  1. I chose "Bakerstreet Irregular" because I'm not exactly homeless but I do seem to have ended up crashing on friend's couches the last few years. I'm not a "Sherlock Holmes" or Dr. Watson, but I do love a good mystery. The background for the avatar was very intriging to me and very beautifully mysterious and Holmesian. I love the mysteries left behind by the stone circle builders and Sherlock loved roaming the moores and studing the history of the ancient Britians.
  2. I usually will use Amazon but in this case I am going through a local indepentant little book store who are very excited about this project and are more then happy to order any of the titles that are being published to help fund The Undershaw Preservation Fund. They can't get every title as some are only available in the UK, but they do try. They even hope to host an event with all procedes going to Undershaw. So if you know of a bookstore near you that would help order these books please do support them as well.
  3. I agree with 221B for the most part, but I do have to disagree that John felt a pulse that day. The little blue ball would have taken care of that, suppressing the blood flow in that arm. Also, John is to open, to honest, just not the actor that Sherlock is. If he can cry like that even after 3 months....that was for real. He actiually things that Sherlock is dead. Just like in the Sir Arthur Conan Doyle story, because....as far as Sir Doyle was concerned, at the time,..... Sherlock Holmes was not coming back.
  4. Yes! I was thinking of that scene in "The Great Game" where he is talking to the woman and faking tears. I just didn't mention it in the post, silly me.
  5. I don't mind change, and I do realize that Sherlock Holmes was meant to be regarded as real a person as possible, maybe to real, as it has turned out. But in King's "O' Jerusalem" he is constantly referred to as "old man". It got to be a bit erksome, at least to me. Finally broke down and bought "Locked Rooms" after Christmas. Still haven't finished "The Pirate King" yet.
  6. Sherlock could have thickened his voice without the tears or trembling lower lip, I would think. There were times during the call that he sounded normal, his voice steady and strong. The snipers had seen both Sherlock and John at the pool. Sherlock never skipped a beat and was ready to shoot the vest of explosives and John had indicated that he was willing to let him do it even if it meant them both dying as long as they took Moriarty out. So why the fake tears and emotions. No one would be expecting them.
  7. I have started reading the Moor but haven't finished it, yet. I do like her. Just wish he hadn't made Holmes so old. But that's unavoidable, I suppose. Makes him more "human". To me he will always be immortal, oh well. Just my take on it. But I do find King's writing interesting, obviously.
  8. In "The Study In Pink" Sherlock looks at the phone "Harry" gave John and says "Power connection, tiny little scuff marks around the edge. Every night he goes to plug it in to charge but his hands are shaky. You never see those marks on a sober man's phone, never see a drunk's without them." Also comes from the "Sign of the Four". Sherlock is deducing Watson's gold pocket watch.
  9. Must be camera angle. You can find a video captured by a tourist who happened to stumble into the filming of that scene. It showes "Sherlock" falling from St. Bart's. He is in harness being lowered by a crane.
  10. Thank you so much for the warm welcome.
  11. I've read most of them. I've not delved into "Locked Rooms" as yet. Maybe after the New Year. I'm having trouble getting through "The Pirate King", That one is not holding my interest. Not quite sure why. I just finished "The Language of Bees."
  12. Yes, he did land wrong. If he had hit the side walk the same way he was falling he would not have landed parallel to the wall like he did. He probably landed in the laundry truck then let himself fall from there to the sidewalk. He was playing with a small blue ball in the morgue. I have been reading where a ball put in the arm pit and pressed will cause temperary loss of blood flow in the arm and there would be no discernable pulse. I too think the gathering of people was prearranged. They gathered just to darn quickly to be spur of the moment. This was planned by Sherlock and others. He knew Moriarty wanted him dead and that it was to be somekind of a "Fall."
  13. He knew that Moriarty was up to something big for him. Sherlock was getting in the way of his "consulting" criminal activites. The disruption of the Black Lotus and such. Moriarty did say that he would have to kill Sherlock, someday, and that he would also "burn the heart out of him." Moriarty also knew that Sherlock was not the friendless sociopath he tried to be. Anyone in law inforcement will tell you that haveing close friends and family can be a liability. The bad guys can use them against you, black mail, ransoms, that sort of thing. Was Sherlock faking the tears? Why would he? What would be the point? No, I do think, and my own opinion only, that he realized that he did care about certain people and he was cared about in return. He does have trouble with dealing with people. His asperger's may have come into play here. He was going to hurt the one person that had not only befriended him, but was willing to kill for him. A bit of a shock and cause for a whole lot of emotion?
  14. Hi there. I am obviously new as of tonight. Was just looking for sites related to Sherlock Holmes and I found this forum. Always nice to find like minded people. Thank you so much for being here.
  15. Hello! I'm new here having just found this forum this evening. Been a Sherlockian since I was about 8 years old and it's always a thrill to find like minded people. BBC has really done a beautiful job at modernizeing Sherlock Holmes. CBS tried it back in the 1980's but it didn't take off at all.
