  1. So a co-host on Fox News offered a unique rebuttal to the Democrat's claims that Trump's Terrible Healthcare Plan would leave millions without health insurance and cause hundreds and thousands of them to die: Wow we don't need to worry about our healthcare because we're all going to die one day. Why bother trying to cure our diseases? Why do we eat food when we're just going to get hungry again? Why drink water when we're just going to get thirsty again?
  2. I think these few people may take offense to your remark because ideally the police need a very good reason to shoot someone. Guns are deadly. Just because a police officer sees someone doing something that appears to be wrong doesn't mean they should immediately grab their gun and shoot. The police can't shoot you for any offense. You need to make a pretty big offense in order for an officer to fire his gun. Shooting a gun should be a last resort and ideally an officer should have a compelling reason to do so. I'm not sure what you exactly mean by when you say you believe 'there's more to the story'. The thing is even if there is more to story, is that enough to justify shooting a man? As I said earlier, the reasons needed for an officer to shoot a man need to be compelling and compelling reasons are difficult to hide. For example, suppose a black man takes out a gun first and threatens to shoot a hostage and then ends up getting shot by the police. That would be a justified reason for an officer to use their guns to shoot a man. However it would also be difficult for the media to twist this story and make the officer look trigger happy. There was a compelling reason for the officer to use his gun (the black man threatened a hostage) and that compelling reason is difficult to hide. However I don't see this applying to the majority of black men who have been shot by the police in the U.S. over the past few years. I'm not saying all the black men shot were 100% innocent. I believe a good number of them committed offenses but I think their offenses were minor and not something worth being shot over. However it looks like many members of the U.S. Police force shoot black men over any offense (e.g. drug trafficking etc). That's why I think so many liberals are quick to condemn the police.
  3. Trump demonstrates to all men how not to behave around a female journalist: https://twitter.com/CaitrionaPerry/status/879804904696496128
  4. Well IQ stands for Intelligence Quotient so it's kind of difficult to specify how it's difference from Intelligence. In other news: Wasn't Trump supposed to save U.S. jobs?
  5. On the other hand, do any of you think it's possible that Sherlock has a high IQ but lacks some common sense?
  6. Have you seen this old Trump tweet? You know what would be scary is if he's actually telling the truth in this tweet. If this guy really has a high IQ then it would mean that IQ tests really are an extremely unreliable way of measuring intelligence.
  7. TBH I don't think it'll teach him anything. One of the biggest problem with Trump is that many of his followers are willing to believe anything he says, regardless of how nonsensical it is. Watch this video: Trump basically said, 'I appointed corrupt bankers who crashed the economy to run the economy' and his supporters just cheered. Also Trump made a fallacious claim of those having more money knowing economics better which is clearly not the state in the US. The US has already been proven to not be a meritocracy. A lot of well educated people here are in poverty including professors. But in Trump's mind it has nothing to do with an unfair economic system. It's just because they're 'not smart'.
  8. So today the FBI announced that the guy who shot at Republicans during a baseball game in Virginia was not a terrorist. Their reasoning is that he acted alone. So what? There have been heaps of lone wolf muslim extremist attacks. Why can't the Virginia shooting be considered a lone wolf anti-Republican terrorist attack? The shooter actually had a kill list of all the Republicans that he wanted to murder during the shooting. Yet he's still not labelled a terrorist. I think it's clear now that most of the people in authorities are just exploiting the word 'terrorism' to justify interfering in Middle-Eastern countries.
  9. So you know the 17 year old African American Muslim girl who was killed with a bat and had her body thrown into a pond and yet did not have her murder classified as anything other than road rage? Well today, it has been reported that one of her memorials was set on fire. The police have caught the suspect but have stated, “at this time, the incident does not appear to be motivated by bias.” Is this a joke? If someone set the memorial of a 17 year old African American Muslim girl on fire then how can bias not be a big factor? The police are a complete joke whenever bias is involved against African Americans.
  10. I think Eurus could come back but not in a large capacity. I could see her as this wise old sage figure that gives Sherlock advice when he's stumped about a case. I don't think Sherlock would ever ask Mycroft for help but I do think he would ask Eurus. Maybe Sherlock doesn't know how to solve a case so he goes to Sherrinford to ask Eurus for advice. Eurus is smart enough to solve the case on her own but she realises that Sherlock doesn't want to be told the answer. It's just that Sherlock wants some pointers on how to reach the answer on his own. So Eurus gives Sherlock some hints on how to solve the case and lets him to work out the rest on his own.
  11. Fair point but I think it should be noted that the police haven't ruled out hate as a possible motivation for the attack yet. So I guess it's more accurate of me to say it's a possible hate crime. Now they are saying it might be an incidence of road rage. Which isn't any better than a hate crime, I'm afraid. :( http://www.msn.com/en-us/news/crime/man-charged-with-murder-after-police-find-remains-believed-to-be-those-of-17-year-old-who-went-missing-in-sterling/ar-BBCQGIG?OCID=ansmsnnews11 And the parents of the 17 year old victim have rejected the police's suggestion that their daughter's death was road rage. They believe it was a hate crime. I think it's funny that the police's reason for believing the incident wasn't a hate crime is given as, 'there was no indication of racial slurs'. I'm no lawyer but personally I don't believe racial slurs have to be the minimum standard to indicate racial bias. I think a lot of racial bias is subconcious and latent and I think most people have a bad habit of underestimating their own racial biases. Personally I think a lot of the people who feel the need to say, 'I'm not racist' actually are racist. I believe they're just underestimating their own biases. Also I think one of the reasons why a lot of African Americans are being shot by some members the police nowadays is because these police officers have a racial bias against them. That doesn't mean I believe all these officers go around making racial slurs but I do think there's a subconscious bias in their minds that even they themselves tend to underestimate. Personally I think you always need to employ a specialised psychologist in order to determine if crime was motivated by hate.
  12. Fair point but I think it should be noted that the police haven't ruled out hate as a possible motivation for the attack yet. So I guess it's more accurate of me to say it's a possible hate crime. I have a lot of respect for Black Lives Matter but when I read articles like this, it feels like their movement is going nowhere. I have trouble seeing how they can effectively challenge a corrupt legal system.
  13. Today I think I've found what is probably the worst hate crime story I've seen yet in the U.S.: http://www.nbcwashington.com/news/local/Fairfax-County-Police-Searching-for-Missing-Teen-429249943.html So apparently a 17 year old Muslim girl in Virginia was walking towards a Mosque and then got into an altercation with a man in a car. Then this girl was reported missing. The police found her dead a few hours ago. It currently looks like the man in the car beat her to death with a baseball bat. This is some crazy movie-esque incident. The U.S. is starting to look like a bad movie. I hope our President remembers to condemn this attack.
  14. Here is Labour MP David Lammy's opinion on why he believes there is currently an uproar on how the Grenfell Tower tragedy is being covered: https://twitter.com/DavidLammy/status/876406010549870593
  15. In an interview, Moffat said the reason that Mary was killed off was because they always wanted Sherlock and John to be a duo. So Mary didn't need to die. It was more that they needed to get her out of Sherlock and John's life because the two of them are supposed to be a duo. They didn't need to kill Mary off to achieve this. They could have written it so Mary stops participating in Sherlock and John's cases because she has to look after baby Rosie at home. But hey if Moffat wrote that, people would call him sexist again and it looks like Moffat was trying to prove he wasn't sexist judging by how he wrote strong female characters into The Abominable Bride and Season 4. So instead they went with the killing Mary off option. They even had another woman kill Mary off. That way nobody can throw any sexist allegations.
  16. Even if there was more plot, I don't see how you can use a newborn baby in a detective show. Maybe a child that is few years of age can work in a detective show but a newborn baby just has a lot of trouble fitting in. I could see Rosie perhaps used as a plot device. Like maybe John has to rescue her from a bad guy who kidnaps here but a rescue can be done with any character. It doesn't need to be a newborn baby. I think Moffatiss just used Rosie as a red herring to stop people from figuring out that Mary was going to die. They thought that if people saw that John and Mary had a baby (which is a deviation from the book) then it may mean Mary would survive (which is also a deviation form the books).
  17. Pseudonym I apologise if I offended you. I'm not insinuating that the government is racist and there is a cover-up. However I believe that's what the families and friends of the victims are suggesting in the videos that I linked. I'm simply paraphrased what they said in my original post. Once again, I apologise if it came across as offensive.
  18. I think something I should have made clearer is that many of the self-appointed pundits on social media are the families and friends of the victims. The families and friends of the victims are the ones that are complaining that the police are not revealing all the information that they have. That's exactly what that lady in that video that I linked on that previous post claimed that the police saying 17 people were dead was a joke and the actual number should be more like 100. This is another video of another family member of the victim being angry at the claim of there being 12 dead: https://m.facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=788476561311730&id=337108963115161&hc_location=ufi
  19. @Pseudonym Personally I have trouble seeing how the authorities aren't able to give out a fairly accurate number of people killed in the fire by now. Yes their bodies are burnt but their bodies are still there so can't they just count all the burnt bodies? Unless all there's a lot of rubble covering most of the bodies, I have trouble seeing how they could not have a good estimate of the body count by now. You don't need to identify each body in order to do a body count. Body counts conducted in war zones of casualties of bombs don't identify each body. Yet up till now we only have 30 confirmed deaths. I can see why friends and family of the residents of Grenfell Tower are angry. Also regarding my the victims are immigrants comment, I believe I wasn't specific enough. I meant they came from an immigrant background and were non-White. I think something noteworthy about the victims/missing people is that a lot of them are Muslims. Here's a graphic I found on twitter: The fact that so many victims/missing people are Muslims is one of the main reasons why rumours are starting to spread of authorities covering up information. The rights of people of colour have become an issue ever since Brexit and it looks like the Greenfell Tower tragedy is going to be politicised in that way.
  20. So family and friends of the people in Grenfell Tower are very angry that the casualty number is being downplayed: https://www.facebook.com/presstvuk/videos/vb.531336173559777/1808430345850347/?type=2&theater Also someone posted this on twitter: Also I think it's noteworthy that a lot of the victims of this fire seem to be immigrants. Could that be a possible reason for why the authorities are downplaying the casualty number?
  21. There are rumours that the authorities are being pressured to hold the numbers back and reveal them gradually by politicians. So far 17 have been confirmed death but the death toll is expected to rise. Also a number of eye witnesses on twitter have claimed that rescue operations didn't start until late. For the first few hours, the police were just trying to keep onlookers away from the building. Nothing was being done to rescue the people inside. People are complaining about police negligence resulting in the unnecessary loss of lives but I think it's possible that the police were more confused and didn't know what to do. Bottom line is that more people could have been saved so people won't be forgetting about this fire any time soon.
  22. In other news, Trump is making some bold decisions to stop terrorism: Remember a few weeks ago Trump sold weapons to Saudi Arabia and then Saudi Arabia accused Qatar of funding terrorism. So Trump is basically arming both sides of the conflict.
  23. It's funny they haven't called this gunman a terrorist yet despite the fact that he engaged in violent behaviour for political reasons. Oh yeah he's white. He's not a Muslim so he can't be a terrorist.
  24. I think you may be confusing the American Muslim community with the European Muslim community. The American Muslim community is fairly well integrated. They tend to have high paying jobs, have the highest rate of women's education among any ethnic group etc. They also aren't any Muslim-only enclaves in the US like there are in some parts of Europe. For certain reasons, Muslims in Europe have had more difficulty integrating into the society than the Muslims in the US. There are a number of explanations for this and this article identifies a few.
  25. https://twitter.com/arjunsethi81/status/873616242472611840 So today the U.S. decided to embarrass itself even further by holding a nation wide protest against Sharia law being implemented in the country. As always, many people in the U.S. is always going after imaginary enemies. Thank god there were counter protests that were larger in some states: http://www.nydailynews.com/new-york/manhattan/anti-sharia-demonstration-dwarfed-islam-supporting-protesters-article-1.3237042?cid=bitly
