I have occasionally needed to repair those all-white posts, but had no idea how they had happened in the first place. If that ever happens to you again, Karie, just edit the post, select the entire text, click on Text Color (just to the left of the smiley face) and click on Automatic at the top of the dropdown. That'll turn the text black. It is caused by the reply box being in WYSIWYG mode. I took that shortcut from the right click menu in Google Chrome. If your browser doesn't allow that, copy into Notepad first then reselect and copy again as Notepad will remove all the formatting. Forum software is trying to be too clever.
  3. Oh I don't know, I think there are many times that John would have liked to have shot Sherlock, but no way he could do it himself. So maybe he see is at some sort of just desserts. Admittedly, if she had actually killed him I think he would have killed her.
  4. I refer the honourable gentleman to my post on the previous page: Haven't got a clue myself, but some Googling found this: http://www.sherlockian.net/world/mycroft.html
  5. Possibly because he was "always at work" - remember Watson hadn't seen him for a month.
  6. Not happy about Moriarty coming back, not because of the way TRF ended. I'm probably alone, but I just don't like the casting. I never like Moriarty, I know we are not supposed to like the villain, but thats not what I mean. I didn't like the way he was played. Magnusson - much better casting. Would have preferred someone else to shoot him though. The mind palace vault was genius - I should have saw it coming. I too thought information was being sent to his glasses - but that is because of the way it was shown to use (he takes glasses off, cleans them, puts glasses back on, information changes) Mary - assassin, it fits. Not actually too fussed that she shot Sherlock, because she did it surgically. And as for the kiss and make up - actually that makes perfect sense. Because, despite the deceits - it is clear that the characters do really love each other, and the sign of true love is being able to accept things that others would not (I have personal experience of this, so I know what I am talking about - an no, I'm not sharing)

  8. William Sherlock Scott Holmes

  10. No, I am afraid I don't.
  11. Poppets are related to witchcraft and are similar to voodoo dolls, possibly used to control someone.
  12. Amanda was just on Steve Wright's show on Radio 2 which will be up on the iPlayer later (for those coming back to this post it is Wednesday 8-1-14 and it starts about 16:20). http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b006wr4r There isn't much devoted to Sherlock, but I don't know if anything can be inferred from this:
  13. Yes! And no. No, I don't think they are meant to be gay or want to have sex with each other. John needs Mary for that and Sherlock has naked Irene running around in his mind palace - not exactly the fantasy I'd expect from a gay man... But I do feel that these lovely women are being used to keep sex out of what is otherwise a big fat love story. And that's what I think Doyle did, deliberate or not. The sad thing is, I like it, and feminism be damned. Actually a lot of programme's focus on physical relationships. It's nice to have one where the focus is on the platonic relationship despite all the actual and would be physical relationships happening or being hinted at in the background. [Ninja edit] I also like the fact they are focusing on a make relationship that is more like female relationships in every other program - making it OK for men to have feelings - even men as inhuman as Sherlock.
  14. Are you suggesting we saw John and Sherlocks "wedding?"
  15. What does "faffing about" mean? Yes, Mrs Husdon showed Tessa in. And she was probably so impressed with the idea of a "famous detective", who I am sure she had also heard described as very eccentric, that it took her a while to realize he was drunk, I guess. Lestrade wasn't taken along because Sherlock organized the night out - that's my best guess. Mycroft's baby? Mycroft's? What would he have to do to a woman so she would get into bed with him? This is not a serious theory of yours, is it? Working backwards Mycroft's baby was purely in references to Sherlocks comments on the phone about him being out of breath - I seriously doubt it as well (but we cannot throw away everything, after all the man himself has said that once you rule out the impossible, what remains, however improbable, must be the truth ) Re Lestrade, possibly - although stag do's are generally more than just the stag and the best man, and Lestrade is the one "Friend" that Sherlock could have trusted. Mrs. Hudson - thanks for refreshing my memory - and I agree about the eccentricity. Faffing about - when he was flustered, trying to work things out and just flitting round the room babbling. http://dictionary.cambridge.org/dictionary/british/faff-about-around'>Faff-about-around - Cambridge Dictionary Quote from further down that page - "You are looking at an entry to do with Behaving in a silly way, "
  16. It was a good episode - There was quite a lot I liked, but there were some things I didn't like (everyone's a critic). I was cringing so bad while he was faffing about in the best man speech part deux, that I had to go and put the kettle on! Some people have asked about the nurse. Firstly, I don't why Mrs Hudson let her in on their stag night, unless she didn't. Maybe John or Sherlock did themselves. I'm a bit hazy on that now, can't remember if Mrs. H, showed her in or not, I also agree that it's a bit strange she didn't recognise they were drunk - but then she was convinced she had had dinner with a ghost! And why wasn't Lestrade on the Stag Night? On to Mary - I saw the look when s read out the note from Cam, and completely missed the fact that it could have been from C.A.M. instead. And yes, she does look exceptionally worried when S makes his reveal on the dance floor. I also think the lyrics are poignant, but what if the baby is not John's? Could it be C.A.M.'s? Or even Mycroft (though he would have us believe otherwise)? Lastly (for now) is the trailer for the last vow: That's all for now. Itching for Sunday and slightly peeved we only get 3 episodes a time. Hey ho, I have *cough* acquired *cough* episode 12 of series 2 of Elementary, that should tide me over.
  17. Now you come to mention it, I think I remember Benedict saying it would air in November on a talk show either in late 2012 or early 2013 - but then it got pushed back for some reason. It would have made a bit more sense if it had aired in November though.
  18. Great little insight - but can anyone tell me how they deduced who the new enemy is? [ninja edit] Which also begs the questions, [/ninja edit]
  19. Is it just me? Or does Martin with a moustache look like a cross betweenDavid Burke/Edward Hardwicke Watson's of the Jeremy Brett era and Jude Law? Martin Freeman David Burke Edward Hardwicke Jude Law
  20. It's been no secret that Amanda Abbington is the real life partner to Martin Freeman (and mother of his children). How does that mean that they won't write her to have a secret agenda or past? Or did you just mean about how it deviates from canon? (Although, that also doesn't guarantee that they won't do it!) I don't think she's evil. At least I hope not, as I really like her. But I definitely think she's hiding something from her past, and whatever that something is, I think it's going to come back to haunt her and cause a lot of heartache for both her and John. It may not have been a secret, but it certainly passed me by (and I thought it worth a mention in lieu of Sherlocks parents), anyway. I agree that just because Mary is played by John's real life partner does not mean they won't write her as a baddie, but it doesn't mean they will either. There is definately more to her than we have been given so far - evil? I hope not too. This is plausible, would certainly explain her knowledge of "skip codes". Also there has been many a time when an on screen "undercover" relationship has blossomed into a real one. I too have very little knowledge of Canon. Whilst loving most things Sherlock, most of my history covers a few films and the ITV series (Jeremy Brett was very good). That said you make a valid point about "JohnLock". Having read the article I posted above it wouldn't surprise me if, either in the last episode of this series or in the next series, they kill Mary off.
  21. OK, I think we are going to be able to trust Mary after all (unless there is a sinister plot twist/shift took from cannon) Looking at John's blog reveled her last name (as she commented at the bottom). A quick Google led me to Wikipedia, talk about keeping it in the family. Just as Sherlock's parents were played by Benedict's real life parents, so (according to Wikipedia) Mary is played by Martin's real life partner! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Minor_Sherlock_Holmes_characters#Mary_Morstan_.28later_Watson.29
  22. TBF, I couldn't start to compare the 2 as they follow differing ideals. What I will say is I like both. They are both (to me at least) well written and directed. Not sure I like Sherlock's parents in Sherlock, and am still undecided on Mycroft in Elementary (A chef I ask you). Also wasn't overly keen on Lestrade in Elementary, but find Gregson really good. Joan vs John - Clever twist, was worried it wouldn't work but it seems to. Also a clever twist from Military Doctor to semi-disgraced surgeon. And a clever intro as a "sober companion". What I find incredibly hard to believe is the quality of Elementary in general. As far as American police procedurals go, for me it is one of the best with its writing, acting and direction. Yet with Sherlock we get 3 episodes a year (with a 2 year gap between series 2 and 3) and in that time CBS can pum out THIRTY-FIVE episodes of Elementary, all on a par with each other!
  23. OK. Like the episode a lot, very fast paced as usual. Was willing Watson to punch Holmes! I have been out of the loop for a while, Anderson - is that the copper/detective who had so much disdain for Sherlock in the first 2 series? Now apart from that, not sure what to make of his parents - although quite pleased to see (hear) Mycroft begging Sherlock to take them back. Am I the only one who doesn't trust Mary? How did she recognise that text message as a Skip Code? Who is she? Where did she come from? Molly's fiancé - the look Sherlock gave him at the end, was that one of "I have seen you before" or one of "she doesn't really love you"?
