BBC Books will release Sherlock: The Casebook in October. The 160-page hardcover includes information on all six episodes to date. According to an announcement in Sherlockology, "the cover is a spectacular wrap-around holographic design, with Sherlock Holmes on one side and John Watson on the reverse. [subject to change]"

From Sherlockology

Thanks to BBC Books, we can give Sherlockology followers an exclusive preview of the fantastic full dust jacket cover art for the official upcoming tie-in hardcover book to the television series. As you can see, the design is striking and unusual, featuring Sherlock Holmes on the front cover and John Watson on the back cover, along with a brief synopsis of the book written by each of them.

Click the images to see larger versions of each half of the dust jacket, and to read each of the pairs thoughts on the jacket flaps.

The 160 page hardcover is due to be published in the UK on October 25th 2012. You can preorder the book from Amazon UK for £10.49. For international delivery information and rates from Amazon UK, click here.

Since this book covers both Series 1 and Series 2, any discussion of it may contain spoilers for those who have not yet seen all six of those episodes. Therefore, I am closing this news thread, and creating a discussion thread in the Spoilers forum, where you can post your comments, questions, etc. regarding this book (including any questions raised by this thread).

See you over in "Sherlock: The Casebook from BBC Books (Spoilers!!!)"!

One new bit of non-spoiler-type news from Sherlockology:

The bestselling first official tie-in book to the hit BBC television series by Guy Adams is finally arriving in stores in the United States in mid-July, but with a twist.

Instead of retaining the original title of Sherlock: The Casebook, the book will instead be retitled The Sherlock Files: The Official Companion to the Hit Television Series, and feature different imagery on the front cover.

Also, the book will be released as a paperback, instead of the original’s hardcover release. All interior content, and the page count of 160 pages, seems to be unaltered from the original UK release.

The Sherlock Files: The Official Companion to the Hit Television Series is now available for pre-order on Amazon.com ahead of its release on July 16 2013.

Sherlock: The Casebook, the original release of the title, remains available for order from Amazon.co.uk now, with worldwide shipping.

Read our review of Sherlock: The Casebook from last October.

Play our interactive games in The Casebook event from the original UK launch of the book.

So apparently, the moral of the story is, if you want the original hardback, order it from the UK Amazon. Or if you're a completist, order both!
