It was a really valiant effort on Mr Gatiss's part to undo a lot of the mawkishness and general romanticism of S3, with its whole Mary arc culminating in turning the world's cleverest detective into a common killer. The whole problem of their estrangement will be resolved in the second part, so that they can defeat Culverton Smith. I have never particularly liked this version of Dr Watson, with his trust and anger management issues, but towards the end, he seemed to hold Sherlock responsible quite irrationally, but then grief has many faces. Pity that now Sherlock seems to keep his snarkiness only for his brother! And what a way to resolve the problem of Mary's continued existence!

Oui! I would agree that Moftiss are SOBs, but the time is drawing near to actually watching the Fest!

Apparently, The Empty Hearse on Facebook still has that weird Czech promo video from the series running.

Good on you, Arcadia! I have re-watched the teaser trailer so many times and studied their facial expressions, especially those of the gentlemen in the background, so many times now that I have come to the conclusion if it happens in reality, the creator borrowed it straight from Alexandre Dumas: the final scene of the Three Musketeers, with Sherlock/D'Artagnan taking the place of the executioner for Milady DeWinter/Mary, while Athos/Dr Watson (the former husband), and Aramis/Mycroft look on. The fourth musketeer should have been Lestrade, but as a police officer he cannot condone private justice, so was left out of it.

@ J.P The point is , hopefully, not to divide the fandom with the antics started in SoT but to keep it united! If we are split in TJLC and non-TJLC, then the crafty Moftiss duo will have driven a wedge in their fandom which will be irreparable and of their own making.

After I change my screen in order not to snow, I shall wait patiently until the turn of the year for the first episode. As Sherlock Holmes himself would remind us, speculating with insufficient data, and what data are available are undoubtedly corrupted by the binary viruses known as Moftiss, is futile.

We are not brainwashed! We are fans, for Heaven's sake!

Congratulations to our American cousins! They have elected the first president with the most famous first name in the history of cartoons! From now on, the Donald Duck puns are going to escalate along with the gentleman's blunders on the world politics scene! With our own elections a few months away, I fervently hope the French electorate doesn't fall for isolationism and *racism*!

Bless his great, forgiving, ungrudging big heart! BC really lives up to what he professes, most of the time, with candor and humour!

Sticking the hate-filled cousin by the bogs in SoT means putting her at a table near the WC, and as for the elusive Harriet, who knows!

Strange that two different countries have the same superstition! When I asked my grand mere about the broken violin string, she immediately crossed herself (sort of 'far away from us' ) and said it represents a death in the family. The question remains: in the Watson family (Abominable Mary/baby) or the Holmes family, since we know both brothers and their parents will be in the show? Where is a shock blanket when one needs one? As for the 'other one', Mycroft specifically named them using the past tense in HLV.

I do hope he gets a break between the next Avengers do-dah ant the Current Wars!

Oh, please, not Oscar Wilde mixed up with Sherlock! He has already committed manslaughter, we don't need any more drama of that nature, especially since same-sex marriages are allowed throughout the EU (except Brexit so-and-sos) and even the US now!

Moffat's "we've missed it" statement...
jadpdr replied to sfmpco's topic in BBC Sherlock General Discussion.
Oh, in original parlance, Sherlock Holmes never finished either of the two universities, University of London in its infancy at the time, and although Sir Arthur was Scottish himself, he didn't choose either Edinburgh or York. The original was very much a dropout, skilled at many crafts but Master of none. Speaking of which, the two institutions give you a Bachelor's in anything, and in two years it becomes a Master's: quite unjust, when I think how hard it is to get your DEUG II in France, not to mention Ecole Normale and Ecole Polytechnique! -
Hey, you lot could do with a bit of comedy from bygone years! Try the Don Camillo series with Fernandel and the Gendarme series with Louis de Funes, and if you want a bit of mystery, try the Fantomas series, one with Jean Marais and one with Helmut Berger.

It does look like they are veering towards a Bond adaptation, all firearms, brawn and muscle. Pity, really. -

That is why you should read the Captain's Logs for each series: the two definitions are explained in ST:TNG. In a way, Carol is right that the extremists were always Trekkies, but not necessarily into costumes and such! -
Good! When you spend several million on a house you want a modern boiler!

Just heard on Nerdist the guy who wrote a whole grammar lesson for Sherlock at the beginning of TGG say "broadcasted" as his one word reference to the upcoming series. I am still reeling from the shock!

SPOILERS! Series 4 Setlock
jadpdr replied to Carol the Dabbler's topic in Special and Series 4 Locations [Possible Spoilers]
As long as they stay away from The Three Garridebs in whatever interpretation! Sherlock looking upset like that, it can only be two people at the other end: John or Mycroft. -
You know your "Sherlock" obsession is bad when...

Well, sleeping is just as boring as breathing! Both are highly overrated! :D -
The way they chose who was going to travel to San Diego for two days because of their ongoing filming commitments was hilarious! Anyway, Mary playing at being Poirot and Molly Sherlock and Lestrade Mrs Hudson was a definite highlight, as was the Abominable Scot's money-saving solution of sending his wife on Easyjet! Pre-ordered the DVD and now shall sit on my hands for the rest of the time lapse, since both my job and my personal life don't allow such extravagant stress-relief measures as taking potshots at the nearest wall!

So, the mercenary heart won over sentiment! They were about to wrap anyway! Instead of messages and fireworks, they could have scheduled the whole thing to wrap a day earlier or a day later and let their cash-maker celebrate with his family. Perfidious Albion, indeed!
-
That would be an unparalleled achievement: killing Sherlock Holmes! Not his own creator, not all the King's horses, nor all the King's men, and certainly not any incarnation of Moriarty (whose character is getting a bit worn around the edges) could manage that!

Well, what with the castle and the filming on a beach, there are two possible choices: The Devil's Foot and The Lion's Mane, but the second has the major drawback of no John Watson in it.
