  1. So the part where Assange tells of all of his different aliases - the way that scene is shown made me think MIND PALACE!!! Also, is it just me or is there something Sherlockian about this Assange? .. "You hacked NASA?!" [in his Sherlock voice] "It wasn't actually that difficult." LOVE THIS!! Edit: Upon finishing the movie, I am not sure I like the direction they took in the last 1/2 hour. It did seem like they were out to make Assange look like a self-centered jerk, but that is no surprise since it is based on the book by his buddy Daniel who seemed to be rather jealous of his spotlight, or at least acting to some other agenda. Ugh. Did not like the ending. To me, it was Daniel who seemed like the jerk, and the constant "moral" phrases of his girlfriend were even more annoying.
  2. Hah! Totally! One of the best moments in the movie. That totally works on guys, too! Who else thought BC was absolutely perfect for the role? His smile actually has an uncanny resemblance to the real Hawking. And I loved how I could hear some Sherlock seep through the parts where he speaks really excitedly about his theory. A gem of a movie - I can see why they chose him to play Turing!
  3. After reading all of your guys' posts I am unsure of what to really think of Sherlock killing CAM. As I have already said, it "seemed" like he had no alternative, but why did the directors set it up that way? In canon, it was another character (a lady actually) who shoots him, not Sherlock. And actually, Sherlock shoots Moriarty in canon, in his only act of deliberate killing. So the canon Sherlock does commit one crime against the final villain - and the producers did this for CAM. The question is, how will this moral dilemma affect the future episodes? And why did they chose Sherlocks (hopefully) one act of violence be for CAM and not Moriarty?
  4. Thanks! And jesskayding, I'd rather read all of the books while I wait. I just got upon a part in A Case of Identity where Sherlock watches a client pace back and forth and remarks how "the oscillation on the pavement speaks of a love affair". Just like in the show, although that was during the best man speech. I love how the directors really took specific scenes from Doyle and integrated them so cleverly.
  5. I see it as CAM being out-played by Sherlock! CAM's biggest weakness was that he did not believe that Sherlock would pull the trigger on him. He even said "They pose no threat" as they were being approached, believing that he had won and his mind-palace would survive to do the terrible deeds. If he had been smart about it, he would have made sure John handed over all his weapons. Haha, yes! I have friends who have that theory. However, what would Mycroft do to put some action behind that face? Or was just flashing that and having Sherlock solve other cases enough to get him back? But yes Mycroft is such a sweet big bro.
  6. I know, I am aware of that. I usually don't do that, but sometime it happens with things where I have a vision of how it should be. I'll give it a chance though, sometime.
  7. I would like the answer to both as well! For the second one about BC looking anywhere from 25-40, did you perhaps have the drug scene from His Last Vow in mind? Because in the scene where Molly slapped him, he does look unusually older. Or are there any other scenes like that I missed? Most of the time, especially at Baker street, he does seem to be in his 20's to me, and I kind of prefer that.
  8. When you start analyzing people the way Sherlock would have analyzed them, but most of them have "????" written on them. When you think about how your own mind palace looks like When your idea of the best kind of friendship is that between Sherlock and Watson When you automatically fix your jacket collar or put it up the way Sherlock does without realizing it When your friends know that you are about to make a Sherlock reference right as you open your mouth
  9. Yeah, I'd be fine with Sherlock being blonde if he actually acted like Sherlock. This one acts like an idiot... in the trailer, the part where he is looking for clues actually reminds me of the drunk BBC Sherlock looking for clues in The Sign of Three. aka this
  10. Thanks! Yes, I am new. I forgot to mention that I started watching Sherlock in 2010, saw the first three episodes, then saw the two episodes of Season 2, and for some reason I gave up. I am not sure why. But I just recently binge watched all nine of them and am completely and utterly in love. Maybe because I appreciate the books more. Also, my username is not to be confused with the new American show Elementary. Watching the trailer actually almost made me cry inside. Their Sherlock looks like an idiot in the trailer, even Miss Watson is more badass than him.
  11. I've been meaning to ask about that reference (but thought I was probably overlooking something obvious). It doesn't sound at all familiar. Could you provide a context? Yes, it was in the Sign of Three during the stag night. Sherlock was very drunk and a client showed up in a bad time. And John is like, 'Sherlock, clues!" So Sherlock looks around the room and everything is very fuzzy and things have really bad descriptions - round chair is labeled as "Egg. Chair. ???" in his mind, the client is named "client. victim. nurse. ????". I have to say this was the funniest scene for me probably in the entire show. I was just shaking uncontrollably. I wonder if the actors were actually drunk during that scene, they were so convincing. John: "Am I a pretty lady?"
  12. Ah yes! That part was in The Sign of Four. I am re-reading it right now (last time I read it was years ago) so now I can totally imagine BC and Freeman in the role. So cool.
  13. I don't know why so many people disliked that last part of the last episode. Personally I loved the whole "hope you enjoyedyour 4 minutes of exile" + the plane turn. I actually got butterflies in my stomach!
  14. Yes. Also BC's voice + that music is like a heavenly aria to my ears.
  15. I actually usually tie my scarf like Sherlock does, even before I realized it (and I am female). I am also pretty tall and have a long coat like that with a collar, but I realize that Sherlock usually wears his coat unbuttoned? I don't know if I will be able to pull that off.
  16. Why would anyone want to slap Sherlock? (If you're not John, that is). I would much prefer to give him a hug. I feel like he needs one most times. And I don't even like hugs myself.
  17. Yes I think I saw that, thanks for the explanation! It was just sooo brief though. I am not sure why I have a problem with The Woman. Maybe she seems a bit too old for the "baby" Sherlock? ACTUALLY I have another question. Mycroft said "My brother has the brain of a scientist or a philosopher but he chose to be a detective. What might that tell you about his heart?" What do you think Mycroft was getting at?
  18. Totally agree! I also think the music / soundtrack is absolutely brilliant. It is just so ingeniously paced with the emotion and the action.
  19. I have never seen Grease. And that's not really in Molly's character. Also, in which episode did Sherlock save The Woman? I know I heard that it happened but I don't think I've seen a scene with it... have I missed something?
  20. I definitely see what you are saying. I guess I just don't want Sherlock to end up with anyone (mine ) and Molly's crush has to be resolved in some way. Or maybe it doesn't, who knows - it can be done without her finding a romantic partner but simply reaching a new level of self-improvement. Although I have friends who argue that Molly is too good for Sherlock, since he is a bastard. I am like, yes the last part is true. But he is a sexy bastard. Also I was not saying Molly and John are equivalent: I was saying that he has an appreciation for Molly like he does for John, IMHO. Maybe not the same strength but the same type of appreciation. A human one, not a "I want to play games with him/her" type.
  21. It's Elementary, my dear Watson. Hi! As you can perhaps deduce, I really like the ACD books, but having seen the show, I am just awed at how the world can produce something so majestic and at the same time utterly hilarious. My favorite scenes include "But it's Christmas, Sherlock!", the "Egg. Chair. ????", "Punch me. Just punch me.", "I AM BORED"... and many others, and often because I am amazed at how well the humor and characterization reflects that in the actual books. And also because of how Cumberbatch brilliantly makes Sherlock come alive in the modern day: Yup, gist of this is true to the book! And this... And breathtaking moments like this... Just yes... I love this series and I cannot wait until 2016. Hello again!
  22. John with Mary... In the The Sign of Four he keeps trying to flirt with her when they first meet. It's really cute.
  23. I don't think Sherlock actually has feelings for her. He was fascinated with her as a test subject since she succeeded in some mind games with him. I also don't see it right for the show to take a turn in which he has actual "feelings" for her when there is Molly (who is the female equivalent of John, for whom he does have feelings).
