From Sherlockology: Martin Freeman's explanation of Sherlock's survival, thanks to mori-tarty's on-the-scene camera work.

Caveat:  I cannot promise that this video is spoiler-free, though I strongly doubt that Mr. Freeman is revealing any more secrets than Mr. Cumberbatch did in his prior explanation.  The initial GIF looks interesting, but I haven't yet been able to download the video, nor does this seem to be the sort of video that I know how to embed in a post -- so you'll need to follow the above link to Sherlockology.

mori-tarty:

Video of Martin today, at UCD in Dublin, talking about how Sherlock survived.

I apologize for the crappy sound, must have been the way I was holding the camera :P (also I apologize for the shaking of the camera around 00:29. Edith {falloutboy2013} started snorting for no apparent reason. She later informed me it was because she had pictured Benedict Cumberbatch as a walnut.

Managed to get that video downloaded while we ate supper, and watched it afterward.  There are absolutely NO SPOILERS, but it's well worth watching nonetheless, because it's classic Freeman -- taking nearly a minute to tell us in the most charming way that he's not telling us anything.

Sorry, this is not entirely on topic, but I love your polite but accurate description of the way our dear Freeman presents himself. That made my day. :)

Well, it's definitely the most delightful 52 seconds of stonewalling that I've ever experienced.

Here's a longer video of a different portion of this same event:

NOTE:  This is Part 2 -- see Martina's posts below for parts 1, 3, and 4.

I had some trouble getting this to work for me, but it did finally download normally.  Note that the video's title (once it starts playing) says "Part 2."  I have been unable to find Part 1.  If you can find it (or perhaps even Parts 3 and 4), please let us know where!

When Freeman is talking about their hopes that Series 3 of Sherlock will be even better than the first two, I believe I heard him say, "We'll see in January."  Please let me know if my ears were playing tricks on me!

Mr. Freeman was actually at the College to receive a Fellowship (see this article for a bit more info), whatever that means in this context.  (He's in good company, what with Sherlock Holmes having also been awarded a Fellowship recently.)  Can anyone explain what this actually means in Freeman's case?

Well, I now know what I'll be downloading during dinner (and watching afterwards) for the next few evenings -- thanks, Martina!

Alex & I watched parts 1 & 2 tonight.  I Googled on "James Joyce Award" and came up with this from Wikipedia:

The James Joyce Award, also known as the Honorary Fellowship of the Society, is an award given by the Literary and Historical Society (L&H) of University College Dublin (UCD) for those who have achieved outstanding success in their given field. It is named after one of the society's alumni, James Joyce, the author of Dubliners, Ulysses, A Portrait of the Artist as a Young Man and Finnegans Wake.

So that explains why Martin Freeman was in Dublin.

I have just updated some of the YouTube addresses in this thread, so all of the videos should be working now!
