  10. Specifically looking for forums to do with Sherlock! This was the first result so... here I am!
  11. Personally, I very highly doubt Doyle intentionally wrote Holmes and Watson's relationship as romantic or even ambiguous (someone told me Doyle was very homophobic), but my imagination likes to beat down common sense and run away so when I read the stories with a slash fangirl mindset needless to say it is much more enjoyable. I like to believe that Holmes is in fact asexual since he clearly favors intelligence over attractiveness, and while he may be able to appreciate beauty, he has no inclination towards having a sexual relationship with a man or a woman. I really didn't like the relationship between Holmes and Irene Adler in the Robert Downey Jr. movies because it really seem at all canon to me. I'm just going to ship Johnlock anyway.
  12. I've been dreading the series myself. What I have come to understand is that CBS came to the producers and creators and people at BBC working on 'Sherlock' asking for the rights to do an American version, however they said no and CBS went ahead and did one anyway. My friends and I decided we're just going to watch it when it comes out on Netflix so as not to increase their ratings. Like Steven Moffat said, they changed it too much.
  13. Can't leave the house without my glasses. I've tried contacts but I feel too self-conscious (the fact that my friends tell me I look weird without them just adds to the embarrassment). But I'm usually very forgetful with other things. When I take my watch or bracelets off before I take a shower, I usually forget to put them back on.
  14. It's really tough. For me, it's different for each adaptation. With Brett and Rathbone, I'd have to go with Holmes (obviously), but in the Guy Ritchie films I might prefer Watson just by a little bit. In Sherlock I don't think I could choose one. They are both played wonderfully and in that show, you really can't imagine one surviving without the other.
  15. I hope there are some disguises involved when Sherlock comes back, but I also hope he gets a good punch to the face and then tells John what happened (and while he tells it we obviously get to see clips of what he's been up to). I feel like he would be anticipating the punch, though, and he would probably have already thought of every possible way John could have responded.
  16. I think possibly my favorite canon reference in the show was in ASIP when Anderson said that Jennifer Wilson probably wrote "Rache" because it meant "revenge" in German, but Sherlock dismissed the idea and closed the door on his face because she was trying to write "Rachel". If you remember from A Study in Scarlet, the word "Rache" was written on the wall in blood which Holmes said was German for "revenge", after Lestrade says that there must be a woman named Rachel. I really loved that bit.
  17. Definitely love-hate for me. I understand that since it's a big Hollywood production, they needed action and romance... but I can't help but feel annoyed at the romance between Adler and Holmes and how there seemed to be a lot more kicking and punching than deducing. I love Sherlock (among many other things) because of how true it is to the book, which is a really important factor to me.
  18. Wow, my rant sounds pitiful compared to everyone else's issues... but I can't stand the book my school is forcing the high school to read. Personally, I'm a fan of classic literature, but I really don't try to force my opinion on others if it's not their cup of tea and I can only hope that they do the same. However when I'm forced to read a book written in a style that drives me crazy and narrated by a teenage girl with absolutely no personality to speak of, I can't help but feel the impulse to complain and rant to anyone that will listen. All my friends are avid readers but they love this book and it makes me feel like even more of an outcast since they all hate books written earlier than twenty years ago. I just wish my school didn't force us to read one book. They really can't choose something that will fit everybody's taste, so why can't we just choose our own book? I'm almost halfway through but I keep putting it off. I don't know how I'll ever finish it.
  19. That's so cool (and what a great deal!).
  20. Hi there! I know very few people who actually read the Conan Doyle stories, and even fewer that watch Sherlock... so I'm here to meet new Sherlockians from all over. Nice to meet you! -Zoe
