Was the one in T.o.b.y's

sign of three

It was! Sorry that I didn't make my answer more clear, but I posted it in a spoiler yesterday, so you can find it there.

Here's a more obvious hint to my anagram, if anyone wants it:

The second word in the anagram is a clue. So is the first word, but for a very different reason :)

Maybe it would help those posting the anagrams to know what sort of clues the solvers would find most helpful.

I haven't read any of the clues yet (still playing catch-up after being away from home for the past few weeks), so maybe you've done this already -- but if the solution is from a particular series or episode, I think I'd find that knowledge very helpful as a clue, done something like this, so I'd know where to look:

Here's the series it's from:

Series x

And here's the episode:

Episode Name

What general sort of thing would the rest of you find most helpful?

I agree - knowing the episode is always a huge help, but since I might enjoy the challenge of not knowing, just posting the series as a clue could be good. I have to admit, though, I find it fun if people make up their own various clues... Guess I like playing detective :) But there's no saying we can't do both!

So, for my anagram, the series is this:

Series 3 (and 2, but the words are more famous in series 3)

Episode:

HLV (and ASiB)

I'm just really bad at these so I need really specific clues.

I find anagrams to be a real challenge too.  Using Scrabble tiles helps a good deal, but even then I'm far better at making up anagrams than at solving one.

Still don't get it. I also did't understand the second clue at all.

:D Or maybe you just have a life outside 'Sherlock'.

Anyway, a very specific clue coming up:

Holiday

and one more:

Appledore

This is a long one. I had to use a generator for this one.

A ED FEEL EN GHOSTS HOT IN

Clue 1

Series 2

Clue 2

RF

Clue 3

Moriarty and Sherlock

That's all i'm gonna give now, tell me if you want more clues.

"On the side of the angels"

Correct?

Whoops, I gotta remember that spoiler box!

New anagram, which should be fairly simple:

THE CORK LEGS

Clue:

Two words

Another clue:

Moriarty

Series:

2

Episode:

TRF

Get Sherlock!

Whee, the first one I've solved!  (Without my Scrabble tiles.  And all I looked at was the Series.)  Yeah, tough one!  :P

Oh dear, now I have to post a new one, don't I?   Definitely need to get the Scrabble set out of the attic.  Meanwhile, I'll just use that handy anagram website.  OK, here's an observation from an Elizabethan rock concert:

ARENA HATH JOINTS

Series:

Series 2

Episode:

"The Reichenbach Fall"

Clue:

From a conversation in 221B.

Another clue:

The speaker is holding the object that he or she is talking about.

Is the answer

"It's an ear hat, John!"

? If so, I solved it without any clues (Yay!) - but I did use my own cut out tiles :)
