Cannot get to Rich text editor from ipad

It seems that Invision has disabled rich text support for iOS due to unreliable performance, they plan to re implement it with the next major release which is 4.0. Alas, we have no confirmed release date for this.

Hopefully 4.0 will also fix some of the problems with the regular version of the rich text editor -- such as the sporadic inability to position the cursor following a quote box, the unreliable results when deleting portions of a quote, and the user-paternalistic tendency to delete (or, contrariwise, multiply) any new-lines between quote boxes, images, etc., and any surrounding text.

I find myself using the plain-vanilla editor quite a bit as a work-around.  It's kinda ironic when that's easier than using the rich text editor!

I'm not sure what Rich Text Editor means, but maybe it's the same.

Anyone gets this as well?

So most of the time, I only have this plain box without those helpful icons to help me with my post. I guess maybe 90% or more I encountered this.

It happens on my phone, tablet and computer. It's like a toss of dice with ten sides, so only once in a blue moon I would have everything.

It doesn't really affect me now though, I learn not to rely on those, and basically remember all the basic codes, strike, italic, url, quotes, spoiler image etc on top of my head and remember some basic emoticons or peek at Carol's emoticon's threads or search from the web.

But something I don't remember are color codes. I wanted to highlight certain part of my post and there was no way to find out the codes beside going to my setting and see my signature's color (it's too dark to use anyway), but I got the pattern and found few other colors by amending the codes, although eventually I only settles for Italics because nothing I found seems to work good on both black and white background, which commonly used here.

So, I don't have problem actually, can live with it. Just curious if this is a normal problem and you guys experience it as well or just me. I am using full version on every gadget, Deviant 3, the basic one.

That's exactly what I see on my cellphone. Even though I'm using the so-called full version of the forum, all I get is a plain box. If I want any special effects, I have to type in the BBCode myself (which ain't always worth the hassle).

I'm a smartphone novice, though, so somebody else may be able to give both of us more info.

Rereading your post, I see you're even getting this semi-full version on your laptop some of the time. I don't understand that at all, unless you had accidentally selected the mobile version of Deviant. When I'm on my laptop, I very reliably get the complete rich-text editor (meaning the one with all the handy buttons).

Same here - I only get that when I try to access the forum's (apparently not-so) full mode on a smartphone. Never happened on either desktop PC or laptop.

I've seen it when I'm on my laptop (Windows 7 Chrome Deviant 3) but the moment I click to type everything shows up normally.

I believe that's the way it's supposed to work -- no icons till you indicate you're actually planning to use the editor.

But on a cell phone, even the "full" forum version has no icons, even after you click inside the editor box.
