  1. Thanks for the details! I was wondering what would happen with this episode when it aired in the States... I know there are often cuts for ads (which we don't get on BBC here), but I was wondering what would be cut...
  2. Mohican
  3. Word of mouth works wonders when it comes to shows. There are a lot of interesting shows out there I only get to watch after I hear good things about them from friends...
  4. I would love that... Zachary Quinto is soooo good at playing evil!
  5. I'm happy we'll get to see him acting opposite Zachary Quinto in the next Star Trek...
  6. I think Anderson is amazing as what he is: the annoying one that just gets on everybody's nerves, particularly Sherlock! As long as he remains that, and nobody tries to build him into something he was never meant to be...
  7. I'm hoping for a punch and silent treatment broken only so that John can check whether he's figured out how Sherlock has done it, to which, as usual, Sherlock will reply with something along the lines of "how can you not have figured it out yet?", which will only anger John more!
  8. It'll do nicely. When are you baking another one of those? That one was lovely!
  9. Hello! Hope you enjoy it here!
  10. YAY! Does the forum get a birthday cake? Or a celebration cake of some sort? Thanks everybody who's joined us yet, and here's to many more that will join us soon!
  11. Let's not forget than anything they deem to be good is either because they put it in place last time they were in place, or because they opposed whatever the previous government wanted to introduce as well... *headdesk*
  12. Warning: the following is full of generalisations... So, I was thinking today. There are shows/books that are pretty much plot driven. As in, things happen to characters, who pretty much are secondary to the plot. Can't think of an example off the top of my head right now but I'm knackered, so bear with me There are shows/books that are pretty much character driven, where the plot is there to allow us to see the characters in different lights . For example, Lost. And there are books/shows that are a wise combination of both, such as Harry Potter, or Dresden Files, where at times, characters trump plot, or vice versa, but both are important. Obviously that nice balance between the two makes for a tighter story, in most cases. But, if you have to choose plot-driven (with blank/undeveloped characters) or character-driven (with little/slow moving plot), what do you prefer? I'm going to go with character-driven... Probably because my writing is character-based and I enjoy stories that give me insight into the characters.
  13. Oh come on, with that one, you are dead ten minutes into the first episode!
  14. Zachary Quinto. Having seen him as Spock, I'm sure he'd make a great Sherlock...
  15. Isn't it always, with all this trying to keep everybody happy when doing new shows?
  16. Current stuff: CSI (Vegas and NY). I like crime drama, and I'm quite fond of some of the characters. NCIS. Because they are a lovely dysfunctional bunch. Being Human. Series 4 was a bit disappointing (I miss the old bunch!) but still interesting, I'm curious to see where it goes from here. Fringe. Because it's weird and intriguing and has great characters. The Mentalist. Funny. Castle. Hilarious and very true at times. Game of Thrones. Series 1 hooked me, now I'm reading the books... Curious to see how they'll squeeze the second book into series 2. Merlin. Because, funny and good characters, despite being just about very loosely based on something that once resembled Arthurian legend. Not current stuff: Torchwood. Series 1 and 2. I do admire the production values of CoE, but I don't like my universes being destroyed just because, so I stay away from that one. Stargate. At least Atlantis and SG-1. Can't comment on Universe yet cos I've not seen it. Star Trek. All flavours thereof. Highlander (The series). I prefer Duncan McLeod. So sue me. Buffy. Because, Spike. Lost. Currently rewatching the first five series so we can watch series 6. Spoil me and I will main and kill. You have been warned.
  17. There is this one, as suggested by Undead Medic. If you are looking for a more fandom/fanfic rec kind of thing, feel free to start one somewhere in the Mind Palace
  18. Well, YES! While I do understand that sometimes pockets ruin the line of a pair of trousers, the amount of female clothing without pockets is ridiculous! Even worse, there is a lot of formalwear stuff out there with pretend-pockets... EndOfRant
