I love this game and have all 11 cases. Keep playing and you might get to the top of the leader board (was #4 for awhile). Also go around exploring on the map after you've finished the cases as there's something you can collect.

I have to clarify my "can't afford a phone" statement ... it's the monthly data plans I can't afford, actually. So I see no point in spending extra money for a smart phone.

However, my current phone is being phased out....

Exactly how I ended up with a smart phone. You might want to consider getting one even if you don't care to spend your hard-earned money on a data plan. It would still function as a cell phone and camera. And loads of places have free Wi-Fi (I'm posting from my eye doctor's office right now), so a smart phone can be a very handy computer-away-from home, even without a data plan.

I have the minimal data plan, but keep that access turned off, to save it for times when I might really need it -- and so far I haven't used it at all. (I did find that I need to keep that option turned off, because otherwise any tabs I'd left up after a wifi session would keep refreshing themselves, which chewed up my first month's data plan without my even using it.)

Ehh.. I am quite sure there are only ten case. From '1. The Case of the Weeping Bride' and '10. The Last Deduction'. Is the one more? Where where?

Anyway, I don't think of doing repeat playing as knowing the answer and solution kind of talking the fun and mystery away, because there is only one outcome. I only repeat games when there are different outcome of ways to achieve result otherwise I get bored.

Also, those leaderboard stuff normally require sign-in that I always try to avoid.

If they ever release new case, I wish they have different ways to obtain clue and more flexible. For example, you don't actually need to scramble the whole image to get the clue, and maybe option for short cut like

I heard and recognized the church bell from the first audio, because I learned from previous case the ice cream truck. Yet I had to go through listening to better quality second audio a while later, and then, listen to 3 church bell option, and THEN, still undecided and still go for another clue.

Geez, Sherl. :p

Also for things that require certain knowledge to get it fast, like 7yearsitch monroe's movie, I don't know that, I wish there are other ways if someone doesn't have that knowledge, like me. But well, it does make sense that it hinders my progress a bit because my lack of knowledge.

@smartphone data

I only got my mobile data plan about 3-4 years ago, because it's much cheaper for long distance communications. With free apps, I am able to call, message or skype, my phone expenses are pretty much zero, (it will be very expensive if I use normal way) unless I need to call someone who don't use the same apps. Since I am the last one to adapt this in my circle everyone that I care to contact are covered.

For the data plan, I only use prepaid ones, means I can control and limit my usage and pay upfront. There are normally various options for you to choose from, like the amount of data you want and period of time.

From three countries that I tried lately, the prepaid plans are less than 7, 9 and 16 bucks for 30 days usage, which is about 1-2Gigabytes that should be sufficient enough to cover communications and browsing. There are codes to check your balance to avoid overshoot. The unused data balance will be added once you renew every 30days/months, so it's not wasted.

Some operators sell unlimited package as well, so by paying certain fee, you can browse, downloads, play games etc all you want. It's usually not that much more ex but in my area, the operator which has this option has limited coverage, like when I go to work (almost another town..sigh.. the data is completely unusable, I can't even get normal reception to call normally).

So I am just using the prepaid 2Giga monthly, sometimes they comes with bonus like another 2Giga if your phone and your area have 4G support which is common now. (I think 4G is the term for level of reception; others are E, H and 3G. I don't know what they are, but E is edge or borderline bad I think :p).

I have wifi at homes so I do all the heavy stuffs (backups, downloads, streamings, video etc) at home although sometimes I couldn't resist and use my mobile plan when I am on the road, sometimes if I go around a lot I need to buy more data to cover my usage, but other time I have a lot of leftovers.

Another type of phone plan is the one you pay monthly based on usage at the end of monthly bill circle. I have never use this, same reason why I don't have credit card. I prefer to pay things upfront so I don't overshoot and I hate paperworks, bills, administration, registration and subscribtions attachment. Nope. I think that one you can opt for internet package that suits your needs.

Like Carol said, nowadays there are a lot of free wifi around, some airports, malls, business centers, coffee shops and fast food chains provide complementary wifi, which is good.

Even when you don't have data, there are many other things to do with smart phone, which is why I never looked back after started using one and survived using it without data for approx ten years.

Offline:

Books! Cram your ebooks inside and install a reader. It works like Kindle although phone screen is not very eye-friendly for long period.

Organizing.. calenders, events, folders, files

Notes.. I used to have a well updated blog when I need to commute with bus and train, because I had the time to write my bs in my phone. (To be posted later when I have internet access). I keep note for everything else as well; expenses that need to be remembered, things to bring for a trip when serious planning is needed and even drafting emails or posts to be sent later.

Games. For waiting or when you are bored bored bored. There are a lot of great offline fun nerdy games or normal fun games. Sherlock Network is actually less nerdy compared to my others.

Maps. Yes, I used to carry maps around but there is no need anymore when I found offline version before I had data.

Dictionary/measurement conversion.

Very essential sometimes.

Nitty gritty like music player, alarm, flash light that I surprisingly use a lot.

Other simple functional editing apps like when you need to draw on photos, combine or edit images which could be useful for works.

And camera! Not for taking human, but it's very handy for sceneries, and important stuffs such as when you see something that inspires you for work/story/something to remember like schedules, information. It's extremely useful when I need to do urgent work from home/off work, I could snap a picture and send it to boss to shut him up for a while. I don't have printer and scanner. It's also great for snapping e-ticket, shopping codes, even passport etc when you need to use the info but can't remember by head or when you lost the physical paperwork.

Those above are offline function.

For online, it's unlimited, the whole world is out there: for researching, informations, even banking transactions, bills, buying ticket/stuff online, weather checks (needed sometimes for me), economical communications, data/document sharings, and... Sherlock forum.

Aiz.. why do I write so much?? How is it relevant with the thread?

I am blaming...someone...

What.. nobody asked me to? I just blabber too much?? Aiz!!

Nope, not too much! That was interesting, and I'll be asking you for more info on some of those items, at least if you have an Android.

I've been told that the "G" in 4G, etc., stands for "generation." Apparently the original cell-phone technology is now referred to as 1G. My flip phone was a 2G, and I was starting to have trouble using it in some areas (where apparently the local equipment had been upgraded to something that no longer supported 2G). But yeah, you can think of it as meaning increased capability, because it has that.

No no no, that's really helpful, that's the kind of research I need to do, looking into all that kind of stuff. I barely use my phone; I really only have it for emergencies; but I could use it to make credit card sales at art shows if I could find an affordable data plan (can't count on wifi being available.) All that other stuff, I have solutions for already, so they're not as important to me. But I can see how they would be useful. Hmmm. Well, I have to come up with a solution before the end of the year, so thank you! Some more food for thought.

Sure..will be glad to help, eventhough it would be lousy help as technology is my constant struggle, yet I am very dependent on it. I have love hate relationship with my phone, we hurt each other yet can't bear to leave each other. :D

That's what makes you a perfect helper! My very-proficient-with-technology nephew tries to help me, and I can't understand a thing he's telling me. I need someone who's just as puzzled by it all as I am.

As for the network app there are the 10 cases revolving around Mrs Hudson's disappearance then the 11th is called A Race and A Case (basically keeping up skills) the beauty of the game is that the mini games don't have the same answer each time so unscrambling the picks or undoing the lock codes will have a different code each time. It becomes a matter of remembering the MP answer and the hidden objects locations as those don't change.
