My first post in a long time... Season 5 has wrapped filming, is anyone else impatiently waiting for the first trailer like I am?
-
Best episode by far. Loved every second of it, and the mind palace scene was mind blowing.

I'm most looking forward to people's reactions as the episode airs. That will be incredibly fun

I've read them. It didn't spoil the entire episode...there's a lot of information left out and not everything is right. But it does give away a very huge plot point. The person is spamming tumblr with it, too...posting the same thing over and over and without regards for the people who don't want to see it. Not cool for someone to do that. Glad you feel better, though.

Absolutely DO NOT spoil it for yourself first. Really, don't. I promise you, you want to watch it as unspoiled as possible. I think people are getting themselves worked up over imaginary scary things that aren't true. There are a lot of shocks and it's an emotional roller coaster, but you want to see this, and you want to see it when it airs and before you check the internet. Because I promise, you will thank me when you watch it without spoilers. /knows what she's talking about That's probably true for some people. Not for me. I have never once in my life regretted having spoilers ahead of time when it came to a television program (the only one I avoid spoiling now is The Walking Dead). And when I was reading Deathly Hallows, someone spoiled before I got to it, and I was kind of annoyed by that. But I've never, like, sought out spoilers deliberately and then been disappointed that I did. If I decide that I want to know, I make that decision wholeheartedly and don't regret it. Still, I'm sure there are people who do think they want to know and then wish they didn't. I will be keeping quiet on any information I have unless anyone specifically messages me and says they are 100% certain that they want to know. Haven't gotten anything in my inbox yet. Although I was kind of hoping anyone who had read all the ACD stories would, just so I'd have someone to discuss the "canon-ness" of the spoilers with. When I click on that link, it just takes me to the old The Empty Hearse trailer. What am I doing wrong? I read the Milverton story before bed last night. It was actually a really quick read. I'm going to try to read His Last Bow tonight or tomorrow, because I've heard that that one is also important to the episode. Believe me, you'll thank me after the episode is over if you watch it without spoilers. Seriously. I'm a spoiler hound myself, but this is one that is best experienced as it happens. The clips and pictures are in the 'exclusive content' that you have to click on. 3 new clips and a few new pictures.

New clips and pictures from HLV up on the interactive trailer site, btw. http://www.wirewax.com/sherlock

Then you will love this episode

We can never know where Mofftiss is taking this, but in Canon Watson finds Holmes in a opium den and lights into him only to find that Holmes wasn't actually using he was there undercover on a case. So we may see Sherlock backslide....or not. Canon is very, VERY important in this episode. Everyone who hasn't read the story of Milverton yet should do so before the episode airs

I can honestly say that I've never been so excited to see people's reaction to something ever

Awww, thanks for that friendly warning! I don't really want to know everything in advance, but there are some things I'd better let myself be warned about and before I know too little, I'd rather know too much. (I am the type of person who goes and reads the ending of books first, just so I won't get too attached to a character only to find out he or she dies horribly or turns out to be a villain or stuff like that. I'm a real baby about fictional people!) I saw The Reichenbach Fall completely unspoiled, however. It was an experiment in honor of Sherlock. And so I didn't know he was going to be still alive after The Fall. Yes, I knew he didn't die originally, but I did know that Doyle intended him to and I did not know about series 3 having been already commissioned. So even though I couldn't fail to notice there was a lot that looked fishy about his death, it was quite horrible for me and I certainly liked the episode a lot better the second time 'round when I knew I was going to see him alive and well in the graveyard... Previous knowledge or not, rest assured: I always want to see Sherlock. Always, always. Believe me, if you are 'warned' about anything, you will get worried! Having part of the information is worse than having all of it, because there are things that, if you were to hear what happened, would absolutely shock you...until you knew WHY they happened. So that's why I say...don't be worried about it now, but just know that you will love what you see!

Thanks for that, darling, it makes me feel a little better. Anytime Just trying to help smooth some things out until the episode airs. I can't wait to actually talk about it without being cryptic But it's a superb episode, easily my favorite.
-
My thoughts exactly! They better not do that again. Yeah, TSoT is now my favorite episode out of all of them. I really don't want them to go back and undermine that. I'm going to be really, really upset if they do. SPOILER! Oh, great. That makes me feel like they probably are going to SPOILER: Yeah, except, like I said, No, it isn't remotely like that As far as TSoT, this actually builds on it. Doesn't undermine it at all...in fact, TSoT is very, VERY important.
-
SPOILER! Oh, great. That makes me feel like they probably are going to SPOILER: Okay, I'll risk no more guesses, but all of this makes me feel like we could be in for the best episode yet, or at least the most emotionally dramatic one. That is definitely, DEFINITELY true
-
SPOILER! You've got to be kidding me! Either you're pulling my chain, or Ah well, my imagination may be running wild, but that's no wonder with these spoilers. Dead serious

SPOILER! Oh, great. That makes me feel like they probably are going to SPOILER:

Is anyone going to the "His Last Vow" premiere on Wednesday?

It's absolutely shocking. Stunning, breath-taking. Can't think of anything else, I'm just in shock right now -
Wow, I won't give anything away. But I am absolutely stunned by this episode. Absolutely STUNNED. (and I don't say that lightly)

But is he REALLY a recovering addict? He's a perpetual addict...but not for drugs. He's addicted to 'not being bored'. Drugs are only one solution to that problem, and not even his preferred one. If he has something interesting, he doesn't think twice about cigarettes. He only goes for the cigarettes when he's bored. He doesn't reach for drugs to forget his problems...only to occupy the time until something more interesting comes along. I don't think he's a recovering drug addict at all. He's simply addicted to action. But, as his experience with alcohol in TSoT proved, Sherlock's body is just as susceptible to substance as anyone else's. Just because he's intelligent and bored and just because he may say he only reaches for drugs when he's looking to pass the time, doesn't mean he couldn't still have become a junkie. I know a lot of casual marijuana users. I don't know ANY casual heroine or cocaine users. But I do know a lot of naive people who wanted to "experiment" with these types of drugs and ended up becoming addicts. Sherlock likes to pretend it's always mind over matter with him, but that's not the case when it comes to substance abuse, particularly the more hardcore stuff. And I doubt Lestrade would have really had him worried in the pilot, if he were only in danger of finding a bag of weed in Sherlock's sock drawer. Not unless the laws over there are a lot different than they are here. As for the reasons behind his initial foray into drug abuse... it's very possible that he started because of boredom. We don't know for sure, because it was never stated. It's equally possible that it was because of loneliness and isolation. Mycroft's fear that he would fall off the wagon due to grief suggests that emotional factors were at some point contributions to his drug use. I don't think Mycroft would be so worried about a "danger night" if Sherlock had only ever turned to drugs in boredom. Oh, I never said he wasn't susceptible to it. But there just hasn't been any indication at all that he's a recovering drug addict. If anything, the scene with him getting drunk actually shows that his tolerance ISN'T very high, suggesting that he's not actually used to substance abuse. He can't 'fall off of a wagon' that he's never been on. I'm sure he's tried every drug under the sun, but that doesn't mean he abused them. Cigarettes? Yeah, he's addicted to them...but only when he has nothing better to do.

That was my thought, too. He might use them for show, but not because he's really that depressed.

They've screened all three episodes this time around...but I don't know anyone who is going. Seems to be mostly for press and a few lucky fans.
