  1. Oh yes, I've been wondering about that lately too. It certainly looks like a wedding band. This show is very good with detail, so it's most likely not a mistake. Wedding rings are usually worn on the left hand though aren't they?
  2. I'm holding out putting any opinions on this until I actually see it. I don't think that anybody has any more rights to remake Sherlock Holmes then anybody else. There have been over 200 different versions of our beloved character over the 130+ years of his existence. The execs for Sherlock even said that themselves. I like Lucy Liu. She is a good actress, and I'm sure she will portray this Joan Watson well. It's the writing and stories I'm more nervous about really... The only thing I don't like is that they asked permission from Moff and Co. to remake THEIR series into an American version, then they were turned down and went ahead with it anyways. Hmm. As long as it's not a deliberate copy, which would be without permission, then that wouldn't bother me as much.
  3. I love slash, so I'll admit that I do try to find it in any situation possible. I really like John/Sherlock, and I've even started reading some Mycroft/Lestrade fics even though they have never had any on-screen interaction. But that's the great thing about fanfic, anything is possible! I do see onscreen Sherlock as asexual, but asexual does not mean one can not have romantic feelings someone only that they are not interested in sex. But I like to think Sherlock has feelings for John that do go beyond simple friendship, maybe even straying into the romantic. Moffat's comments on asexuality being basically "boring" made me angry, because I am asexual myself. We can certainly see that Sherlock lives a life that's anything but boring... well most of the time but then you just go shoot up a wall. But I do like to expand to reading John/Sherlock fics of a more sexual nature as well. I just think it's unlikely we'll see it on-screen.
  4. Hello there Lirael, welcome to the forum! Glad that you decided to join us here! This fandom is full of so many amazingly talented people. There is just so much good stuff out there! I so know what you mean, this fandom takes up so much time from my life. But it's worth it! See you around!
  5. Hi everybody, nice to meet you all!!! Glad to see people from all over the world here, how exciting!
  6. Well hello there Mr. Sherlock Holmes. A pleasure to finally meet you!! See you around!
  7. I love this episode! There is so much going on, and in any other show trying to have multiple plots rolling around at the same time would be a disaster. But Sherlock manages to flow them together very nicely. It's hard to believe this is 90 minutes, because it goes by in a flash. After TBB, it was great finally having all of the characters play a role again. I certainly missed seeing Lestrade and Mycroft. And there are great moments: a bored Sherlock shooting the wall and the reference to him not knowing about the solar system. We really see the characters finally developed and almost as a team now. That scene with Moriarty at the pool. Chilling. I was shocked to see John come out wearing the coat, and then seeing Sherlock doubt for just a second that John might be Moriarty. And then that cliffhanger. I was I guess... fortunate that I came to this show rather late and didn't have to wait the full 18 months of speculation to see how they escaped!
  8. Welcome non_sequitor!! I'm from way on the other side of the world in Winnipeg, Canada. I just started with the Jeremy Brett series this weekend actually, and I've been enjoying it a lot so far! Anyways, see you around!!
  9. This is a tough question, I adore each of the characters for their own little reasons. But my favourite if I have to pick is Sherlock. I have a soft spot for socially troubled men in suits.
  10. Oh that's interesting! I'm going to have to skip ahead in my readings and check that one out!
  11. Oh The Blind Banker... Probably not going to be on anybody's favourite episode list. But it's not a bad episode by any means, it just doesn't seem to have that same spark as the other episodes do. It's infinitly better then most TV, but when you compare it to the very high quality of the other episodes, it does not rank as high. The story just seems slow in comparison to A Study in Pink before it, and then the excitement in The Great Game. It's also the only story that is not based on any of ACD's original works (I believe). But there are great moments. John fighting with the chip and pin machine, Sherlock fighting the ninja, and the interaction between Sherlock and Sebastian Wilkes is one of my favourite scenes in the series. The "we hated him" followed by Sherlock's look always breaks my heart and lets us see him as human for once. We also get to see Sherlock and John really finally working and investigating as a team. All of the characters are coming into there own and aren't new anymore. Sad that there wasn't any Mycroft or Lestrade in this episode though. And lastly we get a look at the beginning of Moriarty's web of influence over the crimes of the world.
  12. Hello there! Welcome to the forum! There does to seem to be many of the same people from the Torchwood fandom that moved over to Sherlock, which is awesome because they are great people!! See you around!

  14. Hi there welcome to the forum!
  15. I think that Benedict would make an awesome Master! And any chance to see more Benedict on our screens is good so I hope it's true!
  16. Hello there!! Welcome to the forum Glad to see more of us Sherlockians are joining up!
  17. Thanks guys for the warm welcome!!
  18. A Study in Pink did everything a pilot should do, and yet most TV pilots rarely accomplish it. I was drawn into the show within minutes. I think I knew I was a fan of it when Sherlock and John had their very first meeting. When I started watching Sherlock, I had almost no prior knowledge to Sherlock Holmes. I once had a teacher who was completely obsessed with the books and talked non-stop about them, and I had seen The Great Mouse Detective back in the day. But that's about it. But despite that, I knew there was something obviously very special about the relationship between Sherlock and John when John was completely willing to move in with Sherlock moments after meeting him. The 90 minute format really works well for this show. There is so much more quality packed into the 3 episodes then you could ever get with 6, or 13 or 24. Everything is so deliberate and planned out, not filler. You could tell that the writers new that there audience was smart, nothing is dumbed down. I was trying to remember something I didn't like about this episode, but there isn't anything. It's all good! And I love it even more now that I have read the original novels. They just become that much more brilliant when you can see how the writers thought through upgrading those words into modern times.
  19. I suppose I should just jump on in here and say hello! I'm Erika (enchantingskies on livejournal), I'm a 22 year old uni student from Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. I was searching around for a Sherlock forum a while back and was shocked to find that there wasn't one! So I'm glad to have found this place! I've been pretty withdrawn from the whole fandom world since Torchwood CoE. I lurked LJ a lot but nothing could really fill that void. And then I stumbled upon Sherlock, not quite sure how I even first discovered it but I was just drawn in to Sherlock and John and their relationship. There is just no other show out there with the quality of literally everything (writing, acting, cinematography) that this show has. I had only minimal knowledge of Arthur Conan Doyle's stories before, but I've been completely pulled into them as well. Sherlock has pulled me out of my writing slump as well, I've never posted any fanfiction ever, but it'll probably happen. I've got a zillion ideas that I need to throw down. I'm thoroughly back in full fan-girl mode, which is great for my happiness but perhaps not so great for real life. Well that's me! I'm excited to talk with you all.
