  1. My daughter fits that pattern for hair color: But i'm not really sure what my son will end up with. His father has dark brown hair, and I have blonde hair. It wouldn't surprise me if my son's hair stayed blonde or turned dark, lol. I would be shocked if either of my children ended up with anything other than blue eyes (both sides have blue eyes). My daughter was upset the other day because she thought she had green eyes (she does have a lot of green in them) but was reassured when I said she definitely had blue, lol.
  2. The right eye: I kept noticing that sometimes his eye would have a cat-like appearance, and when I saw this shot of him, I realized why.
  3. But eyes can change colour. My best friend when we both were in our teens had (well, still has) glasz eyes (since she did some acting, there's a photo of her as a teen here, though it doesn't do her eyes justice), and they changed when she was very happy, sad or angry - they don't seem to do that so much these days, but teenage emotions tend to run higher than an adult's. I think it has to do with blood vessels dilating or constricting and therefore changing the overall colour, just as they do in our skin. Glasz eyes are just so bright that the effect is more noticeable than with other colours, just as a pale person's blushing is more prominent. And having eyes comparable to Mr. Freeman's sounds wonderful as well . His are of a most amazing warm colour. Eye color changes very much hair color. Babies are often born with only a fraction of the pigment they will have when they are older, which is why babies with grey eyes and blonde hair usually don't stay that way as they age. And when you're older, the opposite happens- you lose pigment in your eyes and hair (and skin, too). Of course, it's not always that pattern. My son was born with black hair- it fell out, and grew back in blonde. At 2 weeks: ( At 1 year: (Yep, same kid) My daughter was born with dark hair and it's still dark, although it's not as black as it used to be.
  4. My former boss is British, and he and I worked together for almost 4 years. We were always going back and forth about what we should and shouldn't do. Sometimes I would be talking about figures and throw up two fingers (index and middle) to indicate the number "2", and in Britain, if you are showing the back of your hand, it's a pretty derogatory sign (called "flipping the v"). We'd argue about it, because I'd tell him that he's in Rome now, do as the Romans, lol. He's the only thing I miss about that job. Edit: CSB: When he went on vacation for a couple of weeks, one of my coworkers and I remodeled his office in all French stuff. He was thrilled
  5. Nope, according to traditionalists there are two further "regenerations (13 Doctors in all)" but I highly doubt that the BBC will allow the show to end because of a line or two from the classic series, especially as the show, despite the [mostly erroneous] opinion that its popularity is "in decline" still remains BBC Worldwide's top cash cow. As Steven Moffat said when asked what they [the production team] would do when they reached the regeneration "limit" "We'll do what we always do; we'll make something up!" Many are happy to be seeing the back of Matt Smith, but I am not one of them. I think he's been fantastic in the role, but as I have a good understanding of the way the show works, I also look forward to seeing whomever gets the role next... Can't wait! Well, he might actually be the 12th Doctor instead of the 11th because of the surprise twist during the series finale a few weeks ago (John Hurt as the Doctor). Can't wait to see the rest of that. Smith's my favorite Doctor. I watched it off and on, but was never riveted until he became the Doctor. It could be that the writing got better (imo), but I've never cried and laughed so much as I have watching him. Definitely going to miss him.
  6. Well, when my sister and I were little we thought that my mom was seriously going to marry Magnum, so I have to go with him
  7. It was inevitable, but he's hanging it up during the Christmas special this year. Any thoughts about him or who you think the next Doctor should be?
  8. A couple of weeks ago, we adopted two fancy rats, and named them Sherlock (black and white) and John (tan and white). They are smart and make great pets
  9. My review? Awesome. I've seen it 4 times, loved it.
  10. I believe BC also has a heterochromatic eye - there's a spot of brown in the right eye.
  11. Does anyone else follow this series? I've read the books, but this episode was still hard to watch- yet I feel like the elephant in the room (for the book readers) is gone now, and that the real fun can begin. What did others think of it, no future spoilers, please!
  12. I would say that Sherlock's voice is your typical "hero" voice in Japanese. John...I guess they wanted something that didn't sound like the typical squeaky-voiced bumbling sidekick- they probably wanted to emphasize that he was a soldier, older and smart, so they cast someone with a deep voice. Moriarty is definately your crazy evil villain voice. The actors who dubbed Sherlock in Japanese: Sherlock: Satoshi Mikami Watson: Toshiyuki Morikawa Lestrade: Hara Yasuyoshi Mrs. Hudson: Ikuko Tani I also found a Japanese manga of Sherlock (it was only time, lol). Pretty much word-for-word, though. I only read the first chapter of SIP at my friend's behest (on a Doctor Who kick atm, still trying to work my way through Tennant).
  13. Hmmm ... short answer: no, yes, in that order. Long answer: that depends on whether you can stomach Sacha Baron Cohen's brand of humor (if you're familiar with it: I'd rate this movie as worse than Borat, but better than Brüno) and whether you're the patient type, for the funny bits are stretched a bit thin. Also, the humor doesn't pull any punches, so be prepared that, say, bestiality is referenced twice, iirc. That being said, Martin Freeman nails his perfomance as Ali G's best mate. In fact, many of the supporting cast were fun to watch, gleefully pouring their heart into such absurd roles. So if you decide seeing Mr. Freeman rap is worth some boredom and/or offense, rent it - but make sure there are no kids or easily shocked relatives around when you watch it . This was the part I cried laughing at:
  14. Oopsie! Sorry about that! Oops, sorry for creating a duplicate!
  15. Well, we know that the next episode will be set in early November - I wonder if it will be the next November or the November after that. I doubt it will follow canon because that would be a very long time to be dead. I don't think that Sherlock will be galavanting around the world like he did in the stories. What I would like to see is John handle a case (at least mostly) on his own. I was talking with a friend and we were discussing why bad guys don't just go after Sherlock and always go after John or Mrs. Hudson instead. John was kidnapped twice in the first season and we know that he will be kidnapped again in TEH. Mrs. Hudson has been held hostage, too. If I were a bad guy, my first priority would be to get Sherlock out of the way. It was great to see him compromised in ASIB, so I think it would be fun to see John handle a case because Sherlock couldn't- as well as what Sherlock would do. I think it would just be a fun twist on the relationship. I'm also looking forward to the wedding and how Sherlock handles it. Probably not very well.
  16. Since there's not much to talk about for the next couple of months, I was wondering- what do you want to see happen in Series 3? It could be something that you know is coming (a la spoilers), or just something you would like to see or even something you wouldn't want to see.
  17. Oh, I meant that the stage light would probably be hotter (depending on where it is) than sunlight, so it would probably melt the wax sooner ^_^
  18. Just watched this episode dubbed in Japanese. The voices are hilarious- John has a very deep voice and Sherlock is more of a tenor.
  19. Olympians on a trampoline can go as high as 33 feet, but usually only around 20 feet. They have incredibly large trampolines (7' by 14') with over one hundred springs. The rebound is also incredibly powerful. The problem with a trampoline is that if the distance is too high, the rebound would be uncontrollable, the springs could break or, most likely, the fabric doesn't have enough give to slow down the fall and the body absorbs too much of the impact. I've broken my nose landing face down on an Olympic size trampoline by landing face down (and I was only a few feet high). You can break bones, concuss yourself or even get killed if you try jumping from too high of a distance and without any proper training. Now, falling onto something that can absorb the impact without rebound will work.
  20. It's him in the picture- looks like he's wearing a dressing gown. It's incredibly difficult to make anything artificial that looks that organic - and expensive. So why bother when you have the real thing? And that wouldn't be sun in the window, it would be stage lights
  21. Yeah, you have to have something that can absorb the impact of your fall. Air is about the only substance that can do it without injury (if done properly). Even a fall into water from that distance could break bones if you don't have the proper training. A rubber sheet (or any kind of sheet) without enough give and distance would be no better than hitting the ground.
  22. Yeah, there are a couple, but none work in context of Sherlock.
  23. Sad that the trees are gone, but it means that they were either sick (happens a lot to ornamental trees planted in the cities because they are often genetically the same, and blights can take them out easily) or they were becoming a nuisance with their roots or branches. I would opt for the first one, since trees planted in the city often are often picked for their lack of sprawling roots or branches.
  24. Well, according to some yesterday:
  25. Exactly- the only way he can prove to the world that Moriarty made the whole thing up is by using Moriarty's own confession to incriminate himself and absolve Sherlock.
