... and that's the current extent of the announcement, except for the hash tag #SherlockR3VEALED.  At first, I assumed that it referred to the revelation of the new villain, which they posted a few hours later, but apparently not.  That big (though hazy) "5" looks suspiciously like a countdown!

A tweet posted on their Tumblr page says that "Reichenbach" is set to rerun on Friday at 8:30 pm BST.  Connection?

Their first two posts showed the usual view of London, then a shot of Piccadilly.  This one shows the door at 221B -- but does anyone recognize the face?

Those are stray hairs below the ear and next to the jaw.  I'm thinking Irene Adler.  It would go along with the quote here and she certainly was "dangerous."

Hmm, could be.  I was kinda thinking Moriarty, but could be Irene with an updo.

 

I keep thinking it's probably a screencap or publicity still, so we've presumably seen it somewhere before.  But I really can't place it.

Moffat and Gatiss were pretty emphatic at the ComicCon charity panel that Moriarty is dead-dead-dead.  Moffat was obnoxious about it, actually.  (So what's new?)

 

I'm trying to think of heads we've seen in front of the 221B door and the only one I can think of is Sherlock, when he finds the door busted in.

 

Are we sure this isn't him?  Coming home?

Doesn't look like him to me, but I can't be sure.  I'm reasonably certain that whoever it is, is looking towards us, though, not at the door, because the hair seems to be behind bare skin.  It doesn't have to be someone actually standing at the door, it could be a composite.

 

The reason I'm thinking standard shot is that the first two pictures are ones they've used over and over.

This has been coming in on the Sherlockology newsfeed consistently at noon BST (7 a.m. EST), so "1" should occur at noon Friday, well ahead of the evening broadcast.  Of course, "1" may say, "watch Sherlock tonight for details," in which case all us Americans will be a] furious, and b] depending on you all for the news.

 

On the other hand, they could be counting down to zero, which wouldn't be till Saturday.

The word around Tumblr, and I think it was from some semi-official source, is that the big reveal happens Friday night right after Reichenbach airs.  That's why I'm suspecting a trailer.  They are still denying they have an airdate, so possibly we will get that or something like "December 2013." 

 

I imagine Sherlockology will post immediately.
