I went to see this film, yesterday, about Professor Stephen Hawking, played superbly by Eddie Redmayne, and it was brilliant. I really believed it was 'Hawkings' as a young man. It was romantic, very touching and incredibly acted by all.

My own view is that it is better than 'The Imitation Game' and will win more awards.

I haven't seen the movie yet, but 1 of the clips I saw where Eddie & Felicity are interacting with that letter board showed me why he had won the best actor award at the Golden Globes. Also read the script and thought that was very fascinating.

Looks interesting! I wouldn't have thought of going to see it without your recommendation - but the story sounds good, and if you think it's even better than The Imitation Game, I'm interested :) Thought TIG was really good.

Has anyone seen both The Theory of Everything and Benedict Cumberbatch's 2004 TV movie Hawking?  I thought the latter was very good, and would be interested in hearing how they compare.

Ha, I was going to come here and ask the same question.

Thank you Carol - I haven't seen 'Hawking' - I didn't know Benedict had done this film. I will watch out for it and definitely watch it.

I found 'The Theory of Everything' very moving - it was actually the story of him and his first wife.

If you are interested in the story, then I would recommend the film. It is a different kind of film to T.I.G as not too much was known about Alan Turing and Stephen Hawking is very much alive, but I felt it just had something more.

I quite liked The Imitation Game. I'd like to see Theory of Everything, but I'll probably wait until I can watch it from the comfort of my living room.

Eddie Redmayne has  got awards now - the latest being the Bafta for best actor. It's a pity Stephen Fry was totally over the top - spoilt it a bit for me.

Fry is in Theory of Everything?  (I don't see him listed at IMDb.)  Or do you mean that he presented Redmayne's BAFTA, or something of that sort?

I like what I've seen of Fry's work so far, but that's been basically comedy -- NOT saying that someone who's good at comedy can't also do drama, just that I can't quite picture what Fry's dramatic style would be like.

OK, I've found it -- and if The Daily Mail's report is anywhere near accurate (their video is not working), then I agree with Ruthy.

Well Stephen is a very close friend Of Benedict's and he was certainly laughing...

if you haven't seen Fry as Oscar Wilde, you've not lived.

I know Stephen Fry has a bipolar disorder and had just got married - but I felt he was too over the top this time and spoilt things for me. He is a genuine clever guy but everyone has down days....

I am so pleased Eddie got the Oscar for 'Best Actor' - his performance was truly brilliant.

I thinght the Theory of Everything was a very good movie though, as tends to happen with these stories, they mixed up what happened and then added in something for drama I thought it was well written and there were some good performances. Redmayne was excellent in it which made his performance in Jupiter Ascending all the more surprising.

I'm looking forward to seeing more of Eddie Redmayne's work.

actually, after watching “Theory of Everything” became one of my favourite movies) Eddie really deserves Oscr for his acting. After winning his salary as an actor increased a lot. Just for Theory.. he earned $250,000 - can you imagine?

Now new movie with him deserves even more delight - "Danish Girl". Great movie which reveals transsexuality problems. Must see if you didn't)
