^ That was my first thought, haha. VBS, what is it about the word "Alchemist" that you like? The book? -

Oh, haha! I can see how you would have thought that. I actually did consider using it as a signature, lol. But no, that was just included as a warning for people who are annoyed by parentheses, to expect more. :P I will never stop with the parentheses. -
I just wanted to point out that there was this bit of dialogue in TEH: I took it to mean that there either was or will be a second proposal sometime before TSoT.

Myers-Briggs personality types -- and quiz
Artemis replied to Arcadia's topic in Miscellaneous Musings
I wouldn't say it was easy. I wouldn't necessarily say it was hard, either. What it was was alienating. Have you ever been in a group of people who are all talking/thinking/obsessing about the same thing constantly, and you have no interest whatsoever in that thing? You might even think that thing is boring, stupid, gross, or just plain annoying. Imagine being surrounded by that group all day, every day, and that's a teensy bit what it's like to be an asexual teenager. At least that was part of my experience. For "Star Trek: TNG" fans, it's a little like being Wesley in the episode "The Game". Everyone's playing it. Everyone's talking about it when they're not playing it, and thinking about the next time they get to play it. Everyone's trying to make you play it. Everyone thinks there's something suspicious or wrong with you if you're not playing it. Some people even try to force it on you, because "you'd like it if you tried it". Everyone's asking you, "Where's your game?" "Have you played the game yet?" "What level are you on?" "Are you gay?" (Okay, they never asked him that one, but I've certainly been asked that question an irritating number of times, lol.) ^ Ditto to all of that. It is tough being an asexual who's not aromantic as well. -

Thanks! =] I think I'll be keeping it for awhile though, I'm starting to get attached to it, lol. -

Sherlock is explaining his oblivious and then stunned reaction to John trying to ask him to be his best man. The full quote is: "The point I'm trying to make is that I am the most unpleasant, rude, ignorant, and all-round obnoxious arsehole that anyone could possibly have the misfortune to meet. I am dismissive of the virtuous, unaware of the beautiful, and uncomprehending in the face of the happy. So if I didn't understand I was being asked to be best man, it is because I never expected to be anybody's best friend. And certainly not the best friend of the bravest and kindest and wisest human being I have ever had the good fortune of knowing." I don't know if it will remain my signature, but I was rewatching TSoT the other night and it was something that struck a chord with me. Still undecided. =] Yes, I am a harpist as well as a pianist. That is, I possess the skill while lacking any talent for it, lol. The harp is not nearly as complicated as it looks, though. -
How can I add my favorite Series 4 episode?

Thanks for looking into this! I agree, I think it makes more sense. I'd like to see it as an option either way though. =] -
Myers-Briggs personality types -- and quiz
Artemis replied to Arcadia's topic in Miscellaneous Musings
I don't put much stock into any kind of IQ test, personally. I don't think it's a very good measure of intelligence, because intelligence by nature is very ambiguous and difficult to measure. To a large extent it's up for interpretation. I just meant that they're really two very different types of tests. Administered tests tend to be more expansive, covering a wider range of knowledge and abilities, while online IQ tests tend to only evaluate one type of logical reasoning. As for myself, I've ranged anywhere between 126 and 158 (if I'm remembering correctly), depending on the type of test and period of my life. I suffered some brain damage in college, which dropped me to my lowest (it also tends to drop a bit with age). With some time I've managed to climb back up into the high 130's, but I'll never again be where I was at my best. In a sense I've had to relearn how to think; my brain processes differently now. Slower. It changed me. But I've probably said too much, lol. -

Not at all accurate, to my understanding. Moreover, "real", administered IQ tests are much different than online ones. -

I was sorting through an old bin of papers I saved from my childhood, and I came upon a forgotten outline for a Holmes story I had written. (I never actually wrote out any of my stories, I just enjoyed coming up with ideas, lol.) Must've been sometime in middle school. It featured a character named Artemis (not her "real" name, but an alias). It was funny reading it again, and as far as I remember it's the only Sherlockian thing I ever wrote, so I decided to make it my username. I'll probably change it eventually, but my current avatar is a silhouette of Sherlock playing his violin. In my outline, Artemis is a harpist (like myself, but decidedly much better at it, lol), and she and Sherlock share a love and knowledge of music that ends up being key. I haven't decided on a signature yet, and I may not. Too much good material to choose from. =] (As you can see, I overuse parentheses.) -
I wasn't sure where to ask this, but I was just curious... When will the option to select our favorite episode from series 4 be added to our profiles? I like seeing everyone's picks. =]

I didn't retake this particular test (I took it a long time ago and have the results around somewhere), but I'm a type 5 (aka The Observer, The Thinker, The Investigator), 5 wing 6 (aka The Problem Solver, The Scientist), and my tritype is 512 (5w6, 1w2, 2w1). Some stuff about my type: -

Thank you! I'm proceeding with caution, but I look forward to the prospect of enjoying and discussing the show with someone other than my skull. =] -

44. Conflicts with the "above 30" rule, seeing as I'm on the Autistic Spectrum. Perhaps I understood the questions in a way I wasn't meant to. -

INTJ. ^ Sounds a lot like me, except I am consistently INTJ. I wouldn't say it's a dead-on description of me, though. I relate to a few other types, like INFJ and INTP, and I come out moderately balanced in all the traits save Introversion, which is almost 100%. My N/S percentage is always the closest to being even, though I don't see an overwhelming reflection of myself in ISTJ. -

^ Minus the left-handedness, and adding Asperger's and PTSD to the depression, this sounds like me. I liked reading through this thread. I've been a little appalled by things I've seen from the fandom over the last couple of weeks, and it's nice to know that I didn't spend 5 years avoiding the fandom only to jump in now and find myself awash in conspiracy and odium.
