  1. I was a firm fan when the show was out before. Would LOVE more! And I think there would be huge interest for it!
  2. And on that spacial Samhain night, everyone gathered at the cheiftain's home, even people who were sworn enemies. It was a very holy time. You feasted with the dead one more time and sent them off with The Lord, to the summercountry. And you had to be careful, because those dark forces wanted to take those souls away to a bad place. You did all you could to confuse the dark forces and frighten them off. And the cheiftain had to protect you, even to giving up his own life, to keep you from harm. The least you could do was keep a civil tongue in your head and be pleasant to eveyone at the table. So fueds were patched up, and sins forgiven. This is what "The Church" declared to be a pagan ritual.
  3. I read horrific amounts of fic. So I can tell you "I believe in Sherlock Holmes" is EXTREMELY playing up to fanfic people! The Elementary writers must be hyper aware of what's going on in the fan community. In fic, it's a grafitti campaign being carried out by Holmes's Homeless Network, in a retaliation for society's rejection of their freind. The campaign is supported by a legion of former clients , who were helped by Sherlock and watched him in action. It's what forces The Met to start really assessing the whole Brooks/Moriarty problem, and coming to the shocking conclusion that Moriarty was real, and so was Sherlock Holmes.
  4. Actually, I will have to forgo chopsticks and use a fork! As for this good and bad luck stuff...I have some theatre background. A B.A. in Theatre. So some of those superstions about whistling, not using the M word, the peacock feathers, the hat on the bed thing......I don't really "believe", but out of respect I tend to follow. It's about traditions. Being connected to something bigger than yourself. Honouring what went before. I wear a steel link bracelet a lot. It has TORCHWOOD I LOVE JACK written on it. It's not worth anything, but it is profoundly important to me. It symbolises hope and a better future. It is a "touchstone" for me. As is my username. Both could be considered good luck charms. They wont make anything magically better, they just make me feel connected to something bigger and more positive.
  5. You merging devil, you!
  6. I have read some good fanfic that brings out John's talents and skill set. I love BAMF! John! Hopefully the new BBC season will let John's inner soldier loose on the criminal element of London. After all, with Sherlock "dead", Lestrade will have to bring cases to John. Right?
  7. Hmmmmm. This is a killer problem. Don't think of it as demoting. Give these ladies a designated duty to perform. One of them can be the Lady of Flowers; in charge of making sure all the floral arrangements at the church and reception site are properly set up and looked after. Another lady could be in charge of gift recieving; making sure all the tags are firmly attached to the boxes so you know exactly who gave you what. Someone else would be responsible for the elderly guests; making sure their needs are seen too. Also there is the catering problem; someone has to shuttle back and forth bringing messages from the kitchen to the bridal party, about when things are ready to proceed. And there is also the problem of out of town guests; someone needs to help them find accommodation, and get them to rehearsal dinners and the church and reception. This is YOUR wedding. Deep cleansing breath! If you have decided that you want a smaller bridal party that is your right. But you can eliminate any bad feeling by giving these ladies an important wedding task to be responsible for. Does this work for you?
  8. I know that there are conflicting viewpoints. This forum would be boring if there weren't! But I do like Elementary very much. I like what is being done with the Joan character. A woman is keeping up with Sherlock, being an asset on crime scenes. And Holmes' sexuality is, I think, up to what the writers of the show want for their version of Sherlock. This is the CBS treatment of the Sherlock Holmes character, not the BBC version. I must admit that Sherlock's affection for women in Elementary makes him more human. He enjoys women, he enjoys letting his hair down with them and has no hang ups about enjoying sex with them. I have two questions about The Deductionist; what happened to Clyde, and what did Sherlock do to Joan's toothbrush?
  9. This puts a big goofy grin on my face! And, of course.....
  10. I HAVE had experience with the canon, since my early teens. Blame my dad. He was desperate to get me out of Nancy Drew and drecky westerns and scifi. Yes, the Granada version of Sherlock Holmes (Brett) is the closest to canon so far. But I have always enjoyed the excursions into what fanfic would call AU. I think there is room for experimentation with situation and character. I like to see what other writers can come up with to further the Sherlock legend. I enjoy both the BBC Sherlock and the Elementary version. I also love the Granada version. King's books give me more Sherlock and there is also another author who has written some more along the line of ACD's casebooks. When I can remember the author I will post the name of the author and books. There is so much variety available; like sampling from a nce big brunch buffet. Don't just have the scrambled eggs, try the belgian waffles too! Oh, and I love Clyde! Let's hope he stays out of the soup!
  11. This Sherlock isn't really autistic. He just grew up in an odd family and had to make some self protective personality adjustments.
  12. Let's see....The Sherlock action figure. With portable microscope engraved with the words Property of St. Bart's....Large, sweeping dramatic wool coat with collar that snaps up to sharpened cheek bones.Trailing blue scarf. And cell phone that makes an orgasmic sigh.
  13. Hey! Someone else here watched Forever Knight! Yowza! But we should have added in Midsomer Murders' Tom Barnaby and Hettie Wainthrop!
  14. I saw the film and loved it! It is an all round winner, and I can't believe the Academy had the brains to nominate it. Martin is the voice of "Number Two", the long suffering first mate. This is a family friendly flick; completely suitable for all ages. I hope the nomination gives it good buzz!
