  1. hey, did anyone else notice that in the beginning of TRF Sherlock manages to get a Peter Ricoletti arrested. He is a criminal who was Interpol's most wanted criminal from 1982 until 2010. Scotland Yard were unable to track him but Sherl was able to produce decisive leads to aid his capture. I don't think Ricoletti is a regular name in England, any thoughts?
  2. p.p.s. fun fact: Spaniards have problems pronouncing my name, not because of the sounds, but because marieka means gay in Spanish
  3. oh my! I've never looked it up, because I know how to pronounce my name ;) But the links really both don't sound like my name... ok well, it's not as different as 'Elisabeth' would sound, but the Dutch/Flemish folk do pronounce it very differently. One person on youtube described it nicely: It is a Dutch/Flemish name and the stress should be on the second syllable. Ma'REEkuh. It is a variant of the name Maria. The suffix "ke" makes it a diminutive. So it means: Little Maria. btw; -ke also makes things sweet and nice. So sweet, little Mary. Something like that so; Ma- (and this 'a' is an unknown 'a' in English; think of getting startled and shouting. That 'a', just not as loud) REE- indeed, the 'r' rolls or taps and the 'ee' sound is like the 'y' in Mary. Emphasis on this bit. kuh the 'e' in 'ke' is a schwa sound. So hang your mouth slightly open in an effortless manner en push sound through. That's it! I certainly recognise the need to know what a name sounds like. It makes reading on a forum a lot more agreeable for me. So I hope this helps! :D p.s. here is a Dutch song that sings it as well. Everytime after 'oooh' in the refrein they sing 'Marieke': https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9pWlrvN9iCg
  4. really? well that's something new to me! aaah, the new horizons that internet forums bring :D
  5. Hi! my name is Marieke, therefor my name here is also Marieke. Elementary really. And I chose this picture as my avatar because it depicts what I am, for some time now but it may end at any time, convinced of; that Janine is Moriarty. And that she pulled Sherl's leg... hence the look of confusion on his face. And I just love the look of the wedding in tSo3, so colorful and bright. I love it! So the picture had to be from that episode.
  6. In my head I just can't see Sherlock wearing underwear. John is clearly a man who wears those old fashioned white and tight briefs. But Sherlock... I say nothing; he wears nothing underneath.
  7. I would need Janine included in this poll ;)
  8. from the Netherlands here! Between Overveen and Bloemendaal, which would translate as: Overpeat and Flowervalley

    Janine

actually, I think Janine is Moriarty. Not a sibling, but the actual mastermind. Look at the episodes again from that perspective and 'I know what kind of man you are' , 'you shouldn't have lied to me, we could have been friends' get a bit of a different meaning ;) Especially that last conversation in the hospital becomes very interesting from this point of view as well.... just throwing it out there! Team Janine has spoken :D
  10. wow, nice welcome! :D thanks I have indeed seen the special, which to me, makes my theory even more clear. Thanks for liking my name, and thanks for the thread. I'll see you on the forum!
  11. Hi everyone! I'm completely new to this forum, but not to Sherlock! Of course. After last night I really want to find out if there are some people out there who, like me, think that Janine really is Moriarty. ( so yes, Rich Brook really was a hired actor, probably dying. Like the cab driver in 1.1.) Other then that, hi! I'm looking forward to reading other theories and ideas. Cheers, Marieke
