  1. BBC1 will be rerunning Sherlock series 2 over the next few weeks (would have started tonight, except Wimbledon bumped it to next week). According to several sources, the name of episode 3 will be hidden within these 3 episodes. "The Title is in the Title" was the phrase they used. I lost the page, but it was on Sherlockology and Radio Times. This won't be on any dvd, blu-ray or old version of the show...only the ones that will rerun.
  2. I'm not sure exactly what "rat" means, but I'm guessing it means someone on the inside was helping Moriarty. "Wedding" is pretty obvious now that it was Now, we just have "Bow" left...and from what Moffat has said, it will be another cliffhanger (yay). So, what is "Bow"? The bow of a ship? His last bow? What do you think?
  3. I was really impressed with the dub overall. The voices take getting used to (John's voice is deeper and Sherlock is less emotive [than usual]), but they did a great job of keeping as much of the original jokes in there as they could. You could really feel the British jokes coming through, so I liked that (instead of changing them to something comparable in japanese). And of course, I even got a little teary-eyed when he said "Sayounara, John" just before jumping.
  4. I would be more apt to think that Sherlock's line implied that he was willing to sacrifice his friends (like Moriarty would). I just don't know what Sherlock could do to Moriarty, up on that rooftop with his people watching, other than kill him...and it still wouldn't save his friends. If Sherlock had left the roof, his friends would die. If Moriarty thought Sherlock was going to torture him, he'd probably just laugh at him or kill himself instead. But what would truly make Sherlock like Moriarty (in Moriarty's mind)? Killing his friends to win the game. I can't think of anything else that would make Moriarty respect him. And Sherlock would definitely burn for that.
  5. So, not really a question, but there was something interesting when I was watching the Japanese dub of Sherlock: ASIB. In the English version, he calls her "The woman"...but in Japanese, they don't have articles like "a", "an" or "the (they also don't have future tenses, plurals, etc- makes for an interesting language, lol). So, anyway they use "Ano onna", which means "That woman" instead. At the very end, where Sherlock says "The woman...the woman", in the dub, he said "Ano onna...ano...onna". The really interesting thing is that in the sub, it won't have that intonation, so they actually had to change the words to "Ano onna...hiruinaki onna", which means "That woman...the woman without equal." I found it an interesting translation of something they don't have an equivalent for.
  6. Well, when Sherlock says "[so there is] a recall word or a number", Moriarty is surprised. I don't think Moriarty thought that Sherlock would reach that conclusion.
  7. That does make sense. Moriarty believed that Sherlock had no way out. Moriarty knew what a lot of people didn't fully yet realize. That Sherlock did have a heart, he did care and this was his Achilles's heel. If Moriarty could die being thought an innocent killed by Sherlock Holmes with no hope of redemption then he would have indeed won the game. Sherlock would take Moriarty's place as master criminal and Moriarty would be forever painted as the hero who brought him to heel. Hi, I'm new here I'll run to introduce myself in a sec.. I think you're onto something here. But I have a slightly different view on Moriarty's motives. He kills himself to force Sherlock to kill himself as well. If Sherlock really knew the recall code, he could have recalled the killers himself, but he needed Moriarty ("I don't have to die if I've got you"). Then Moriarty realised that they are two faces of the same coin, both in it for the game ready to do whatever it takes to win. Except one looks towards destruction and evil and the other towards good and saving people (sorta..). Sherlock really cares about saving his friends and they both know it (Moriarty:"As long as I'm alive, you can save your friends, you've got a way out. Well, good luck with that."). Dying is a small sacrifice if he gets to win the game and have Sherlock commit suicide (and as you mentioned it, with no hope of redemption, since the only two people who could redeem him are dead). ^I agree I am just stumped as to how he convinces Moriarty that he does know the recall code...I'm sure there's a dog whistle that we all are missing Welcome!
  8. You had probably followed the directions on the package! LOL, kind of, actually Most Japanese wear traditional clothing like kimono or yukata for celebrations or special occasions, so many of the younger generations don't actually know how to wear them properly- so what many do is either pay someone to put it on them, rent the entire outfit and and expert will put it on them, or have a family member who knows how do it. Since I would never have anyone who could help me put it on, I asked the ladies in the department store to teach me. A couple of years ago, I dressed my daughter up in her little yukata that a friend had sent and I wore my old one for Halloween.
  9. I think a gift that stands out like that for me was a present my friend Hiromi gave to me for my birthday when I lived in Japan. We were getting ready to go to the port for the umi no hi festival and everyone met over at my apartment. I was still tying the obi on my yukata when they came in, and gave me birthday presents (a big surprise for me). Hiromi gave me set with these delicate pink crystal hair pins, a handkerchief and a fan. I was so in love with them that I wore them all to the festival (it's almost a must to have a fan on you in the hot summer months in Japan). The funniest part of that festival was when this tiny, little old lady suddenly grabbed Hiromi from behind and started retying her obi saying "No good, no good". Then she looked at my obi (and I'm a foreigner that did it myself) and she said "Good, good" with a thumbs up. We all laughed. That was 10 years ago now, and I still have them in the same box which she gave to me.
  10. ようこそ!Bienvenue! Bienvenidos! Welcome
  11. Heh, the little shroud they wear in the "tame" movie version doesn't leave very much to the imagination anyway But I admit I was too enthralled with what they were doing to really pay any attention to it.
  12. Ah, double post- I'll edit it with a picture that ran in the city newspaper featuring the clothing line she modeled last year: Credit: Kathy Wolfe
  13. Your eyes are gorgeous My dad had hazel eyes that looked blue, green or brown depending on what he was wearing, but neither me or my sister got those eyes. It wouldn't shock me if we carried the gene, though. My husband has blue eyes, so both of my kids have blue eyes. My daughter, however, has these really big clear blue eyes, brown hair and fair skin. She's beautiful and has even modeled some clothes for a local fashion/fsmily photographer (not as a job, though- we usually get paid in having our family pictures taken by her). She gets complimented all the time, and yet, she's like every other little (or big) girl...she worries about what others think of her. She wants to fit in- and when she noticed that her eyes were a different color blue from my husband's, son's and mine, she got scared. So I reassured her that her that her eyes were blue, even though a little bit different blue
  14. Both versions. Just...WOW. Both Benedict Cumberbatch and Johnny Lee Miller were astounding in both roles. The end just hit me like a brick, the power of it. Has anyone else seen it?
  15. Oh man, the trailer is awesome I can't believe we get a good look at Smaug's head (even in shadow). I can't WAIT to hear him This winter just can't come soon enough!
  16. True and even caucasian converts to such religions will take on a name appropriate to the religion's origin. Yes JJ Abrams did make him more a victim himself but still a violent man to access in the extreme but apparently that is what Marcus was looking for. Talk about opening a Pandora's Box. Every one I have talked to have loved it seeing it multiple times. I took a client of mine once and she immediately asked if we could go again. I had no problem with that and so I ended seeing it three times myself. Critics have given it an A rating. Not bad at all. I saw it four times, so it's obvious that I loved it
  17. I've read a few articles where some Trekkers were complaining about the "whitewashing" of Khan...completely forgetting that Montelban was also white (of Spanish descent born in Mexico), and that Sikhism is not a "race", but a religion. I had no problem with Cumberbatch playing Khan because, really, I never saw Khan as a religious figure in the old one, either. Just a genetically modified superman. And Cumberbatch's Khan was more sympathetic, imo. I actually found myself rooting for him at one point, lol. But most people praised his performance and liked the movie.
  18. Which one? The one of Gandalf in the distance. She had the bus poster (of all of the dwarves), but that's waaay too big .
  19. Very true. The nice thing about her being the GM is that she gets first dibs on all of the posters they get, lol. We have all of the LotR posters she got in, and she gave us the poster from the last Hobbit movie. I'm hoping she has a STID poster with Benedict Cumberbatch still, but I may have missed it.
  20. I grew up in middle TN in CST. When I went to college, I lived in East TN, and was in EST. I always loved driving back to CST, because then I'd gain an hour- but then I'd lose it on my way back, which sucked . Now I live in another state in EST, and I still have the same problem. It was harder when I lived in Japan, though. I'd have to call my mom in the middle of the night to talk to her. But on the plus side, I was able to talk to my friends in Australia every day. Time zones are always fun.
  21. I've already told my sister (a gm at a movie theater) that I want that poster when she gets it
  22. This is pretty much my same opinion of the movie. I like the idea of a "more human" Spock and a more humble Kirk, because then we have a dynamic we haven't had before, and it shows. I would love a sequel at some point where Khan comes back for Vengeance...but against Spock this time. Khan's savagery in this movie was just breathtaking. But I think what I loved the most was when Khan tells Spock "You can't even lie, how would you be expected to break bone?" and then later, Spock twists his arm around behind him and snaps it like a twig. Just awesome. I liked Trek growing up, but I am happy they changed it like they did. It needed a shot in the arm.
  23. We have the blu-ray of ST09, so ID will definitely be joining it when it comes out
  24. Ha ha, no- she was just freaking out because everyone else in our family has blue eyes, and she didn't want to be different . She's only 4, so she doesn't really understand this stuff yet, lol. I think green eyes are absolutely gorgeous. My husband's aunt has jade green eyes and dark hair- she's just absolutely beautiful. But she's the only one.
