404 Message when Editing Profile

When I try and edit my profile I get a 404 error message and it tells me I don't have permission to access this.

Help.

Hi Sherlocked221, there is some discussion going on about what causes this message, hopefully we'll have an answer for you soon.

I see that your profile includes the word Domin*trix - that could be the culprit. For whatever reason, the bad word filter has zeroed in on that one and no longer allows it. Afraid that you'll have to resort to creative spelling like I just did if you want to keep it in your profile, sorry! And no, we can't change that, the 404 word list apparently comes hard-coded with the forum software, I'm afraid :(.

Thanks for spotting the culprit, Martina.  I'm afraid she's right, SherLOCKED -- as of January, the forum software has been "helpfully" rejecting any posts that it thinks might be spam (and guess what it thinks you're peddling!).

But anyhow, welcome back!   :wave2:   Long time, no see, and all that.  Looking forward to reading your take on S3!

It's just I haven't been here in awhile and I wanted to update my profile!

But I'm patient...

As Martina says, your best bet (well, your only option, really, other than just leaving your Profile as is) is to misspell the D-word -- for example:

Use a zero in place of the "o":  D0minatrix

Use a one in place of an "i" (or both of them):  Dom1natrix

Use an asterisk in place of any letter or letters:  Dominatr*x

As long as you make any change at all, it should work.  Sorry about those hurdles, but as Martina pointed out, the forum staff has no control over this "feature."  (See the "Forbidden Errors" thread for details.)

Glad to hear it . Clever solution with the 8!
