I also miss the subtlety of S01&S02 , everything is a bit more in your face and obvious now. -
What does "Abominable Bride" tell us about the characters?
BlackButterfly replied to T.o.b.y's topic in Special and Series 4
I like that the inside of Sherlocks mind is so very humorous, the original Holmes was always laughing at everyone , this one in tab does too . I think all his opinions of the people in his mp are funny exaggerated takes on them.We can't really take it seriously , just enjoy it. -

Sorry . I still dont think Mary hacking was real , the first time she did it the scene seconds before was Sherlock in the drugs den , and the second time in a hospital room . Both link up , one to find the crime and the next to find the grave and then dig it up.So , all in the mp. Sherlock says at TRF still not awake then , so Sherlock didn't wake at all until John said time to wake up , and Sherlock decided the way to do it was jump off TRF.Mr.Moff said on 5live yesterday , it was all in his head . So . :-# I think none of it was real. -
The Abominable Bride: Does It Mean Anything?

Molly doesn't actually feel that way .Sherlock thinks she does, probably yes because she slapped him over drugs , and in the mp he is on drugs, so it makes sense Molly is angry again. If he took any real drugs , and Molly was on the tarmac , she would probably slap him again too.- 217 replies

Hmmm . Can anyone say for certain what was real and what was not ? We are still thinking the whole thing was in the mind palace. Conversations are confusing with people thinking parts were real. -
lol inge Took me a while to find that . Think they are very much like a big family having a laugh when filming. Brett got very obsessive about Holmes which affected his health and thats a bit of a grounder for new actors taking on the role. So funny a clip though . Auction it on ebay hahahanha nice to see Mark taking the P of BC.

The Abominable Bride: Does It Mean Anything?

Thanks for the link over Arcadia . TAB threads are impossible to find , needs its own section on the main forum. I agree the Mary in black is a sign she is unhappy John is off spending time and adventuring with Sherlock , she is mourning Johns absence. Possibly this is a reflection of how Sherlock feels about John spending time with Mary? The high arches comment is funny and again taken directly from Wilders film tplosh. Lots of references to that in TAB. I love that John kicks Moriarty of TRF , but it is a big divergence from canon. I do think it represents Sherlock finally understanding sentiment and love are not always a fatal mistake but can in fact be a reason for living and the thing that keeps you alive . Maybe a hint John and his other friends are behind the miss me message .- 217 replies

I think the scene with Molly was Sherlock realising that Molly was a little annoyed he only interacted with her in regards to work and was angry at him for not fancying her or noticing her as a female and potential girlfriend . Like the christmas party scene in 221b. That Watson notices and deals with these situations much better than Holmes is not surprising as women are Watsons area in Holmes mind . That Molly is not over Sherlock and christmas eve thing was reminded in S03 with the lookalike boyfriend. I think they can be friends and are considering the day they spent together investigating in HLV. At the comment on Irenes photo in the pocket watch , the pocket watch is a stand in for the mobile phone of Irenes Sherlock kept , and thats why it makes the same noise. Additionally the idea is taken from the opening of the private life of SH film where they find an almost identical watch and picture in the chest. A few scenes and lines in TAB are taken from that film . What do people think about John defeating Moriarty in SH MP means ? -

I agree Inge that morality does seem to have gone a little out of the window in the shspesh however the actual murders took place 100 ish years ago . Sherlock was attempting to solve the puzzle and used the people he knew as characters for the construct. One assumes the real criminals are long dead. It is ACD canon though , that when Sherlock sympathised with a murderess, he let her go with the '... I see no crime here line.. " a bit like Mary in HLV I suppose. By the by , I think that the crime was real and happened and was historically famous. That Sherlock knew of it..the mp victorian paper clippings were real..and it was perhaps in the book of historic cases he studied in TRF with the man that fake hanged himself...and that Moriarty , consultant criminal , also knew of it and based his..plan to take Sherlock down with him..on it . Thus the I.O.U was stolen from the brides You.... Probably Sherlock missed it because he was worrying about the earth going around the sun or maybe something else John said distracted him.... -
Episode 4.0: The Abominable Bride (alias The Special)
BlackButterfly replied to Undead Medic's topic in Special and Series 4
@my take on the Moriarty is that like the bride the Moriarty that shot himself in the head is dead , but that like the bride , Moriarty set it up in such a notorious and public way so that somebody else could use his name and reputation and become the next Moriarty / napoleon of crime .Also back in TGG and TRF the were clues that Moriarty was, like the bride , dieing anyway . Moriarty now seems to be a family or group and that is why Sherlocks final Q to mp Moriarty was 'what are you' . Moriarty is now like the ghost bride and could be anyone and a cover for more crimes etc. Think thats a scenario from a Rathbone film..... :-) -

@the comment on Mary and Mycroft. My take was that Sherlock imagined a victorian Mycroft wouldn't be fooled into thinking women suitable for only domestic roles , like John , but would probably make use of them I.e to spy on Sherlock . I think the attitude /hints about MI5 Mary and Mycroft make Sherlock seem a bit bitter that either Mycroft did know and didn't tell him , or bitter that MI5/Mycroft were useless and didn't know. Cleverly remaing ambiguous and also addressing our own thoughts and suspicions here.
