I really want to believe that, but then why did Mycroft tell Sherlock to turn down the job when they are at their parents' house? He presented it like it really was a "six months and then Sherlock dies" kind of deal. Plus, when John asked Sherlock about how long he'd be in Eastern Europe, Sherlock seemed convinced he was going to die. The clincher for me was the "remember the other one?" part...kind of ruins my conception of Mycroft as loving older brother. Completely agree. Mary did exactly what Sherlock would have done in that situation, and I love her even more for it.

Can we please please talk about the fact that Mycroft was totally willing to send his brother to certain death because he killed a man everyone wanted dead anyway, but turns the plane around second Moriarty is back in the picture??? For me, the whole Mary "betrayal" thing is nothing compared to what Mycroft did! It's not like Mary went to Baker street and hunted Sherlock down--she was trying to kill Magnussen to free herself from her past, and it wasn't her fault that Sherlock and John interrupted her. Plus, Sherlock and Mary both understand that John loves them because of, not in spite of, their cunning/duplicity. Mycroft, on the other hand, what on earth was his excuse?

In the show, Sherlock was never a drug addict, was he? He just used to smoke....kind of makes me question the rest of the article.

Also...when we've only got 8 episodes, we can't really afford to dislike 2 of them (for long)

Just watched the episode again and Mycroft's "Redbeard" reference reminded me of how Sherlock wanted to be a pirate when he was a kid....so I did some googling and found this: http://thenorwoodbuilder.tumblr.com/post/72490130551/conspiracy-theory-of-the-day Here's the crux of it: "what if Mary were living under a fake identity to escape some kind of hold Magnussen had over her, a hold he could take advantage of in order to use her against Sherlock (and John)? What if Mycroft, having kept John under surveillance for the two years of the Great Hiatus, had investigated Mary, too, and Mary’s past, and discovered the connection - or at least that her identity is a fake? What if Mycroft told this to Sherlock far before the wedding, and warned him more than once not to get attached to her, not to cultivate hopes for John’s future happiness, not to get ‘involved’, and were now remembering his brother of the (real) situation?" *goosebumps!*

Another point about Mary--did it seem weird to anyone else how she didn't do more to get John out of the bonfire in TEH? She stood back while Sherlock actually dug through to John. In light of her possible involvement with CAM, the part in the telegram about wishing her "family could have seen this" seems possibly even more sinister, now that we know she's pregnant.... I really really like Mary but there are so many little but super suspicious details about her!

About Sherlock's "reveal video" to Anderson--I'm wondering if it actually is the real explanation, despite being a bit disappointing, because it contained the thing that we missed (or at least I did): the squash ball under the armpit was, literally, how Sherlock faked being dead. That scene in TRF where Sherlock's sitting on the floor of the lab playing with the squash ball always stood out to me because it reminded me of House (MD) and seemed out of character for Sherlock, but I couldn't figure out why it seemed significant until now. Thoughts?
