Inside Man

Any Brits watching this new Moffat/Vertue/McGuigan production?

It stars David Tennant and an excellent supporting cast.

I really only watched it for the dedication to Beryl at the end.

But as it transpires, it is a punchy, well written and directed series...of course.

I am always put off by potential spoilers.

They don't bother me, but I know some are neurotic about them.

But here goes...

The opening episode shows parallel stories, on opposites sides of the Atlantic...and a key, link character- an investigative journalist.

DT plays a vicar and his story centres around his son's maths tutor and no, they are not having an affair!

Anyhow, the woman finds herself in a tricky situation and reaches out to the journalist...

who she had encountered on a train.

The journalist in turn reaches out to the lead character in The States, as he is s top criminologist- largely dealing with 'puzzles'.

Watched it and hell, I enjoyed the ride. I would probably watch it for the cast alone, many familiar faces. :D
Short series have a big advantage, there is no time wasted on just filling the length.
Neatly tied and knotted plot, witty and humorous in a way. Loved the opening scene.

I was imagining Seven writing it with his mischievous grin - and grinning myself all the time.

I am so glad you enjoyed it.

I have heard such negativity around the series...

just no pleasing some!

You made me curious, so I looked up the cast:  https://www.imdb.com/title/tt10948716/?ref_=fn_tt_tt_1

Just offhand, I recognize only two names, the aforementioned Tennant and a young actor by the name of Louis Oliver.

It does sound intriguing, though!

This is SUCH a coincidence!

On my other Sherlock Forum, we were just discussing Louis...

who is of course LOUIS MOFFAT!

I had recognised him, but then was completely thrown by the surname...

I suspect that Oliver is his middle name.  Just a guess, though.

Radio Times gives Louis a rave review for his performance in Inside Man:  https://www.radiotimes.com/tv/drama/inside-man-louis-oliver-comment/

Good.

I am guessing the same on Oliver as a middle name...not aware it was Grandad Moffat's name.

@J.P. I think it was at a Sherlock event that Steven said to Benedict, that not every parent was thrilled when their son announced his attention to be an actor.
