I found this on BBC America's site earlier today.  Round 1 voting happens until Friday at 11am EST.  I found some of the match ups hard to decide who to pick because of the talent pool.  We are lucky so far in that none of our beloved Sherlock cast are against each other yet.  To vote go to http://www.bbcamerica.com/anglophenia/fan-favorites/men-2014/round-1/

You're welcome.  Realized a few hours after I voted that it needed to be posted here.

Looks like they've been carefully seeded -- and likewise the Hobbit actors (other than Cumberbatch and Freeman).

This will be interesting to follow.  Hopefully Hiddleston/Evans will not take out Cumberbatch.  That will be my biggest concern especially if Hiddleston wins his first round.

If I have to vote between Hiddleston and Cumberbatch my head will explode. Can't everyone be a winner?? Lol

I know. That would be brilliant.

I agree.  Deciding between Daniel Radcliffe and Patrick Stewart was hard enough!

I had a hard time with that one as well.  I went with Patrick Stewart because I liked several of the roles I've seen him in.  I've only seen Daniel Radcliffe in the Harry Potter films (which I enjoyed) and a few minutes of 1 other film before I switched because I didn't like it.

I finally decided that although I might like Harry Potter better than Jean Luc Picard, I think I like Patrick Stewart's acting style better than Daniel Radcliffe's.  So I went for Stewart too.

Ditto this.

With about a day and a half to go on first-round voting, all of the Sherlock actors are ahead (yay!), with the following leads:

Martin Freeman 80.70%

Benedict Cumberbatch 80.16%

Mark Gatiss 57.64%

Andrew Scott 51.62%

And Hiddleston has a lead right now too.  I feel like I can see the collision of Hiddleston and Cumberbatch ahead, and I can't do anything about it.

No kidding. I'm really not looking forward to that match up.

So Andrew didn't make it into round 2 by 0.25%, that's sad. :(

I even went back and voted for him a bunch last night.  I mean Matt Smith over Andrew?  Nah.

To risk pointing out the obvious, this is both a popularity contest and a computer-literacy contest, meaning that larger fandoms with younger demographics are the most likely to see their candidates win.  There are of course tons of both Sherlock fans and Whovians, so what we might call Moriarty's very narrow loss to a recent Doctor is very nearly a tie, and is certainly nothing for Andrew Scott to be ashamed of.

I'm also disappointed to see Patrick Stewart lose to Daniel Radcliffe -- but not terribly surprised.  Captain Jean-Luc Picard was probably most popular among people in their teens and twenties circa 1990, whereas Harry Potter was most popular among somewhat younger people some fifteen years more recently.  So the younger demographic wins.

Be that as it may, congratulations to Martin Freeman and Benedict Cumberbatch for garnering the second and third highest vote percentages, and to Mark Gatiss for his decisive win.

I was disappointed about that too.  I mean I love Harry Potter, and like Daniel Radcliffe well enough, but Patrick Stewart!  Just look at Stewart's ice bucket challenge!
