Oh, wow, a lot of new posters since I last stopped by. Hi everyone! The short version of the story behind my username is, the poem Stopping By Woods on a Snowy Evening seems to follow me around through various phases of my life. I'm quite fond of the poem, it popped up at different points in my schooling purely by chance (an analysis on the final exam in English after I had already written reports on it in previous years - score!), and it's kind of a running joke in my family now that anything and everything Stopping By Woods be brought to my attention. The avatar, I believe The Woman posted a few avatars back in the day, I asked for permission to use one of them as my own. I like purple already, but an avatar with the Purple Shirt of Sex... Mmm... Me likey. :3

What other TV shows do you watch?
aSnowyEvening replied to EvigMidnat's topic in Movies & Entertainment
Hmm, in terms of shows with their fandoms, one of the top ones that comes to mind would definitely be ReBoot. Although, it seems to have quieted down a bit in the past couple of years. I still find it's a fandom with mostly warm people that can share their love of an awesome cartoon. Other shows I'm currently invested in (ie. new episodes are/will be made): Big Bang Theory Glee Mythbusters (they're still making new ones, right?) Game of Thrones (fan of the books, actually) And... um... hmm. While I have my little anime collection, I don't think I'm actually watching a current show at the moment. I watched the first couple of episodes of Tiger and Bunny but then life got busy all of a sudden and I kept forgetting to pick it back up. I'll need to do that. Although it's probably been licensed in North America by now...? -
Oh, by the way, since I hadn't commented on it before: I love your avatar!

Sherlock Holmes in the 22nd Century
aSnowyEvening replied to aSnowyEvening's topic in Other Versions
My God. I've only watched the first 2 parts, but that was amazing. Complete with the sound effects from other brilliant 80's cartoons such as Rainbow Brite. And holy crow is Moriarty ever ugly in that one! I love it. (LOL at Mycroft though) And, Ok, I am horribly ignorant of the canon and need to ask- was Watson always in need of a little exercise? -
Shoot the Wall (A.K.A. The Rant Thread)
aSnowyEvening replied to Banshee's topic in Miscellaneous Musings
Ah, thanks to you both, Jessie and Banshee. After calming down a bit... well, I definitely need to do the pro's/con's list and think about it objectively to make a decision still. But the advice helps, it really does. And, wow, I can't believe I read over the shipping thing earlier and didn't clue in that I know exactly what you're talking about. I myself ship K and B, I think they're absolutely adorable together, but I think in different circumstances K and D would have been a good couple as well. But, um, we K/B shippers are not ALL that crazy, honest! It's just that the crazy ones are the most vocal and it gives the allusion that we're all that crazy. Which we're not. Personally, I think the Q/R shippers are a bit more on the crazy side. Actually, there's something rant-worthy: the fact that all too often, the extremely loud vocal minority of a group is SO loud that folks that don't know any better assume that the ENTIRE group consists of the minority. Not ALL shippers are batpoop crazy. Not ALL anime fans are socially-challenged 30 year-olds that sit in their parents' basement watching animated porn all day. Not ALL students are loud and obnoxious party animals who don't know about self-control because it's their first time away from mommy and daddy's watchful gaze. Etc, etc. Maybe I'm bitter and I just see this phenomenon as a way of life now and there's not much that can be done about it, because what can you do when the person looking in is so closed-minded that they're not willing to open their minds a little bit and see that maybe they can't see the entire situation from their perspective? And it's NOT to say that you are closed-minded, Lirael! Honest! I'm so sorry that you were bullied by those folks for simply having a different opinion on the romantic situations surrounding fictional characters, it sucks that people can behave that way. It was just a segue into a phenomenon that was bugging me a few weeks ago. -
No, that was not a typo. Yes, the 22nd Century. Our newest version is not the only rendition of Sherlock Holmes to take place in the future. So, there was this cartoon I liked to watch in the Saturday morning line-up in my 90's childhood. I don't remember much of the show other than it had some really awesome 3D graphics at the time that made the show come to life, Moriarty looked like some weird sophisticated Wolverine, Watson was brought back as a cyborg that needed to drop a few pounds, and... well, here's the first episode, for your enjoyment. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dxmoOUsZzOs Anyone else used to watch it? Opinions on what little there is to judge from the first episode? Would Sherlock really not think twice about waking up in the 22nd century? Is honey really that good of a preservative? How much cheese can you pack into a good ole 90's cartoon? Discussion or something?

*Hears the word Canadian and perks her head up* Hello hello! Welcome aboard! I know what you mean, I had similar reservations about Doctor Who before finally sitting down and watching an episode. I'm so glad we have the ability to be open-minded to try out new things like this, there's some great stuff out there just waiting to be discovered!
