  Another S3 new cast member was revealed on Tuesday 30 April:

My Mad, Fat Sherlock

A BBC insider confirmed to us that Sharon Rooney, star of E4 drama My Mad, Fat Diary, had been cast in Sherlock, while exec producer Sue Vertue warned how filming on the series could play havoc with your waistline: "Problem with night shoots is you can tot up about 6 meals a day if you wake up early enough. 2.30am is apparently cake time!"

And a slightly more spoilery version of the same thing from Metro:

ay_101597025.jpg?w=650#038;h=667

My Mad Fat Diary actress Sharon Rooney is set to appear in the third series of Sherlock, after it was revealed that her CV contains a credit for the show.

Rooney’s CV on the website for talent agency TROIKA states that she will play a character named Laura in the first episode of the next series, The Empty Hearse.

The actress is best known for her acclaimed performance in E4 comedy My Mad Fat Diary, which will return for a second outing this year.

This appears to tie in very nicely with the third item reported in the Casting Calls thread.

Lookit who's been seen on set:

Plaintive petition for help @Carol: I tried uploading an image to cloudspace and then inserting it here with the img tags as you taught me, and it showed up just fine in the preview, but wouldn't let me post because I "wasn't allowed to use this extension" or something (?) ... which got me confused, for it was a simple .jpg one. Where did I err?

Thanks for the news.  Yay!

Fortunately (!) I just had a similar experience -- or at least that's what I thought at first -- but then I noticed that there was an "html" after the "jpg" in the URL, and I realized that I'd gotten the address of the page that the image is on, rather than the address of the image itself (or something like that).  So then I did what I should have done in the first place:

Right click on the image, and you should get a drop-down menu

Left click on "Copy Image Location"

Paste that URL into your post

And let me know whether that helps.   :D

Thanks for the help, Carol, but it still says "You are not allowed to use that image extension on this community." (copied it this time)

Ah well, time to sign up for flickr or imgur or whatever, maybe the site just doesn't like Wuala.

There's a bunch of additional stuff following the "jpg" in that URL above, which might explain the problem -- except that it doesn't, because I tried stripping it off, and still no go with the code.

Undead Medic, do you have any ideas?

There's a nice picture in this mag (spoiler in the link title, photo even more so, though it's hardly news at this point):

Last day of filming for S3 E2 (and some pick up for E1, it seems). Lots and lots of photos reblogged at Geny's site (spoilers, obviously).

That one looked particularly interesting imho:

They don't look too happy.

eta: There's a handy round-up now.

And this one's just adorable (no spoiler, ooc):

Said to have taken place after their last scene together (till August, anyway).

eta: And here's Mark and Martin.

Just found this one (spoiler):

That is supposedly an E1 pick up, therefore the mustache. But am I seeing things or is he actually wearing Sherlock's scarf from S1 or S2 (not sure, but it sure isn't that intense blue thing from S3)? Mustache says, if I understand the timeline correctly, that there's a good chance he doesn't know Sherlock's alive yet. If he doesn't know and therefore wears that scarf as a keepsake or something, that would be so touching .

eta: Never mind. You can see it better here, and it's not one of Sherlock's, more's the pity.

Alex & I were at North Gower Street today.   :D

We were too far away from the filming for our little camera to show much resolution, but we did get some good shots of the set-up.  It's amazing the tiny details they paid attention to.

We have airplanes to catch the next couple of days, but I'll post some photos when we're back in Indiana.

I'm more interested in the guy in the gray wig with his hands behind his back with the distinctively curved thumb.

May I ask why? Am I missing something completely here?

Ah, I was just worried I'd missed some detail - maybe being a Game Of Thrones fan has made me a bit paranoid .

This article in the Daily Mail has some pictures from last day's filming, too, and no spoilers as far as I could see.

So the last episode of Season 3 isn't to be filmed until August. More waiting....but I suppose we have put up with it this long. What's another 2 months?

That Daily Mail's first crowd photo was taken during actual filming, and shows maybe half of the fans that were there by then -- a few hundred total.  Alex & I were just barely to the right of what you can see in the picture.

The second "crowd" photo was taken much earlier in the day, during set-up.

And this photo from Sherlockology was apparently taken at the morning shoot (while set-up was taking place for the afternoon shoot):
