Hi fellow forum members!

Just wanted to pop in the Intro forum and introduce myself. I'm Becky, and I hail from Austin, TX. I've been enjoying Sherlock for the past several years, having discovered the series just after the second episode aired here in the States. Got my mom hooked too. :) But then again, we're both Anglophiles with a yen for a good BBC adaptation of classic mysteries.

I absolutely ADORE that a book series that's over 100 years old translates so literally to modern-day London. Technology may be lightyears ahead of Doyle's day, but folks are folks. The human condition remains remarkably simliar, and don't even get me started on the correlation of world events in the 1890s vs the 2010s. :)

I'm happy to have found this great board to discuss one of my favorite shows. Here's to watching along and posting my thoughts!

Hi, Becky -- welcome to Sherlock Forum!  :welcome:  Glad you found us!

You're right, people are people, so stories written by someone with a good eye for human behavior should weather very well indeed, even over a hundred years.

Greetings, Becky!  So great to have you join us!  Yes, Sherlock Holmes has certainly stood the test of time and has even won a place in the Guinness Book of World Records for having being the most portrayed fictional character in books, films, and tv. Not bad for a guy over a 145 years old.

Hope you come and contribute your thoughts often.

Carol, thanks for the welcome! I look forward to being part of the community.

BakerStreet Irregular: I had no idea SH was in the Guiness Book of World Records. Makes, sense, though. They're really good stories. :)

Julia Mae: Thanks for the great picture. Nerd is the new sexy!

Becky, I love your new avatar!

By the way, if you'd like to be known as Becky here, all you have to do is put that name in your signature (as Fox and I have done):

Just click on your user name at the top of any page, click "My Settings" on the dropdown, click "Signature" on the left side of the Settings page, type whatever you like into the edit box, and finally click "Save Changes."  Whatever you've typed will now appear at the bottom of each of your posts (even the ones you've already made).

Why would you put "Becky" in your signature?  ....  oh... wait....

Yeah, I thought of rewording that, but the alternatives all seemed to be open to misinterpretation by trouble-makers as well!  :P

Oh, good -- now we can call you Tim!  (Undead Medic that is, not bowlwoman.  Quiet, Julia Mae!)
