Although at 50 I guess I'm not that much older than Ben and Martin?  Right?  Please?  *giggle*

Very new to this fandom.

It all started back before Xmas when a friend and I were talking about the up coming Star Trek into Darkness,  In commenting on the new villian my friend said "Oh, Cumberbatch is in the BBC's Sherlock.  You really should watch it."

Found it on Netflix, was already fond of Martin Freeman and thought, why not.

That thudding noise as I watched the first episode was the sound of my heart hitting the floor.  Raced through the other mere 5 eps and sobbed that there was no more!

Between that and Into Darkness it didn't take me long to go from mildly interested in Sherlock/Cumberbatch to full on fangirl crush.  I've watched series 1 and 2 three times now.  It would've been more but I do have a job.  I knew it was an official obsession when I found myself surfing for Xrated fan fic on night.  I already ship Johnlock harder than Mrs. Hudson.  I haven't shipped anyone this hard since Mulder and Scully.

Anyway, I have scoured the internets for anything to feed my obsession and here I am.

Middle aged, married with 2 teenagers.  Live in Atlanta, Georgia, USA.

Damn happy to be here.!

Hello Tonnaree and :welcome:. Glad you found us!

And don't worry, several of us are (supposed to be) way too old to go all-out fangirl over a series, and none of us let that pesky fact stop us .

Inside every woman is a 17-year-old girl who never ages and never dies.   You are not a dirty old woman.  You are a romantic heart with damned good taste in actors.  Just go with it.

I have a daughter older than he is.

Welcome to the forum.

Wait.  I should leave you a welcome present...

Only 50, tonnaree?  That's merely experienced.

Welcome to the Forum, Tonnaree! Yes, age can hardly matter, thank heaven. Benedict being 36 and Martin 41 and yes, being Sherlocked and/or Cumberbatched seems to bring high honors even from these two actors who seem to take the fan girl-dom in their witty stride. Ageless, timeless and proud of it.

Just curious as to where you had come across Martin Freeman before -- had you already seen The Hobbit?  I'm not accustomed to other Americans knowing who he is, though that situation does seem to be changing!

Thanks everyone!   And about that shower scene........*swoon*

Carol, I had already seen Hobbit but I was also already a fan because of Love Actually and Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy.  Martin was so utterly adorable in both of those.  I must say though after watching Sherlock I am deeply impressed wtih Mr. Freeman's dramatic skills.

Sherlock was the first thing I'd ever seen Martin Freeman in, but it inspired me to get a bunch of his other shows and movies on DVD.  Of course, if I hadn't happened to watch Sherlock (and it was basically by accident) in 2010, I'd have seen him in The Hobbit for sure!

Every time I gaze at that shower screen shot I think to myself, if that's scene's not on the DVD women everywhere will riot.

That's why I would like to see the Director's Cut. They usually restore scenes in their proper context. I have the 2 DVD set of ST:2009 and it does include four or five deleted scenes but only with commentary which tells why they were cut so I guess that's a good thing in and of itself.
