Lol! Hey, what about the lesbians and bisexual women? Don't they deserve some representation on TV without making it all about pandering to male fantasy? It's not fair to deprive the ladies their little pleasure just so we can keep the men in check. If the guys go all crazed-fanboy over it... just think of it as an unfortunate side effect, rather than a desired outcome.

My favorite scene: Sherlock getting enraged because an American has attacked Mrs. Hudson. Afterwards, having successfully captured the bastard and tying him up, he said to John, "I was restoring balance to the Universe." Lol! The look of pure rage on his face as he stepped foot in 221B Baker street and assessed the scratch marks on the wall, indicating that Mrs. Hudson has been taken hostage, was so intense that I felt real dread over what he might do to the intruders (of course, I was cheering just as loudly when he chucked the American out the second floor window). That was the moment I first felt a genuine human connection to Sherlock. If I ever thought him incapable of empathy and love before, this moment made me realize I barely know him at all, and that with all I thought I knew, I've only just scratched the surface of all that is Sherlock Holmes.

Would have been more interesting if they made both characters into women. That keeps the dynamic between the characters kind of the same, while adding an interesting new twist. There hasn't been a noteworthy female duo on American TV since Xena and Gabrielle back in the 90s. I wonder how a female Sherlock and Watson in modern day would interact with one another... Anyway... with John now being Joan, but much you folks wanna bet Sherlock and his sidekick are gonna hook up somewhere down the line? Heh that was probably the intention behind them giving John a sex-change. God forbid they have the balls to instigate anything homosexual between two main characters on American TV, you know?

Hey now... isn't this a thread for ranting? ^_^ Of course we know that not all fans are the same, and of course generalizing about any group of people is unfair to the whole. But this thread is for letting loose, right? Being a little superlative in your complaint is ok. If you have to qualify every subject you rant about or diligently moderate yourself every time you feel like complaining about somebody or some group, where's the fun in that? ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ And Lirael... you didn't have to drop out of the fandom just because of some bullies. Should've just stayed and troll them. That's what I do when the crazy ones start getting abusive. It's so much fun riling them up and watching them huff and puff about. Have a little fun next time. It's the internet. Don't let them ruin things for you.

Many thanks, guys.

Hi, people. I'm very late to the party, I know. Unbelievably, I've only just discovered "Sherlock" this past week actually. It's not like I've never heard of it before. I've seen articles written about it here and there, of course, but I've always just ignored those. This didn't look like something that would appeal to me... the lead actor was kinda funny-looking, and the concept for the show is a little ridiculous. I mean, Sherlock Holmes? ...In the 21st century? Lame, gross, count me out. (Go ahead, throw your eggs and tomatoes, folks. I deserve it, I know. ) I only started watching because I was bored and there was nothing good on TV... and now, I'm happy to be eating my words, re-watching old episodes, joining the fan forums, and praising the show up and down to anyone who cares to listen. I really love this show. I still remember the moment I knew it was going to click with me. It was that scene in episode one with Sherlock standing in the morgue. He was upside down, sniffing at a corpse, and after a short exchange with Molly, proceeded to whip it with a riding crop to the accompaniment of cheery music in the background. Torn between horror and hilarity, I thought to myself, "Ok, this definitely isn't something I've seen before." And the addiction quickly spiral out of control from there... Anyway... this is the first British show I've ever watched and I am beyond impressed. No wonder people are so crazy about it. I feel embarrassed to have been so assuming before I'd even seen it, but I'm glad I gave it a shot, or I would have missed out on something quite wonderful. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- So, here I am. Hello everyone. Are most of you guys from Britain? Anyone here from the states like me? ^_^

Yeah, I agree. Every time I see some politician on TV quoting scriptures to garner favor with the public, or using the god-has-forgiven-me excuse to mitigate their offenses, I just want to reach in there and punch them in the gullet. It's shameful the way politicians and churchmen alike use people's faith to manipulate and control them. What century is it already? Have people learn nothing over the past hundreds of years about the harm of mixing religion and politics?

Huh... K and B... and also a D... plus "bullying" and "sexual harassment".... hmm.... Kukukuku. *singsong voice* I know which show you're talking about! I like it, too! I don't mind K being a couple with B, myself, but I do think it would be a lot more interesting if K and D were together. For some reason, I was more affected when D kissed K, than when B and K kissed. B is cute and all, but he's just not very interesting compare to a closest jock on the verge of a nervous break down, y' know? And yeah, I totally understand what you mean about crazy K/B shippers. They will jump down your throat, and cuss you out, and accuse you of all sorts of horrible things if you even entertain the idea of K and D getting together. They're all batshit crazy. And they travel in packs, so you'll definitely be rendered black and blue if they corner you alone in a comment section somewhere. Best to just back away to a safe distance and leave them to their musing.

On another note... what do you guys make of Sherlock's behavior towards Molly? Now, I am in no way a Sherlock-Molly shipper (I don't much like her doormat personality). I'm just genuinely baffled by the way he treats her sometimes. Most notable is the Christmas scene in a Scandal in Belgravia. Now, Sherlock has never been very gallant when it comes to women. To say that he was unfriendly towards John's girlfriend in this scene would be an understatement. But that is nothing compare to how he treated Molly. When Molly stepped into the room that night, Sherlock became distinctly cold and almost hostile... immediately sitting down at the computer and pointedly ignoring her, muttering snide remarks under his breath, and rolling his eyes. I was very surprised by his behavior. He was never this unfriendly towards other women, even with Sally Donovan. Yet here, he was noticeably meaner than usual with Molly. What's with that? I remember Molly saying in a later episode that Sherlock allows himself to look sad only when he thinks that no one is looking. Yet obviously he has allowed Molly to see this side of him or else she would never have noticed. Does this mean that she is no one of importance to him, as she suggests... or perhaps in some strange, inexplicable way, he actually trusts her more than anyone. After all (if Molly's observation is true) he did let her see him without any armour... and in the end, he even asked her to help him fake his death. So...what might we deduced about his feelings towards her? Is he fond of her? Or does he truly dislike her, and is only nice to her when she is of use to him? We have seen him, on multiple occasion, use her attraction toward him to manipulate her and get her to help him...

Lol, that's hilarious. Best. Theory. Ever.

Everything was over-the-top and cliche. The little Asian lady who was supposed to be some big scary mob boss was just.... embarrassing. Her "acting" was cringe-worthy at best, and her voice was beyond annoying. Whoever styled her should be fired. With her squinty eyes and bob cut, she looked like some middle-aged Asian lady who should be selling dimsum in a corner shop, and they had her decked out in black nail polish, studded-leather, and dark sunglasses? *facepalm* And Sherlock Holmes! What the heck happened to him? How come he was dumber than a brick in this episode? One look at that graffiti on the wall and I immediately said to my friend, "Hey, those looks like Chinese numerals." And what do you know... a quick check on google confirms my guess. You're telling me Sherlock Holmes doesn't recognize basic Chinese numerals? Or that this updated, tech-savy genius doesn't even know how to use a search engine? You don't even have to know Chinese to guess what those symbols are. Anyone who's sat through 9th grade history class would be able to at least "deduce" that a single horizontal dash means "one" in Chinese. And then funniest of all... with one casual glance, Watson's date, Sarah, was able to notice a clue in a photograph that Sherlock Holmes himself missed even though he's been staring at it for days... days! Just what the heck in going on here? This is a man who's supposed to be able to deduce your living habits from the tiny dog hairs on your pant legs. Why was he behaving so out-of-character? Why did he sit there patiently and listen to the Chinese girl tell her boring, cliche sob story about being poor and forced to join a gang? It was lame and boring and had nothing to do with the case. Even I wanted to yell at her to hurry it up and get to the relevant facts. Since when did Sherlock Holmes acquire the patience of a saint? To top it off, he then left the defenseless girl on her own to chase after some assassin, even knowing the assassin was trying to kill her. Did it not occur to him that perhaps simply staying put next to the intended target would be the best way to catch the assassin? As soon as Sherlock ran out the door, my friend turned to me and said, "she's gonna die, I know it." Moments later, he was proven correct. And where the heck were the security guards during all this? It's a museum, for god's sake. Why are trespassers able to wander about at will and firing off their guns into galleries filled with priceless artifacts? Towards the end of the episode, Sherlock "deduced" that the code cipher would be a book that both victims owned, and then failed to find such a book anywhere among the piles of books owned by both victims. In the end, he had to steal the book off some random tourist wandering the streets. What was the point of all that then? And have I mentioned the redundant use of onscreen texts in this scene? Sherlock flips through the book, the camera zooms in on the page to reveal the word, Sherlock reads the word out loud, the word then pops up on screen as a text. Uh... why? Perhaps they are simply being mindful of the deaf, dumb and visually-challenged members of the audience. Gotta cover all bases, you know? Ok!...haha... wow, sorry. Didn't know there was so much that bugged me about this episode until I started typing. Didn't mean to go on and on like this. My apologies for the rambling. Bottom line, this episode was just one big silly mess, and no one is sorrier than I am about that.

Oooh. I didn't know that! Interesting. Is there anyway to correct the brainwashing? Or would the condition be permanent?
-
The only problem I have with Moriarty being dead...permanently... is that he died thinking he beat Sherlock. It was suppose to be this epic mind game between the two of them. But now Moriarty is dead, and I'll never get to see the look on his face when he realizes he's been duped by the great Sherlock Holmes. What a let down.

Hmm... I think when John and Sherlock reunites, a good punch in the face would be in order. You just can't do that to your best friend and expect to be greeted with hugs and kisses. John was so devastated by what happened. It would be surprising if he doesn't feel betrayed by Sherlock's little deception. So, if I were John... a sound beating first... then I'll help the bastard clear his name. Also Sherlock needs to solve the mystery of how Moriarty got the little girl to screamed upon seeing his face. That's where all his problems started, right? That's when people started suspecting him and doubting his credibility. So he needs to answer that little question first. I'm very curious to know the reason myself. Though, I don't suppose the police'll let him near the girl to question her (seeing as how he'd still be a wanted criminal and all), so he's going to need help with that. So yeah... that's what I'd like to see. I've been curious about what happened with the little girl since the 2nd season ended. Hope they'll address that mystery first in the 3rd series.
