Whatever Happened to Sherlock's First Scarf?

If you notice, Sherlock changes scarves. Wearing a shorter, more blue-violet scarf in the First Series and wearing a longer, striped one in the Second. Not that I particularly mind that he changed it, just curious as to where the First one went and why it went. I was also concerned that because the scarf had changed, Sherlock himself had changed. But maybe that was the point...

Sherlock-universe reply: The old one was beginning to get just a bit threadbare in spots, and you know how careful Sherlock is about his appearance. When he went to choose a new one, either he liked the second style better, or else the first style was no longer available.

 

Real-world reply: Maybe somebody walked off with the first one between Series. Or perhaps the first one was a bit too short to be readily arranged quickly on-camera, so they replaced it with a longer one.

 

Either way, nice job of spotting!

My reality answer: Moriarty stole it. Or John. I do believe John was trying to copy my "style". And also I think I may have caught him wearing it once or twice. But anyway, it went missing. I was rather disappointed. I was particularly attached to it. I thought that no scarf could every replace it. Unti I recieved a package in the mail. A note attached said: "Sorry you lost your scarf. I know nothing could every permanently replace it, but I saw this one and thought it suited you. IA." Once I found out who I.A. was, I started wearing it more. But I am still upset that it's not the other.

I most certainly did not! How dare you even suggest that I did something like that?! NEVER. I never did anything like that. In fact, I lost it before we met her, if you'd use your brain and remember. Oh, wait. It's an average one. No wonder you don't remember properly. So we did meet The Woman after all. I was wondering where we were.
