  1. My thoughts on this particular picture:
  2. I really liked the change in dynamics this week. A very well written episode, and even better acted by BC. He runs the gamut of emotions (for Sherlock, at least), and it wasn't the stereotypical wedding story at all. Great character development which I appreciated. And no, I've never been the type of person who demands the 'mystery of the week' be at the forefront of the episode. I have a feeling that all of these good feelings will be swept out from underneath us in the next episode (given the ominous signs in this episode as well as the trailer for next week's episode), so I am going to enjoy basking in the glow of a mostly happy ending before the emotional crush comes our way (although, I will say: I have been, and still am, most excited about 'His Last Vow'...I think it's going to be amazing).
  3. I liked it...and then loved it the second time around. The fake theories were the best part, IMO. I think if people can just poke fun at themselves, they will have a blast with it. Can't wait for the next episode, and especially the week after that. Glad to see that Sherlock's explanation was very logical and made sense.
  4. Well, from what I've seen, it looks like:
  5. The interactive trailer is right here with extra clips and interviews: http://www.wirewax.com/sherlock
  6. I don't think he'll be too grown up or mature...just moreso than he is in Series 1 or 2.
  7. I love Billy Bob Thornton. I've seen him in "Sling Blade" and "Bad Santa", as well as some other movies. I can already imagine what he will do to Martin's character I can't wait to see what happens there. And of course, I can't wait to hear Martin with a Minnesota accent, doncha know.
  8. Definitely fans of the books.
  9. The Great Game, when they are talking about the dead security guard next to the Thames. Sherlock says that line to Lestrade in frustration.
  10. Blogtor Who was the one who tweeted about a Jan. 1st date. He's usually a very reliable source of information and not given to reporting rumors. He's also very adamant about this date, and there has been no direct refutation. So I will go with this date until confirmed otherwise.
  11. New behind the scenes pictures have been posted: http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/galleries/p01dj7k3
  12. He was suicidal and wanted to die anyway.
  13. 1. I think he's a great character, very nuanced. Updated without feeling different. 2. It feels very real to me, which is something that isn't always achieved in buddy comedies where one partner is clearly the alpha in the relationship- especially Sherlock and John. For one, you have to convince the audience that John would stay with Sherlock despite his misgivings...and they did that. 3. I doubt it. He doesn't seem to believe in any authority except his own. 4. I like this one more than most I've seen. 5. I think it's done a great job of actually feeling like TOS without being exactly like them.
  14. Yup! I came up with a theory after I watched it...setlock only seemed to confirm it. If they do something different and unexpected, I would be fine with that. But it really seems to be a face-value thing, even with the spoilers.
  15. And the dummy was able to land on it's side facing the wrong way.
  16. There is another solution: Sherlock jumped (possibly not a very long distance) and so did something else that looked like Sherlock falling and hitting the pavement. The dummy Sherlock was removed while John was on the ground and the real Sherlock took it's place. This theory accounts for reality. Mofftiss has never been too concerned for reality, however. The original canon wasn't exactly rooted in reality, either. Fiction doesn't have to be.
  17. Moffat said: "But at the same time, as Mark keeps saying, there are really only a limited number of ways he can do this. He's got to interrupt his fall before he hits the pavement. Short of developing a superpower, which we haven't ruled out." He fell on something. I think people are trying to make it out to be more complicated than it could possibly be.
  18. Hello
  19. That was one of my beefs as a kid reading these stories. Watson could get hurt but Sherlock, even when he seemed to be hurt it turned out that for the most part he was faking it. "The Adventure of the Dying Detective" and "The Illustrious Client." Every one wants their white knight a little beaten, battered, and fresh from the fight. Needing a little TLC. He definitely seems to get his share of beating in this series. A busted lip, bloody nose, and what's looking to be a pretty serious injury...I absolutely can NOT wait But I feel the same way. I hate it when the heroes seem invincible, because then there's no element of danger to it. I always liked the Illustrious Client because, finally, someone was smart enough to try to take out Holmes (even if it didn't work).
  20. That's how I feel. It doesn't look like it would be a ruse (although I never put it past him). But I'm with you...I think we need to see the vulnerable side of Sherlock Holmes every now and then. Watson can't have all the pain.
  21. Were you referring to a specific canon story there, bborchar? Or just saying that Holmes is sometimes injured? I was referring to The Illustrious Client, which some people have said is used in this episode.
  22. Actually, there seem to be a few stories from canon in this one: The Illustrious Client The Man with a Twisted Lip The Case of the Trepoff Murder The Adventure of Charles Augustus Milverton His Last Bow
  23. I can't stand marmite or vegemite (I've tried both). Blech, blech. Just like eating salt.
  24. Excuse me while I go die....
