I didn't think there was anything special about how he treated her at christmas. I mean, he didn't lash at at only her; healso treated Greg and John's girlfriend worst than usual. He was probably like that because of the situation with Irene. I think he disregarded Molly but treated her nicely sometimes due to some feelings of gratefullness for her help or maybe because he deep down felt bad about treating her badly/using her when she was so nice and loyal. However, when (in the last episode) she showed him she wasn't stupid and that she liked him so much she would be a doormat willingly to help him, Sherlock started looking at her with different eyes and because of that started seeing her worth. When he goes to ask her help and says she matters, at that point I think he meant it.

Favourite Books & Favourite Writers
Lirael replied to Undead Medic's topic in Movies & Entertainment
Favorite series: Discworld (Terry Pratchett), Tales form the Wyrd Museum (Robin Jarvis), Narnia (C.S. Lewis) and the Desperate Duchesses series (Eloisa James) Favorite authors: Terry Pratchett, Jane Austen, Marian Keyes, Eloisa James & C.S. Lewis Favorite standalone book: Pride and Prejudice (Jane Austen) Honorable mention: the Harry Potter series., specifically books 1 to 3. I loved the first book so much it's what made me start liking to read. Sadly, it's not a favorite series because I didn't enjoy the last books so much... -
Other "Takes" on Sherlock Holmes
Lirael replied to Banshee's topic in General Sherlock Holmes Discussion
I read somewhere that Sherlock Holmes wa sinspired by a character in Dickens' Bleak House. -
Hum, I think it looked pretty clear it was Sherlock that jumped...unless he put a mask and his clothes on Moriarty's corpse and pushed him...oh hey! That could happen, right?

Is "The Mentalist" a Take on Sherlock?
Lirael replied to Banshee's topic in General Sherlock Holmes Discussion
I never noticed the comparisons, lol. Personally, I always thought Mentalist was a serious take on Psych...and now I'm thinking of the similarities between Psych and Sherlock... -main character acts as a consultant for the police -solves cases by noticing what noone else does -has a best friend that goes with him in all his cases -said best friend works as pharmaceuticals salesman And I'm pretty sure there's more... -
I didn't mean in the Sherlock Holmes fandom, but in the Sherlock one. The fics based on the books and movies have the normal number of bad, normal & good fic. The good thing about being neither american or british is that you don't notice too often when something is not in Brit-speak ^^ ?

When you talk about the standard in this genre of fanfiction, do you mean in the Sherlock fandom or in general? From the fandoms I've been in the last year, I can safely say Sherlock's has the highest quality bar. Even the 'worst' stories have far better grammar, spelling and less OOCs than in other fandoms. If I were studying psychology i'd definetly want to do a case study to see if there's a reason for this...

I won't lie: I do download books for free sometimes. Depending on how much I like it I'll: A- not buy it or read it again B- buy on my Kindle or C- buy physical copy (only if I love it cause i have to pay shipping costs to my country and find a space for it somewhere in my crowded room). I do something similar for movies and music. Hell, watched a movie 3 times in 3 D after seeing it for free. Now, when it comes to things that are not available my views change: if something is only available to you by illegally downloading it beforehand, then the creater isn't losing money is he? I mean, take the series Sherlock for example: It doesn't air in Brazil, I would never have bought the Dvds if i hadn't watched it for free first. Merlin, sadly, doesn't even have Dvds to buy here so download it is...

I found it for free on the internet, but it's been over a week so I don't remember where ;_;

^I'm probably the dumb one here, not you, because which is THE quote?

I'll try to answer without giving away spoilers. The plot is logical, although I could see who the culprit was from a mile away. There were times it almost felt like a Sherlock Holmes novel, but when it came to describing people, specially women, it was very different. I liked Watson, but Holmes wasn't very in character; I felt as if he wasn't a sharp as he should be. One thing I found funny is that, although this is a mature m/m fic novel
